Prawns in my mee rebus? OK Apr 12, 2013

Categories : Singaporean

If you want to try Killiney, dont bother coming during lunch hour. Looong que and other people, usually the office people, are like walking around like hawks seeing whoever that is about to be done. Not a comfortable position to be that person!

So I tried their Mee Rebus, must say its just average to me. No big of deal. Kinda disappointing cause i would expect better quality since i paid 6.90 for it and a drink. I had to remind myself that the prawns they gave had to compensate for the price i paid. Apprently didnt work. Bleuh. Maybe i made the wrong choice? I should have opted for the Curry Chicken that i see many of their customer were ordering.

So maybe you might think of skipping the mee rebus and opt for the curry chicken too no? smile

New Found Favorite Smile Mar 25, 2013

Was house hunting with a friend and as we were walking along the streets of Katong, there we spotted this cafe in the middle of the shop-houses sticking out like a fly in a glass of milk. It was all white with big bold Pies & Coffee in black and orange. The coffee certainly caught my attention!

Popped our heads in.. the place is empty! Awesome for us.. so we took a look at the menu, and we didn't know where to begin. I definitely needed a nice tall glass of iced coffee so i got myself the Hazelnut Latte. My friend took his time deciding which pie to stuff his face with. And as i waited for him.. i got myself a slice of Chicago Cheese Cake as well to go along with the iced coffee.

The staffs were really friendly and attentive. Really a great bunch of crew.

So eventually my friend decided on the Duck Confit Pie which looks super orgasmic.... Served warm, the crust were easy to cut through. The duck was alright, although i loved the mashed potatoes. My chicago Cheese cake however was not what i expected though but my dear friend here kept stuffing his face with it. He thought it tasted exactly like his mom's recipe. Good for him then. Its not cheesy enough for me but at least the cake wasn't flaky. It was smooth and silky in texture, goes well with my iced coffee.

I would definitely would want to make a return trip here. There's so much more to try.. i recall seeing Lamb Shank Pie ... Wagyu Beef Cheek Pie and Peach Pie!!!!!! Thankfully my friend, is moving right opposite the shophouses.. so more visits for us!

Favorite supper spot Smile Mar 11, 2013

This is one of my favorite spot for supper. I dont need to go all the way to Jalan Kayu for Prata.
Here is good enough!

Saffron is always busy on weeknights. Its hard to find a place to seat.. you can always see people standing around, lurking for places to seat.Luckily its was only the 3 of us, so it was slightly easier for us to settle down. Was hard to get the attention of the floor staff. They're so busy serving or clearing up dishes. Took a while before we could ordered.

Saffron is well known to the eastsiders for their Mee Goreng. I love to get Kway Teow and Bee Hoon mixed. It has enough char to give it an oopmh!! The redness makes it soo enticing! There's enough mutton and peas to satisfy me. And then i have the Iced Teh Tarik to accompany it along! Damn shiok i tell ya!

But what i didn't like was the mutton soup that my friend ordered for us to share. The gravy was too thick to my liking. the muttons were tender, but the taste was just bland to me.. not enough spices for my own liking.

A dear friend of mine thought it was a good idea to get drunk on a Tuesday night.

So we decided to chill out at the Oriole Cafe & Bar. My kinda drunk its caffeine drunk so that i can be sober and recall how my friend makes a fool of himself tongue

Anyway... Not only did he ordered a pint of Tiger, being the sweet tooth that he is, he ordered the sticky date pudding.
That dish has more alcohol than that pint of Tiger. The alcohol content is soo strong in that lil one.

Its really not to my liking. The sauce was alright to me. The pudding was soft but honestly.. too much alcohol.. so its like bleugh..

My friends decided to come over my area one night for dinner. They asked me whats good and cheap and the same time. So i brought them here.

My family and I have been patrons of this stall for over 15 years. We know the owners well enough, their kids and myself went to the same school.

They serves different variety of dishes. And my favorite has always been their Beef Kway Teow Hong Kong and Black Pepper crab. But that day i wasnt feeling rich.. so had to make do without it.lol

The serving was generous, the gravy wasn't too thick. The beef wasn't that easy to chew but it was still okay. Not bad for a $4 dish
