Not Quite Sure... OK Sep 06, 2011

Categories : Filipino | Restaurant | Seafood

1) Fried Lumpiang Hinirang - fried popiah with vege and minced meat

2) Calamares - who will deny deep-fried calamari? Theirs were nice and cripsy without the sotong being tough. Good job.

3) Seafood Curry - this dish is interesting. The curry gravy is not your lemak one that we all know. It's actually rather peanut-y. If you have the gravy mixed with this prawn paste, it's honestly really wicked.

4) Daing na Bangus - deep fried milk fish that is boneless. If you don't already know, milk fish is actually full of tiny bones but the flesh is sweet. Thus, this boneless version is ideal as you enjoy the flesh without working for it.

5) Katipuneros - essentially our local stewed pork and chicken in soy sauce. To me, it's ok only, nothing to remember about.

6) Chopsuey - known as chap chay locally, also nothing to rave about

7) Pork Sisig - this is not local definitely... pork ears chopped into mini bits and fried with other vege. I braved tried a mouthful and decided I do not like the texture of pig's ears. 'Nuff said.

8) Sinigang na Hipon - its a sour soup with seafood. Something like Tom yam without the spice, just the sour. It's not bad but I'll take my Tom yam Yumz anyway!!

9) Palitaw - this dessert is glutinous rice topped with shredded cheese. Interesting taste which my hubby liked but not me. It's a sweet and savory mix that didn't click with me.

10) Boni Halo-Halo - think ice kecang with condensed milk custurd, red beans, yam paste and Nata de coco. Topped with a scoop of Vanilla ice cream. What's not to love! My fav dish easily!! Thank goodness for good friends to introduce us to Filipino cuisine so we don't have to figure out blindly on our own.

Bill came up to be $45 per pax which we felt it's a little too expensive for the food we had. Not likely to return unless it's a treat! tongue

So Far Flung... OK Sep 06, 2011

Our friends returned from the States and craved crabs. So when the promo for House of Seafood came by, we decided to grab it.

When we're there, they were fully booked inside their aircon section so our table was under a large gazebo with a call-bell for service. We enquired and realized that the crabs alone will be about $45/kg for large ones and the rest of the food items were very pricy too. Thus, cheapo us only ordered the crabs.

1) Black Pepper Crab - their black pepper turned out to be a thick sauce that is very peppery and spicy. It's really kick-a*s in taste! So good we had to have mantou to slurp up the last bit of sauce!

2) Salted Egg Crab - this too was very tasty. The sauce used to cook was also nice and thick. If you are used to salted egg that's cooked till it's stuck on the shell of crab, then this is not that type. Very tasty still.

This restaurant is really tucked away in a very ulu part of Singapore so I dare say if you don't drive, it's bot likely you can find this place. Tho the food us nice, having to dine alfresco was not the best for us. In the middle of our meal, we had one fairly large millipede carry towards us, then a large spider, then a large flying bee/wasp flew into my face!!

As fo service, we had to press a table buzzer for service as we were seated in the gazebo. So it's not your best service but to be fair, they do come whenever we buzzed for them.

Not to mention we had to pay about $200 for the 3 crabs. It's too exciting a place for me to eat at.

Bought online vouchers for their Pork Sausage & Rosti Set and went there to eat with our girls in tow.

The girls shared their kid's meal which is 3 roasted chicken wings and fries. They loved it of course! I mean...fried food + kids = happiness!

Actually, big girl loved our sausages so much she had almost one whole sausage by herself!!

I found the sausage quite nice but hubby said it's a little too porky for him. The rosti were nice too.

Overall a good meal but hubby said he won't be likely to return but I'm open. smile

Hidden Find Smile Jun 04, 2017

Came here to fuel us up after mass and we had:
Seafood Tomyam Pasta - fettuccine tossed in creamy sauce that is infused with Tomyam spice. The seafood (mussels and grilled prawns) was fresh and generous in amount. Overall a tasty dish.

The Fuel Plus Burger - hubby liked his burger. He also enjoyed the Sweet potato fries that accompanied the burger!

Honey Baby Back Ribs - my FIL enjoyed his the most he declared. I tried a bite and the meat was moist yet falls-off-bone tender. Seasoning also on point.

Mad about Salmon - MIL said it's nice. Salmon meat was not dry and Rosti was great too.

Beef Mac & Cheese - daughter didn't like the shell pasta but she still polished the whole tray of baked pasta! Haha... the sauce base is tomato with cheese over it. Think it's more lasagna than Mac & Cheese really.

BBQ Cheeseburger - this should be good because my 8 year old ate the WHOLE burger unassisted! This only happens when she is super hungry or food is good. I'll lean towards the burger being good.

Parking here is road side and a nightmare so if you don't like to illegally park, you may need to do a stake-out.

Having said that, I'll find another time to try their desserts.

Quiet on Sundays Smile May 04, 2017

Categories : Thai | Fusion | Restaurant | Seafood

Came with my family to discover the restaurant very quiet on a Sunday afternoon. Only another family other than us.

We ordered many of their signature dishes and though there were not many people ordering, the food took a while to come. Lucky for us, we were enjoying a lazy Sunday lunch so we were in no rush. We saw later that the kitchen was only manned by 1 chef so maybe that's why.

The food is actually not bad, some were even very good.

The not-bad ones were:
1) Cashew Nut Chicken - a tad spicy and served over a basket of yam!
2) Grilled Pork Collar - not much taste on it's own but the accompanying dip was too sour for my liking
3) Okra - normal nice
4) Pad Thai Seafood - texture ok but a tad too sweet for my liking

The food dishes were:
1) Basil Stir-fried Pork - I didn't have any as my eldest girl ate them all and did a 👍🏼 when I exclaimed "no more for me?!"
2) Crispy Fish Skin - super crispy and laced with salted egg = Yumz
3) Olive Rice - nicely fried and fully flavour, another favourite of my eldest girl
4) Pandan Chicken - good marination so the meat was tasty and nicely fragranced with pandan
5) Prawn Cake - not the factory made ones, you can tell from the bits of prawn in the patty. Was the right kind of crunch
6) Red Curry with Roast Duck - this is an interesting dish with mild lychee sweetness and red curry spiciness in a good combo!
7) Soft Shell Crab Salad - didn't see much of the salad but the crispy soft shell crab made up for the dish
8) Tom Yam Potaek - not a big bowl but the ingredients were fresh and the soup not overly spicy that it'll kill your tastebuds.
9) Street Omelette with minced Pork - fluffy egg fried with minced pork and onion strips! Let's just say the kids ate through the first one so fast that we had to order another!
