I've had friends who raved about Orange lantern to me before but being not really a friend of viet cuisine, the place didnt really come across my mind when im looking for a place to eat. However, as the vivocity food court is always crowded on weekends, I decided to give a harbourfront centre a try and finally had the chance to try out Orange Lantern.

In terms of environment, I must warn you that the seats are abit tattered and torn, menu had some pages torn out, but the affordable food price and quality makes up for the ambience. There were so many things i wanted to try and looking around at the other diners, all their food looks delicious! My bf tried the beef pho, which had a very very tasty broth and perfect for someone who wants to eat light. Another good thing is they are super generous with the slices of beef and beef balls, which made the dish very value for money.

I had the grilled chicken set, which i must say is good for variety, but taste wise, the chicken was alright only. If you look at the picture carefully, you will see this piece of grainy thing next to the chicken. This was actually a kind of meat loaf made from chicken and I really find it quite unique and tasty! As I don't like to eat rice, having eggs, chicken, meat load and some cucumbers very diet friendly as well. I would still recommend the pho though and will be back to try their summer rolls!

Huber's Deli was definitely one of the hottest stall at Pasarbella with a long queue! Why so? Because food was cooked right in front of you (means its hot and fresh!) and the sausages fresh.. and best of all, the bread is real bread! What do i mean.. my bf, being french, feels that the 'bread' here in singapore is often too soft because he is used to the baguette in France. I would say that the kind of bread Huber's serves has more bite and much more like the baguette kind of bread. We tried the spicy pork sausage and the chicken one. I much prefer chicken because it was less oily, and loved the caramelised onion on it! everything was put together very well, especially with the mustard. for the spicy pork sausage, they used sauerkraut to balance out the oiliness and had some bits of bacon on it. It was alright but probably someone who prefers the meat taste would like this more than the chicken. Would definitely eat this again!

Ichiban Boshi is not new to lovers of Japanese food in Singapore... for full review please go to kopidiem.wordpress.com

For their new opening, there was a special promotion and I took it: Kaizen teppan and spicy ika wazen

The portions for the 2 slices of fish and 2 prawns were a bit small but nevertheless very tasty. The sauce was a sweet and tomato-ey type;chawanmushi was very smooth and you could taste the seafood stock used as well. Fried calamari was crispy and squid were fresh.

But the highlight of our meal was my bf’s meal–a beef hotplate, with seared salmon and black pepper fried dory! Very sumptuous huh? I tasted the beef gravy and found it tasty but a tad salty. I realised that the food in ichiban boshi is very tasty, but mostly because they use very heavy sauce. He really loved the beef and said it was once of the best he had eaten here in sg.

The dory was quite normal, and the seared salmon even came with a sauce.. its supposed to be a bit like seared tuna, with the outside cooked and inside still raw. Good nonetheless but perhaps with this freshness taking it raw was better?

My only gripe was the gyoza.. it was fried, not panfried, and came in a heavy teriyaki type sauce again. Too much fried, and because it was in the sauce, not crispy anymore. I would not recommend this dish.

All in all we were very very satisfied and they can be sure we would be regulars!

I have always loved coffee and cafes and was very glad when my friend.... (read the full review at kopidiem.wordpress.com )

Having just eaten at Tampopo just weeks before, I have high expectations of the food by the group and was sure that Dulcet & Studio would not let me down. Sure it didn't! While we were not really feeling for lunch portions, I recommended my friend to try the cream puff together as online reviews seemed to rave about it. We were not disappointed! Having said that, there were so many cakes and desserts that looked so sinfully tempting and mouth-watering! There was this one that caught my eye.. the C Cube.. I want u!

I had Beard Papa in mind and I must say the cream in this little piece of delight was much creamier and rich than the one by Beard Papa! The outer layer was slightly different though.. Beard Papa's puff were more towards the custard puff choux pastry type while the one by Dulcet is a thicker more crusty texture. I would say to each his own but i prefer the chewy texture of choux pastry. Coffee was good but forgettable. I loved the environment and still, stands by Tampopo!

I remember fish & Co ... read the full review at kopidiem.wordpress.com

Today, Fish & Co has definitely grow much bigger in terms of the number of outlets they have and in terms of the variety of food they serve. Not only are they selling just one type of fish & Chips, they now boast 9 different types of fish and chips– Italian, Danish, Swiss, Singapore and even Bombay! They also serve chicken and pasta dishes.. and im glad they have so many variety of fish, and let you choose your sides as well!

Barramundi with sambal

Barramundi with sambal

I ordered the white fish with sambal and got 2 sides of veg (low carb!) and the fish was a generous portion with a sambal which tasted very ‘malay’ style. Just the right amount of kick without overwhelming spiciness. I was also missing the grilled squid with black spice in the seafood platter i used to love so much and it still tasted good to me! Ordering the grilled calamari as a side also means that they gave the squids that are bigger and they were really very succulent! Over the mild peppery spice they also had a small amount of lemon butter sauce on it. Im not a lover of sotong and what’s more, non-fried version was never something I would usually order, except at Fish & Co! The Angmoh kia wasnt very used to this and said he still prefers the more traditional fried calamari. He ordered “The Best Fish & Chips”, which is the original from Fish & Co. This comes with the their signature lemon butter sauce and I must say he wasnt disappointed, just a tad oily on the inside. It was nice that the batter was not too thick and you still get a good chunk of fish meat.

Im so gonna come back for more for satisfying dinners. My dad and aunt saw the pictures i posted on fb and Im sure Fish & Co will see more patrons! =)
