Strangely I have never reviewed on Ikea's food till today. And this is after having eaten there for more times than I can remember. So this is my 2 cents' worth:

1) Stuffed salmon - this is their current staple and the only thing that they have changed, is the sauce that glazes the fish. They used to have this yellow sauce that is not bad but the one current one is not nice!! It has this slight bitter aftertaste which can be a damper for a meal.

2) Chicken wings - this is a must-order whenever we eat here and I must say they really maintain the standards of cooking really nice fried chicken.

3) Pizza - they offered free pizza with each order of stuffed salmon but the pizza is not bad. Not great but not bad lah.

4) Meatballs - fav of my kiddos! They can eat that and MEATBALLS Only!!! But I must agree that the frozen ones are also very good tasting!

Compared to maybe a year ago, I find that Ikea has downsized their menu and they no longer have a large spread of yummies to choose from. Having said that, I will still definitely return as Ikea remains a favorite place for my family and myself.

Nice Pizza Base Smile Sep 05, 2011

Aunt brought us out for pizza at Bella Pizza and once I stepped inside, I realized I've eaten here before!!

We have a group ranging from 6 months to 84 years old so we tried to vary our orders... Hee...

1) Parma ham with chef selected cheese salad - funny thing was that my aunt wanted the Parma ham pizza but ordered this instead! Anyway, Parma ham cheese salad is always nice, and theirs was nice indeed.

2) 4 cheese pizza - generous with the cheese and lovely taste

3) Pizza Bella Pizza - it's their signature dish so I ordered one and it's indeed tasty.

4) 'Seafood' Pizza - they don't have this on the menu but my BIL don't take beef so we asked for one specially made.

5) Italian Sasuage Pizza - another beef-less pizza which my Sis asked for it to be made into a 'ship'. It's basically a pizza base that's pinched at two ends to shaped into 'ship'. Cute design and still taste good. But the ends of the 'ship' had the dough too thick and crusty. If you like chewy dough, then go for it!!

6) Carbonara - for the old lady. She didn't fancy any pizza so she had one. She liked it enough. smile

Not likely a place I'll return but if I'm in the area and craving for pizza, why not?

My Penang in Singapore Smile Sep 05, 2011

Categories : Malay | Hawker Centre | Restaurant

Just realized that I've not written a review for this wonderful place!! Now that they are in a more populated building, business is better than then.

I brought my good friends there as I was craving Penang makan and sorta 'passed' that craving to them too. There were many many yummies served:
1) Prawn noodle soup - the soup is POWER man!!

2) Char kuey tiao - the chef fry in relatively small batches to maintain that wok-Hei Yumz. Thus, the noodles sometimes disappear too quickly and would have to wait. But trust me, the wait is worth it!

3) Assam Laksa - not many people appreciate the Assam Laksa like I do and they serve very very good ones!!!

4) Chicken Satay - juicy, thick chunks of chicken nicely grilled, but not too tough. Good job!

5) Beef Rendang - I didn't take this but my friends who did, like it enough.

6) Herbal Duck Soup - I know...how is herbal duck soup a Penang dish right? But it's really tasty so I'll close an eye. I must say that the soup was a little to oily as it's cooked with duck meat.

7) Nonya Kueys - I personally no like kueys but my friends could not stop raving about how 'Melt-in-the-mouth' they were.

8) Yam Sago - this dessert was also very very yummy! The rich coconut flavor with hints of sago bits made me return for seconds and thirds. I couldn't stop!!!

9) Fridge full of cold desserts - during my returns for the yam sago, I noticed that there was a boy opening the doors of a glass fridge and wondered why this boy so rude, open the fridge of the restaurant! Then it dawned on me that there were MORE chilled desserts INSIDE the fridge! With this new discovery, I couldn't not take one. I had a Jap jelly with a piece of longan in it. Nice!

Penang Place has not let me down yet and I will definitely return for more Penang yumz fix!!

Crab Beehoon RAWKS!!! Smile Sep 03, 2011

Categories : Coffeeshop | Seafood | Zi Char

My third time having a yummy feast here when friends wanted to wack some crab Beehoon.

1) Crab Beehoon - was as awesome as I remembered it to be. smile

2) Cod fish - it was a huge serving of beautifully braised cod and the price tag was huge too at $54. Yummy to the last bite.

3) 3 Egg vege - still good. smile

4) Cereal Chicken - still good.

5) Salted Egg crabs - this is my first time eating this dish here and their version is a 'dry' layer of salted eggs coating. We had 2 very big crabs and it was good stuff as its fresh and the flesh comes out meaty and firm. Combined with the salted eggs, simply can die. This dish is priced at 'can-die' price of $143 too.

Compared to the crab Beehoon, I'll stick to just ordering the crab Beehoon here as the crab is quite large in size too, with the price tag at a humble $30 per plate. I'll definitely be back for more and more plates of crab Beehoon!!!

Surprisingly Good! Smile Sep 03, 2011

Bought vouchers for Spizza and decided to redeem them for hub's BDay dinner with me. We had:

1) Olivia Pizza - as usual, hubs love meat and spice and this is what 'Olivia' has. Salami and chili slices over tomato-base and cheese toppings. Baked in wood-fire oven for the slightly burnt crust. Mmmm... Simply delicious.

2) Spicy Sausage Linguine - asked for spicy version (as always) and they added just one chili Padi in the sauté. But trust me, it's spicy plenty. The sausages were very flavorful and together with the linguine, I could not get enough! Am impressed as didn't expect such yummy pasta from a Pizzaria.

3) Tiramisu - it's essentially hub's birthday cake but I was the one that was attacking it! I like it (could you tell?)

I will definitely come back for more!!!
