Yummy Milkcurd Smile Nov 16, 2011

I have discovered another yummilicious Almond Milkcurd and it is here at Kampong Boy. When I walked past it, there was a steady stream of people ordering their beancurd and that is surely a good sign of good food smile
I'm into Almond milkcurd at the moment and this is one is delicious! It just slid down my throat with its soft texture and there was a good almond flavour, not strong nor bitter. Better and cheaper than the Momo dessert I reviewed at Ghim Moh

Penang Food OK Nov 15, 2011

Categories : Malay | Restaurant | Noodles | Rice

When I think of Penang food, the first thing that comes to mind is Penang Assam Laksa and that is what I had here.
The Assam Laksa was not too sour nor fishy and had generous amounts of ingredients. One thing that I found strange was the coarse beehoon looked and tasted a bit like Japanese udon.

I ordered the Rojak with the sauce separate but they forgot to add the roasted peanuts in it. The prawn paste sauce was not too bad and the pungent prawn taste was tempered by some lime juice and sugar.

Laksa at Fishball Noodle Stall OK Nov 15, 2011
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Teochew | Hawker Centre | Noodles

Fancy buying Laksa at a FishBall Noodle stall but this was what I did!

It did not taste like conventional Laksa, having a more curry flavour and texture. It was also unusual in that it had fishballs, BIG ones at that. They were also very generous with the tau pok

I think I'll try their Fishball noodles next time and order Laksa from a Laksa stall.

Red Garoupa Fish Soup Smile Nov 15, 2011

It's not easy to find a Fish Soup stall that sells Garoupa Fish besides Toman or Batang but I'm glad to have discovered this place not too far from my home.

At first glance, the soup looks boring and bland but one taste of the soup and you know instantly it is fresh and good stuff. The fish was tender and fresh and it was such a joy to eat it! I find Batang/Toman fish slices a tad fishy if it is not fresh or not cooked properly but no such problem here.

One portion is $6 excluding rice, a little expensive but worth the quality. They could add more green veggies to make the look more appetising smile

Tasty Thai :) Smile Nov 14, 2011
Categories : Thai | Hawker Centre

I am so glad that many Thai nationals have chosen to set up stalls in different hawker centres instead of just congregating in Golden Mile Complex.
It makes my love for Thai cuisine so much more accessible and here is one of my favourite Thai food stall smile

The Glass Noodle Salad I had that day was a marvellous mix of flavours - salty, spicy and sour. The dish was made on the spot with fresh ingredients and bore different textures to the bite.
It had black fungus which was just tender, not soggy, fresh coriander and spring onions, squid, cashew nuts, tomatoes and perfect glass noodles in a piquant fish sauce mixed with lime juice, chilli and sugar.
A very refreshing dish on a hot day in a hot hawker centre!
