Fish in tomato cream sauce Smile Jan 29, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Restaurant | Pasta

Decided to try the fish in tomato cream sauce pasta for the first time. The fried fish fillet is crispy and honestly a little too oily on the outer layer. However, the meat is well cooked and carries a sweet fish taste. Additionally, it wasn't too dry. The pasta as usual was well cooked and was topped off with a unique blend of tangy pomodoro and white cream sauces. I liked the blend of sauces. The taste of the white sauce isn't that distinct when mixed with pomodoro sauce but it reduces the strong tomato taste of pomodoro that makes pomodoro sauce easy to get sick of. Overall, it had the perfect combination of food and its definitely my favourite pasta from Pizza Hut so far. Will definitely have it again the next time I'm there.

Nankotsu ramen OK Jan 29, 2012

Dropped by Changi Airport T3 and decided to have the Nankotsu ramen from Ajisen for lunch. The pork meat was pretty dry and carried no particular unique or strong taste. For a Japanese restaurant, the noodles was disappointing too. The noodles breaks immediately when you chew onto it. It doesn't have the flour texture on the inside of the noodle which Japanese ramen normally has. However, the soup was good. It was thick and carried a good tonkotsu taste.

Overall, it was tasty but totally not worth the money. Would not try it again.

Spending per head: Approximately $11

Gyozas Smile Jan 29, 2012

I decided to eat the gyozas from Wadori as a quick snack. Its $1.60 per stick and each stick has 3 deep fried gyozas. Since its deep fried gyoza, I expected it to be dry. Surprisingly, the insides of the gyoza was relatively moist and the juice was sweet. Anyway, until now I'm not too sure what kind of meat is inside the gyoza. I tried it twice and the first time it tasted like pork but the second time I think there were partly shrimps/prawns inside. The meat is moist too. The outer layer skin was thin and crispy. Overall it was a perfect quick snack.

Baked pasta with Chicken OK Jan 29, 2012

Streats Hong Kong Cafe carry a wide variety of food items, from chinese cuisine to western cuisine. After having tried their Chinese dim sum, I decided to try their western cuisine. Initially, when they served the pasta, I was surprised by the amount of cheese they used. The entire pasta is covered with thick cheese with very little amount of tomato sauce in the centre. After the dish cooled down, the cheese became very hard to swallow and I had to separate it from the pasta.

The chicken was juicy and was covered in a sweet sauce. I like the fact that there was a capsicum which gave the dish a good smell. Pasta wise, they cooked it the way I like it. Not too cooked,

Its definitely not the best dish the restaurant has to offer. The amount of cheese is just way too much. However, the pasta and chicken were all tasty.

Mixed fruit size Smile Jan 29, 2012

Decided to try the mixed fruit cake from Angie the Choice. The cake itself, as usual, is soft and moist. It was sweet and carried a light peach flavour. In between the cake were slices of peach and whipped cream. Cake was topped off with more whipped cream and some coloured cream which didn't carry any particular taste/weak taste. I personally like the whipped cream from Angie b/c it is sweet but not too sweet. Also, it doesn't leave the oily feeling on your lips after eating it.

It costs $2.80 and I'd definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a fruity but not heavy on sweetness cake.
