Fab Laksa! :) Smile Oct 27, 2011

Categories : Malaysian | Hawker Centre | Noodles

Was in the vicinity of Jurong East and as it was nearing lunch-time, my dad decided to stop at the nearby Yuhua Hawker Centre for lunch. There were many seats available as it was a weekday (it's alwys packed during weekends)! So we chose a seat near the carpark, so we didnt have to walk far when we are leaving.

I went around looking at what food there was and I saw this stall. My mum had ate the laksa at this stall before and she said it was nice, so i decided to order it. The auntie manning the stall was very nice, and she would ask where we sat and whether i would like clams in my laksa or not. Though most of the stalls here have put a 'Self Service' sign at the front of the stall, many would simply bring your food to the table. smile

When my laksa came, it was an uncle who served it. My bowl of laksa cost $3, which i feel is reasonable. There were taupok, beansprouts, half a hard boiled egg, fishcakes and a prawn, with some garnish on top. Plus, it has a nice presentation, & somemore at a hawker centre! Surprising. shocked The noodles is cooked just nice, and the ingredients are fresh. Delicious! I would surely patronise again, but only once in a while, since we knw laksa is not very healthy with so much coconut milk. Kekeke. mad

This hawker centre is also very good in the sense that for each and every stall, a healthier choice symbol is placed next to the food which is 'healthy' for that stall, and there were even recommendations at stalls that would say 'Request for brown rice, it's healthier', etc. There was also a huge banner hanging at the hawker centre which promotes healthy eating. The different stall holders also wear a same orange apron which has words that say something like 'Great food, Fabulous health', or something like tat (can't really recall since i didnt go memorise what's written on it). Feel that all these is really great as many people eat at these hawker centres, doing this may help people choose their food wisely and at the same time, be healthier. smile

P.S. My photo was taken after I stirred/mixed my bowl of laksa. I forgt to take a photo before that, haha.

Categories : Food Court | Brunch

It's another one of those days where my mum didnt cook, so i had to get my lunch outside. Since I was shopping for some stuffs at Causeway Point, decided to have my lunch at the Mega Food Mall on level 5 (I didnt't have any $$$ in my pocket, only a handy banquet card which could b used there! Haha tongue) It was 1pm, so there was alot of ppl and i had to wait awhile b4 i could find a table. I love coming here, even though its a food court, cos i knw exactly wat i wanted to order everytime i came here! (From Pots & Pans!!!) smile

Luckily for me, there wasnt a long queue when i was at the stall. I ordered their black pepper pork set (which was my fav, i have tried almost everything on their menu! tongue). As orders are taken one by one and then cooked straight away, you will recieve a sizzling hotplate of your choice, with a soup and a bowl of rice. The hotplate is very hot, so avoid touching it and wait till it doesn't sizzle as much as I gt burnt before while carrying my tray (it will sizzle and the sauce may splash onto your hand). The rice bowl and soup bowl is also the same size, so you may want to request for more rice if you are a big eater (for me though, it's just nice).

The portion of the meat is just nice, & generous amt of raw cabbage is given (under the meat so the meat will not be burnt by the hotplate). The soup is really delicious, it's something like egg drop soup and is thick, plus with vinegar (which i took from the stall), it's wat i looked forward to everytime i order this.

The other dishes offered by them are also pretty nice; though the curry chicken is abit too spicy for me. They have noodles too (but not in hotplate form). Their noodles is something like spaghetti, & if you love to eat that, u shld try it as it's not bad (though i prefer their rice set more) tongue.

Pricing wise, it's really reasonable (it's even cheaper than other stalls that sometimes i eat at, which is why im always there. Haha!). During peak hours though, sometimes there will b long queue so be prepared to wait.

P.S Try taking public transport, the carpark is always crowded at Causeway Point.
Delicious!!!

I was flying to KL on a budget airline which was to take off at 6.25am, i reached at 5.30am, just in time to check in before the counter closed. It was very rushed & I didnt had time for breakfast before i went to the airport. After check-in, as there was still abit of time, i decided to grab a bite from Mac b4 boarding. The queue was quite long, though the service was fast & soon it was my turn. I gt just 1 hashbrown, which was gd enough to satisfy my hunger before i sit down for a proper breakfast in KL.

The hashbrown was not exactly piping hot when i received it, but its still acceptable. It was quite crispy, though very oily. My hands were all oily even though I had only held it for a few minutes. I had to use 4 napkins to clean off the oil but it was still oily, though not as bad as b4. But in the end though, I still love eating mac hashbrowns, they are simply just different from those we cook ourselves. smile

Ajisen! :) Smile Sep 27, 2011

Categories : Japanese | Ramen

It was my sis bdae & my father decided to bring the whole family out for dinner. As he didnt want to travel far, he brought us to Causeway Point, which was opposite my hse, to dine. It was peak hour (dinnertime) & there were crowds everywhere. Initially wanted to have Western but there was a long queue outside the restaurant. Ajisen had a shorter queue & the waiting time was fast, so we decided to just have dinner there. It was my dad's 1st time there, so I intro-ed him to wat he could eat (those ramen with vegetables only, since he is a vegetarian).

The menu was simple, & u could order ur ramen with a set meal, which consists of a bowl of ramen, a side, & a drink (either a green tea or lemon tea). The good thing is that one can choose between hot or cold tea, which is a nice touch as some people prefer drinking something hot while eating. Price ranges from $13+ to $15+ per set meal, depending on wat ramen u ordered. All of us ordered a set meal each, while my sis ordered a kid's meal set A, which came in an 'aeroplane', super cute! There were also some fried prawn & chicken with rice that came with it. smile

My bro & I both ordered a Chu Shu Ramen, mine with a Fried prawn side, his with a fried white fish side. Also ordered an additional fried tofu, prawn mayo & soft shell crab side too. My mum ordered a tofu salad; though the photo on the menu showed there were purple lettuce in it, when the salad came, it was all green lettuce. My dad ordered an all veg ramen, & he said the taste was nice. All of us had ice lemon tea, while my dad had hot green tea. The taste of the tea was just nice, & all of us finished it really fast. The soft shell crab was exceptionally gd, very crispy (though im biased since i love eating it)! tongue We didnt really like the fried tofu though, it tasted abit plain (but tofu is like tat, haha). The fried white fish, prawn, & prawn mayo all tasted great too, not too oily.

After tat, we ordered an additional sundae, there was a promo gg on, buy 1 free 1 black sesame sundae. However, the black sesame sundae was sold out, so we got to choose the free one too! smile There are 4 flavours to choose frm, & we chose chocolate & mango flavour!

Overall, the service was really gd, we were given 5 spoons for the 2 sundaes, even though we didnt request for them (we had 5 ppl). I also requested for the mayo to be separated frm the sides i ordered, & they gave me a bowl of mayo instead of putting them on top of my sides. smile Will patronize agn! ^^

Met up with my ex-classmate yest & decided to go Causeway Point since it was near both of our hse. Causeway Point has just undergone a major renovation & many new shops has since opened even though parts of the mall are still under renovation. There were alot of new places to dine, but since both of us like the food at Yoshinoya, we decided to settle our lunch there. It was wayy past 1pm but as I usually have my lunch quite early, I gobbled up my fd & forgot to take photos... Haha tongue

Both of us ordered the student's deal, since its cheaper too compared to the normal pricing plus it's the same. My fren ordered the Salmon Bowl, while i ordered the teriyaki chicken bowl (which is wat i alwys order whenever i dine at Yoshinoya). A soft drink came with the rice & both of us chose Green Tea, which require additional top-up of cash.

The Salmon bowl came with mayo squeezed on top of the Salmon, which was coated with breadcrumbs & deep fried till crisp. My teriyaki chicken had a crispy skin, & the rice was drenched with teriyaki sauce, it was simply heavenly! smile The GREAT thing i liked abt their rice bowl is that it alwys comes with a side of veggies (which makes it a healthier choice)!

If ur a student, do make use of their student's special since u get the same thing at a lower price! (That's the gd thing of studying tongue)
