VERY GOOD! Smile Jul 30, 2013

This was the most number of dishes I ever ordered from a nasi padang stall. I ordered 3 vegetables, and 2 meat! HAHA! It was really funny too see the shock on the macik’s face as she saw this girl ordering more and more! I had a reason though, I was sharing with a friend so I was given the liberty to order whatever I want!
I chose the brinjal, spinach and ladyfingers for my vegetable and sotong and beef rendang for the meat.
The smell was absolutely amamzing! Vegetables all tasted really good as usual due to my love of vegetables. All of it tasted really fresh and not extremely spicy. The sotong was a tad too spicy for me but I was able to ingest it as the rice made it less spicy. Even if it’s way too spicy for me I’ll still swallow it happily as it was really good! Lastly, the main ingredient that I really like is the beef rendang. I love how the beef is really soft and in small cubes for easy ingestion. The gravy that accompanied it had a very strong distinctive taste which leaves you wanting for more!
If you’re ever in this area, stop by to try the malay food! With the friendly service from the macik and this absolutely tasty food, you won’t regret wasting some calories here!

The baby ribs here are absolutely amazing. Drenched in Chili’s famous sauce and slow cooked to perfection. The meat is really soft and juicy, easy to pull apart from each bone along the ribs. Every mouth of these ribs brings you closer and closer to heaven as you chew the meat without much effort.
You’re allowed to choose 2 side dishes for the main course. I chose their classic French fries and corn on the cob. The fries were piping hot when served, filed with potato; it was really fat and nice! The corn is wonderful too, showered in butter and baked slowly, it leave a nice residual taste in your mouth. It is not overly buttered but if you’re on a date, you may want to avoid this as eating corn can get pretty mess. A trick that I always use is to use the knife to grind the corn out, like a corn grinder. Moving your knife as though you’re cutting a piece of meat. You not only look lady-like/man-like,, you can impress your date without looking like a pretentious person/a barbarian.
This place gets pretty busy during lunch/dinner hours especially on Friday-Sunday as people come out to play. You may want to call in for reservations to avoid the long queue.

I never realized that Choa Chu Kang had such nice food! From the simply Baker Talent which is cheap and good to the ananas cafe which serve $2 chicken rice, this can be considered a small food haven to diners!

Further down the mrt station that's outside a jewellery shop is Pie Kia (a cheeky pun! haha!). As I walk through the place, I could smell the freshly baked pies! It seems to get sold out pretty quickly as they have a promotion now (buy 5 get 1 free). I guess this makes it faster to clear too.

I got 3 different flavours, 2 of the same thing each. Ham and cheese, black pepper chicken and roasted chicken.
They all more or less tasted the same but they were all really good! I like that the filling stays intact and not drop all over the place even though you've bit into it. The crust was also flaky and crispy. If you eat it immediately, the filling inside is still very hot!

It's definitely good for breakfast as it's not too heavy but you still get to fill your stomach with these little pies!

Bring me to thailand! Smile Jul 30, 2013

From Siam Kitchen to ThaiExpress, Singapore is no stranger to Thai food. I, of course, want to try every thai food establishment there is in this tiny island

Poo Phat Pong Kari (Ric with Soft Shell Crab, Egg, and Onion Curry) - $12.90 (Description on the menu says that this dish was created by a thai and japanese chef for their wedding dinner!)
How romantic is that! Creating your own food at your wedding!

I love the combination of these 2 cuisine as both of them are contending for my most favourite cuisine. The amalgamation of these 2 cuisine together is an angel's gift for mankind. The soft scream crab was soft and the sauce that was poured along it made it either softer and more flavourful. Did i mention that i ove this combination!
The Jasmine Rice was also very fragrant. I often wonder what type of rice they use to cook such a nice-smelling rice.

Eating the soft shell crab together with the rice was a very good experience!

Being a member of this establishment, I frequently patronize ajisen ramen whenever it is one of the dining options. During the 3rd monday of every month, members get a 50% off on all ramens. This is very worth it as for about $5-6, you can get one hot bowl of soup and noodles! Hard to come by nowadays where prices are always increasing instead of going south.

I ordered the seafood ramen and this has always been my favourite as the soup broth is always very tasty, the noodle was soft and easy to chew (which I like). you can also slurp them up for the fun of it! They are also very generous with their ingredients which includes Japanese crabmeat, scallop, beansprouts and sotong. Pretty worth it for a price of $11 considering that Ramen takes an effort to produce. If you would like a set menu (1 side dish and a drink), the seafood ramen will amount to $14.90.

Do give it a try and of course, become a member to enjoy better discounts!
