It was dinnertime and I was out with my friend at Vivocity, so we decided to drop by The Asian Kitchen for dinner since we were alrdy both hungry. It was still early, about 6pm, so there wasnt a queue or crowd when we reached there. We were given a menu to share and after some time, I decided to go for what I liked best frm this place, a plate of simple fried rice. My fren wanted someting spicy, and as the soft shell crab la mian was the only thing listed on the menu as spicy, he decided to go with that. The time for the food to come was pretty slow, about 20minutes, although there wasnt alot of ppl in the restaurant. My fried rice came 1st, and it smelt really nice. Smoke could be seen rising frm the plate of rice too. Waited quite a while longer before my fren's noodles came (may b becos the noodles were hand-made and made immediately after order, which is why the long wait). Tried his noodles and they were really springy. The soup base was not spicy as advertised though, it was very sour. (Tom Yam) I also pinched a little of his soft shell crab, but they were abit soggy after being soaked in the soup, but were still to my liking as I love soft shell crab. For my fried rice, it had alot of luncheon meat all over, eggs, and mixed vegetables commonly found in fried rice. I took out the carrots, which I alwys do as I didnt like the carrots frm mixed veg (they were hard). The luncheon meat, when eaten tgt with the rice, was simply very nice. It was a simple yet able to satisfy me food. There were so many cubes of luncheon meat that even after I finished my fried rice, there were still some leftover. Haha. Overall, nice yet simple dinner I had, but a very satisfying one indeed. Other Ratings:Taste 4 | Environment 3 | Service 3 | Clean 3 | Price 3 Recommend 0 |
The bread from Roti Mum never fails to amaze me. The queue at the outlet in IMM is alwys long, and the smell of the coffee bread could be smelt even from the entrance of IMM. My dad wanted to go to the Supermarket to buy some fruits, and we walked past Roti Mum. There was only 4 ppl queuing, so I asked my dad to join the queue to buy the bread for me. The outlet alwys have a promo of Buy 5 get 1 free, which in total you get 6 bread, at a price of $6.50. We bought all 6 coffee-flavoured, though sometimes my sis will ask for 1 to be chocolate, since it was her favourite and she didnt like coffee. When we got back into my dad's car, the smell of the bread immediately made the whole car smell like coffee, the aroma was really nice and enough to make a person hungry. However, as my dad dislikes us eating in the car, we had to wait till we got home before we could have one. I love how the packaging of the bread was as there were instructions at the back telling you how to reheat the bread and the ways you can do it. Most of the time when you buy breads from bakeries, the most was that the breads were placed in a box, with their logo etc. This packaging is really detailed. Reheated my coffee bread in the oven, as I wanted it to be crisp and piping hot (Though it was still warm). Placed it back into the paper bag, and it still looked as though i just bought it. The exterior of the bread was crispy at the sides, and soft in the middle. The insides are fluffy, and there is a buttery-like taste. Not sure what it is, but something like mayo is inside the bread, which makes it really nice. The coffee aroma just engulf you while eating. Overall, still the nicest coffee bread I've tried, and needless to say, i will go back for more. ^^ Recommended Dish(es):

I think there isnt any other person who is so crazy about the teriyaki chicken set from Yoshinoya. Everytime I went there, be it myself or with my frens, my choice would remain the same - Teriyaki chicken set. This time round, I went alone to Causeway Point to have my lunch as no one cooked at home and my frens were busy. I went directly straight to Yoshinoya, put down my bags on one empty table and went to order my food. It was a weekday so it was pretty quiet; there was only 2 other customers sitting down eating when i paid for my teriyaki chicken rice set. Used my student card so that i could choose the student meal, which was cheaper at $4.95. There were 2 choices for student meal, Choice 1 & 2, where 2 came with a side (tgt with a drink and main). I chose Choice 1, since i knew i had a small appetite and couldnt finish up if there was another side. The drinks available for the set was pretty limited; and all were gassy, which i didnt like. I changed the drink to ice lemon tea, which required an additional 50 cents top-up. Although it was expensive, i just changed it as it would be useless if i ordered the set but dun drink the drink too. :X The food was served pretty fast, since Yoshinoya's setting was pretty much like fast food restaurants. Went to my table and started eating, but felt there was too little teriyaki sauce given. Went to the cashier and requested additional sauce, and to my surprise i was given a small cupful of it. Thought there would be extra charges but there wasnt. There were quite alot of veggies and chicken this time i ordered. The veggies were nice and soft ( i like it this way ), and i finished all of it except the cabbage, which i didnt like (There was a mixture of carrots, long beans, broccoli and cabbage). Not sure whether request for additional veggies would cost more but you can try if you like to eat veggies. The chicken was not too hard, though there was some fat here and there. The chicken skin was soggy as the teriyaki sauce had been poured over it, but it was still nice. Overall, not bad, and of cos i would still come here to eat. The food is considered cheap for a 'fast food' Japanese place, and isnt as unhealthy as fast food since rice isnt deep fried like fries. One thing to note though, you may want to go earlier as the place starts to fill up once lunch time is approaching. Recommended Dish(es):

Finally dined in Causeway Point Pastamania. Everytime i wanted to have Pastamania, I would call for delivery, and the food would be delivered from the Pastamania Outlet in Sun Plaza, although i stay in Woodlands. Not sure but mayb it's becos the one at Woodlands Causeway Point doesnt do deliveries. Went for lunch with my classmate at ard 1.30pm, and the place was 3/4 full. We placed an order after deciding what to order. I ordered a Ham cheesy crumble, while my fren ordered a Basil chicken aglio olio. There was a set of a side and drink which will cost another additional $4.90 only if we purchased a main course, so we decided to order 1 set. We upsized the drink and got another cup so that both of us could just share 1set. (Hehe, we wanted to save money) Our food arrived at our table in about 10mins. The Ham cheesy crumble i felt tasted nicer than when i call for delivery (mayb becos its freshly cooked and eaten, unlike delivery where some time is spent waiting and delivering the food to my hse). The cheese portion on top was just nice, and there were some ham slices sprinkled around the plate (not alot though). The spaghetti was cooked to just nice, wasnt too hard or soft. The side we ordered was cheese sticks, and it was really nice! A MUST TO ORDER FOR CHEESE LOVERS!!! The whole stick was filled with melted cheese and you can feel the cheese melting out when u bite it. Simply delicious! Drink we ordered was ice lemon tea, and I felt there was too much ice inside the cup alrdy. My friend has the Pastamania card, so we got an additional 15% off our total bill.
DELICIOUS!

It was lunch-time and i went to Koufu for lunch. I love eating at the Japanese stall as the food is nice and cheap. This stall has also been featured by Channel U before, so it shouldnt be that disappointing too if one doesnt like the food. The auntie tending the cashier is very nice, and she knows what i want to eat without saying anything as i often patronize her stall (about twice a week). And everytime i go, i will order the same thing, Ebi Curry Rice, so she knew very well wat i wanted to have now. The Ebi Curry Rice takes some time to prepare, as all the food is cooked upon each order. As prawns takes longer as they have to be coated with the crumbs and then deep-fried, people usually get their orders 1st before mine although they had placed their orders after me. I dun mind, since it was my fav food from this stall. The prawns are crisp, and piping hot. There are only 2 given though. Potatoes are soft, and only 1 carrot is given (though i dunno why, that is usually the case). Rice portion is about a bowl, and the curry gravy? The whole plate is drenched with it! YUM YUM! I use the gravy to pour over my rice and eat with it, usually after i finish, there is no more curry left on my plate. Haha, it is that nice! Overall, love this alot. If one more prawn can be added it would b better as 2 is abit too little with so much rice. However, see-ing the low price of $3.90, i doubt there will be another prawn added unless the prices increases. A MUST TRY though, the curry is really nice! Recommended Dish(es):
