Din Tai Fung Smile Oct 30, 2011

I believe most people will agree with me that Din Tai Fung is the place where one can find delicious xiao long bao. But besides xiao long bao, there are many dishes which one should try too. Two of the dishes which I would like to recommend are the dumplings in red chili oil and vinegar (as shown in picture) and the century eggs (as shown in picture).

Dumplings in red chili oil and vinegar - This looks oily and hot but it is not as as oily and hot as it seems, probably due to the vinegar, which I think makes the sauce kinda special and needless to say, tasty too!

Century eggs - This tastes like the one which I tried in HK, Yung Kee restaurant. Simply just melts in the mouth!

However, I feel that the service can be improved. Though it is a Chinese restaurant, there are quite a number of waitresses who can't speak Mandarin.

Asia Grand Smile Oct 26, 2011

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong

Went for lunch at Asia Grand it is having promotion for Peking Duck (as shown in picture). Indeed it is a promotion which is worth going for as the duck skin was so crispy and serving was quite generous. Definitely something which I would recommend one to order.

Besides Peking Duck, I also tried some of the Dim Sums which include the Salted Egg Yolk bun, Har Gou, Chee Cheong Fun (with prawn) and Zha Leong (which is the similar to Chee Cheong Fun except that the filling is Yu Tiao). Personally, I prefer the Salted Egg Yolk bun from Mouth Restaurant as I find that the filling (for the one which is served at Asia Grand) seemed to have hardened - the salted egg yolk paste did not ooze out after I took my first bite. As for the Har Gou and Chee Cheong Fun, they tasted good but quite similar to those which I can easily find in other Chinese restaurants. However, I was kinda pleased to know that Asia Grand serves Zha Leong as it is a Dim Sum which is not commonly found in Singapore.

Pink! Smile Oct 25, 2011

This is my visit to this restaurant and I am certain that I will visit this place again. Despite the place being kinda busy and noisy during lunch time, the service staff is prompt in helping us to find seats and we do not have to wait long (~5 mins) for food to be served.
Mostly importantly, the food tasted good and is reasonably priced. Though the salad looked plain, it tasted quite good (honestly, I was kinda surprised when I ate it).

The oven baked spaghetti which comes with soup and salad (as shown in the pictures) costs $8.90. smile

Shanghai Craze OK Oct 15, 2011

Of all the food that I had ordered, I think that the Xiao Long Bao and Salted Egg Yolk prawn are worth trying. As for the fried rice with chicken cutlet, the fried rice tasted quite good but the chicken cutlet was too salty (was wondering whether the chef accidentally added too much salt). However the minced pork noodle was a disappointment as the sauce was too watery.

Surprisingly, the service at this restaurant is quite good (not typically of most chinese restaurant). When I told the staff that the chicken cutlet (which is served together with the fried rice) was too salty, the staff apologised immediately and changed a new piece for me.

Wanna challenge your tolerance level for spiciness? You can do so at this restaurant!

Beppu Dining serves Ramen which allows you to choose the level of spiciness. Though I am a spicy food lover, I still prefer to take 1 chili, which is the lowest level, so that I can taste and enjoy my food. Previously, I have tried ramen with 2 chili (which is the 2nd lowest level) and my tongue became so numb that I couldn't taste anything!

Tori Ramen (with 1 chili) is something which I recommend one to try. The soup is so flavourful that I finished the entire bowl!
