Not sure if you have heard of this pizza place that imported special bricks from Italy to create their fire oven? Well, this is it!!

Apparently, it's currently the only one in Singapore and it has to be certified so. Not all brick-ovens in Italy automatically qualify for this certification.

This special brick-oven is supposed to bake awesome tasting pizzas with crusts that have that slightly charred taste. The pizza crusts are indeed cooked till the correct textual and slightly burnt, together with the fresh ingredients. Good base for the pizzas. Of the four pizzas we ordered, I only found their Diavola and Marinara very nice.

We ordered 4 pizzas and 2 Carbonara in total. The Carbonara was nice but not so awesome that I'll rave about it. It had a good body to the cream sauce (not runny) and they also used fresh pasta so that's another plus point.

However, there are many of these 'nice' pizza / pasta places so I'm not likely to return unless already in the area, craving for good pizzas.

Wanted to eat something light and remembered that the XO fish beehoon from Holland has shifted to the current location at Dover Crescent. We went there and ordered their famous Fish Meat Beehoon minus the XO as it was $2 more!! Yes...I am cheap-skate like this... tongue

When our order arrived, we thought they have gotten our order wrong because the wine taste was really strong!! Well, they didn't charge us the XO price so we figured it was either the chef gave us XO by mistake or their normal version already has a very generous amount of the shaoxing wine.

I liked the taste enough but the fish meat was not as generous as the HK Street street opposite Alexandra Hospital. Parking was ok as it's below a multi-story carpark but we had to park pretty high up and still have to walk down to the Coffeeshop.

Again, this is gonna be only listed as a 'if-I'm-in-the-area' place to makan.

Not sure Celebrating a good friend's birthday and decided to go to Spice Peranakan as she loves Peranakan cuisine and we have a meeting near Biopolis.

We were a party of 6 and we had:

1) Lemongrass Drink - good and strong but not overpowering.

2) Tofu Tempra - nicely deep fried to achieve the crusty coat with soft insides.

3) Ngo Hiang - good with nice, thin crusty skin and tasty fillings

4) Chap Chye - I don't like Chap Chye to start with so this dish didn't impress me

5) Bakwan Kepeting - the Bakwan was BIG! So only one ball per person but it's got crabmeat that is mixed with minced pork. The result is very tasty meatball that leaves you covering your neighbour's meatball!!

6) Ayam Buah Keluak - this one was only ok. Not like the ones I enjoyed in Melaka at all!!

7) Otak Otak - this one can tell it's homemade. Nice but I would prefer it spicier.

8) Ikan Assam Pedas - at $18.90 a bowl, I expected a bigger fish and the tasty I felt was not intense enough.

9) Chendol - my colleagues all enjoyed the thick sweet concoction.

10) Bubur Cha Cha - I alone found the dessert very well-done. Not too sweet and bowl was full of ingredients.

Although the food was decent enough, I would say the company was far more enjoyable than the meal.

Bought some vouchers and decided to give Swenson's another try and found that they have somewhat changed their menu...

I had a Black Pepper Grilled Chicken that was served with a side of brown rice. I thought the chicken was rather ok and the black pepper sauce commercial grade. The brown rice was surprisingly nice and fragrant. Together with the chicken in black pepper sauce, the meal was actually better than I expected!

My order comes with free flow salad bar and I'm not a fan of salad so I would only attack certain food. I tried some of their Thai tanghoon and it was hard! Like it's not cooked and softened enough. That was disappointing... The coleslaw was also ok. They also have a variety of crispy yummies that you can sprinkle over your greens to make them not-so-healthy but oh-so-yummy.

Hubby had their hamburger which he said was ok, not bad.

Tho their food seemed to have improved, I'm not sure if we'll bee-line here when we are in Vivo.

Always very intrigued by Xin Wang's menu as they sell many combinations of all types of food. This trip I decided to try something new...

1) Borsch Soup - nice! I like the HK style Borsch soup. As nice as Kim Gary's version.

2) Prawn Paste Chicken - the smell of the prawn paste is very strong and kudos to them for not using breast meat. They deboned tight meat and deep fried them till piping hot. So it took the longest to arrive! Last in fact!

3) Curry Ramen - not bad. Ingredients are generous. smile The Lamian gives this dish a slight twist as our usual curry noodle comes with white beehoon or the fat yellow noodles.

4) Dry Chilli Noodle with Luncheon Meat & Egg - it looked nicer than it tasted. Not bad tasting but not great either. Very passable.

5) Ying Yong Tea - hubby liked this.

6) Iced Milk Tea - I loved this!!

This is not my MUST go-to place for food but a nice change once I a while lah.
