Veggie Lover's Paradise Smile Nov 18, 2011

Categories : Indian | Vegetarian

Gokul is one place that all veggie lover's would have to visit. It does not only cater to indian cuisine but to chinese, malay and western

aswell. It is one of the only restaurants in Singapore which compromises of so many different cuisines. Their menu is definitely a stunner and may take you up to 10mins just to decide on what you would like to get since everything looks sooooo good. However, staff are friendly and helpful. They would be happy to elaborate on the dish as well as make some recommendations.

We had the Islamic Dum Biryani, Cheese & Butter Naan's, Mango Lassi, Chicken Masala & Mahi Paneer (indian cheese)

The food was scrumptious and even when we just ordered one of each dish and were sharing, we had problems finishing our meal and had to request for a take away!

Kinara @ Holland Village Smile Oct 26, 2011

Categories : Indian

I have heard loads of positive reviews in the past about Kinara. I was dying to go for awhile to find out what exactly the big fuss was about and was so glad I finally had the opportunity to experience it myself! My friend and I decided to pop over to Kinara for lunch after classes. The restaurant wasn't that hard to find the way I had anticipated.

When we arrived, the restaurant had just opened and they were in the process of changing cushion covers. However, the waitress welcomed us in and showed us to a table that was already set. The location was near the entrance and the seating was filled with cushions. The restaurant had a warm homely feel to it and the seating was extremely comfortable. It took about 10-15mins for our food to arrive. However, they served us with a starter that came free of charge (papadum served with with sweet & mint chutney)

This place would be perfect for a romantic date even in the afternoon! We shared two mains (the naan basket aswell as the Biryani and had two sides to go along - Paneer dish & Bombay aloo. Lassi is also a prominent beverage that compliments Indian food very well! I ordered the mango lassi which was very refreshing! The servings of food were huge and even when we were sharing the dishes we had problems finishing them resulting to asking for a take-away!

bowl Naan Basket; which consisted of 2pcs each of the garlic, butter and sweet naan.
The naan's were fluffy and soft!

bowl Sabz Biryani (Vegetarian)
This is one of the best vegetable biryani's I have tasted. Each bite was delightful and unlike most biryani's; it wasn't oily at all! This dish was also served with raita (which is an Indian salad of fresh carrots, onions & cucumbers immersed in yoghurt)

bowl Bombay Aloo
This potato dish was a little gravy based. It was also mildly spicy

bowl Paneer Dish (unfortunately forgot what it was called)

classic ice cream cake! Smile Mar 30, 2012

Categories : American | Ice Cream and Gelato

I wanted to get my boyfriend a special cake this year hence I decided instead of the norm chocolate cakes; I decided on an ice cream cake instead. Haagen Dazs has a variety of classic ice cream cakes and every single one looks so yummy! One of the cutest cakes around was the double chocolate royale which is guaranteed to fulfill every chocoholics desire. Dry ice was provided with the cake so that it could last for 45mins which was a pretty short time span.

The cake was topped off with rich chocolate granche. Every bite gives a melt-in-the-mouth feel. The ice cream was rich and creamy which complimented the cake generously.

Very pricy though but a sweet gesture for special occasions smile

Unbelieveable Donuts Smile Feb 13, 2012
Categories : American | Bakery

This is a memorable dining moment for me because I came here on my 23rd birthday for dessert. As my friend and I had exams the following day. We decided to treat ourselves to donuts while studying. Not only do the donuts look tempting, they also taste amazing! I was so thrilled when Dunkin' Donuts finally opened at changi airport as I frequent the airport a lot for late dinner's/suppers. I rushed over to order 1/2 a dozen of donuts. There are quite a lot of varieties to choose from (but they tend to disappear off the shelves later in the evening!). As I was here in the morning, I was spoilt for choice as there were just too many varieties to choose from!

I ordered..

Oreo: There were crushed oreo bits on the donut along with swirls of cream to sweeten the deal. The donut was not very sweet and made a good snack

Smiley face: The smiley faced donut was actually custard. It looked really cute but I found the filling a little blunt for my liking

Double Chocolate: Definitely one of my favorites. It had chocolate on the outside as well as chocolate on the inside!

Chocolate Pudding: This was probably the best of the lot even though it looked pretty average. There was icing on the donuts and chocolate on the inside! with every bite, chocolate oozed out from the donut which made it so irresistible.

Perfect for dine in's and take away! I also tried their smoothies and espresso's which were really amazing! I would say, they tasted better then the other coffee joints. It's not a crime to be a sweet tooth and these treats are not that expensive either.

The outlet is pretty quiet on weekdays and students are even allowed to study here.

Soupy noodles Smile Feb 08, 2012
Categories : Shanghainese

One of my favorite comfort foods at this restaurant has got to be their vegetarian noodle soup. The noodles are well cooked in a delicious broth. The ingredients are pretty generous and included a few mock meats, mushrooms, beancurd, corn, carrots among other ingredients. Another thing I love about this restaurant is their yummy soya sauce with chili. I am often very particular about soy sauce and most restaurants don't exactly offer good sambal chili or soy sauce which either makes or breaks the meal. Especially if one is into flavor and spicy food. The bowl of noodles was a pretty big portion and was sufficient alone to make one full. $8 also seems to be very reasonable for the quantity as well as quality. The only thing I detest is the idea that customers are charged for wet tissues or any snack that is seen on the table.

Vegetarian Noodle Soup 8/10
