Since it was hubby's birthday on the 10th of April and we couldn't celebrate it as it was Good Friday so we decided to go for lunch in lieu of it on the 14th of April. It was a Saturday and after a nice relaxing morning we left home at around 11.30am and set out to Megumi's for lunch. It was our second visit there and it seems to get better and better.
We arrived at our destination at 12.30 and the waiter took us to our seats and handed us the menu and we took a quick glance at it and we knew what we would like to try this time. Hubby ordered for Gyu Katsu curry, while I ordered for my favorite dish Hokubee Teppan Yaki (I had eaten it the last time as well and I wanted to eat it again since it is very delicious), my son said he wanted to eat Saikoro Steak and we also ordered a bowl of salad and a bowl of rice called Shiro Gohan. And Coke for our drinks. Our food was served to us in a short while and we all indulged in our really yummy food. I tasted the Gyu Katsu Curry which hubby was eating and it was very delicious...specially the gravy and the meat was cooked nice and tender. My Hokubee Teppan Yaki was the best the taste of the tender meat lingered in my mouth even after I had finished my meal. The bowl of rice was yummy and can be eaten just the way it is. Even the Saikoro Steak is very delicious and juicy.
I have recommended Megumi Japanese Restaurant to all my friends and relatives who visit Singapore on a holiday.

Yummy Thali's at Namastaey India Smile May 03, 2012

Categories : Indian | Vegetarian

It was a nice Sunday evening and we were relaxing at home watching Television, when my hubby came up with the idea to go to Mustafa for some shopping. So we got ready and set off enjoying our MRT ride to Farrer Park. We shopped for groceries and other items and then by the time we finished it was past 8.00pm. So we decided to walk to Namastaey India for some Thali meal since we were really very hungry. When we arrived we were shown our tables and then the waiter gave us the Menu card to select our food. We looked through the whole menu and then we selected 3 thali's. Hubby chose the Punjabi Set Thali, while our son said he wanted to try the Namaste India Set Thali and I chose the Jain Thali for myself. For drinks we ordered Strawberry Lassi and Mango Lassi. Our thali's were brought to us in a very short ttime and we began to enjoy our food. The dals and the naans were yummy and very delicoius and so were the Paneer dish. Each Thali had a unique preparation of Daals, Panner, Raita and vegetable along with some papad and pickle. We really enjoyed our meal and then sipped our lassi. We liked the Mango Lassi more than the Starwberry lassi.
I would surely recommend Namastaey India to my friends who love Thali meals since their food is yummy and delicious.

Cataplana at it's best Smile May 03, 2012

1st of May being labor day we decided to visit Istana (The Presidents Palace) since we had never been there before. We had a very nice and lovely experience there and we also got a glimpse of nature at it's best and of course the palace doors were open so we got a chance to venture and see some amazing artifacts.
After we were done and were out of the Istana main gates it was already 1.30pm, so we decided to visit Nando's for lunch since we were highly recommended of it by our friends. When we arrived we were in the queue for only a few seconds when the waitress showed us our seats and we made ourselves comfortable. We were then given the menu and we looked through it and decided to order Cataplana Porto, one Mild and the other Hot. We also ordered Peri Chips and for the drinks we ordered Rosa Fresca and Coke. Our meal arrived in about 7mins time and it was served in nice copper vessels. We indulged in our yummy cataplana's and sipped our drinks specially Rosa Fresca which went perfectly well with our food. The mushroom and the chicken were nice and tender and cooked to perfection and I can still feel the taste in my mouth as I am writing this smile The chips had an unique flavour thanks to the peri peri sprinkle on it.
Nando's turned out to be an amazing place to eat and we do hope to visit there more often and try out their out unique dishes.

Since we were heading off for our Friends son's birthday we thought of picking up a cake since the kids all love cakes. We placed an order with Emicakes at Choa Chu Kang for an Chocolate Oreo Craze | Chocolate Cake, we wanted it eggless since there were many non veg guest at the party as well. We placed the order the previous day and the next morning just before we could go for the party we went to emicakes and picked up our parcel.
As expected the cake turned out to be a hit at the party and the kids enjoyed it to the max. The cake was nice and soft and the texture and taste were both great. Everyone were talking about the delicious cake and they asked us from where we bought the delicious cake and we proudly answered in anonymous "Emicakes" lol
Emicakes has always been our first choice where cake's are concerned. Any occasion Christmas, New Year and Easter!

Hot Cross Buns Smile Apr 10, 2012
Categories : Bakery

Hot Cross Buns...Hot Cross Buns! One a penny Two a penny Hot cross buns. Well! That what the kids demanded when we returned home from Easter Mass, that too at 12.30 in the night. They kept harping and singing out the poem to us.
So the next morning I went to Four leaves and bought 4 buns for all of us to enjoy. The buns were priced at $1.20 each and 4 for $4.10. It was worth the price since the buns were fresh and nice and warm. The kids ate their buns with butter and hubby and I ate them just the way they were. The raisins in the buns were delicious too! We all enjoyed our hot cross buns and enjoyed our Easter day too smile
