Brought my buddy here for a birthday treat. It was lunchtime on a Friday and it was packed to the brim! But we got seats pretty quickly.
Seared Scallop Linguini

Seared Scallop Linguini

I had the Seared Scallop Linguini ($24). Cooked in tiger prawn bisque, those who like the strong seafood taste in their pasta would love this dish. Nice, firm scallops, seared perfectly. It's actually quite filling.
Steak & Eggs

Steak & Eggs

My friend ordered the Steak & Eggs ($38). This was one of the most pricey items on the menu, but we both felt it was worth it. I swear they prepared it with truffle oil or something, I know my truffle! He wanted it medium rare and the chef did a fantastic job delivering just that.
Strawberries & Cream Cupcake

Strawberries & Cream Cupcake

Lastly, for desserts, we ordered the Red Velvet and Strawberries & Cream cupcakes (both $4.50). My friend loved the Red Velvet, but as for myself, it was my first time trying Strawberries & Cream after hesitating before during a few visits, and I fell in love!! S&C is admittedly, a very boring choice for a cupcake flavour, but I am a sucker for strawberry-anything and cream-anything. The buttermilk cupcake was so moist and fluffy, same goes for the frosting. What I loved about it was that it was a very light, heavenly (literally) dessert. I've had strawberry/cream cupcakes elsewhere and they're usually tooooo heavy. This was PERFECT! lol

Impressive Korean BBQ Smile Feb 13, 2013

Everyone around me has been raving about this place. One evening, I finally made it here for a gathering.

The place looks like an authentic Korean restaurant, from the interior to the decor. It's best suited to big groups and it's actually very noisy inside so you needn't worry about keeping quiet or lowering your voice.

We ordered loads to share. Unfortunately I cannot remember any of the names of the dishes so I hope pictures will do for now (one of the things I struggle with for Korean cuisine). The pork belly (first image) was very good and they were generous with the slices. The pancake (second picture) was actually so-so, but it was quite forgettable. Not to say it was bad or anything though. We also ordered some beef thingy which tasted superb (third picture). Some other items that were not captured include Budae Jjigae soup (stew with ham, sausage, kimchi and tofu) and more beef stuff.

The portions here are actually quite small, so much so that we had to order a second round of meat. I was still hungry after, but then again I have a huge appetite! ONHJ's also on the pricey side but the food's definitely worth the price. I want to come back!

(Dessert) heaven on earth Smile Feb 13, 2013

I was astounded at the dessert selection here - I suppose it's called Seventh Heaven for that very reason!

I had the Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Pie (top left - $8.80) and Marshmallow Brownie Crunch (lower right - $8.80). Peanut butter fans would die for a bite of the peanut butter choco chip pie. It's very, very rich and the sweetness is, surprisingly, not overwhelming at all.

As for the brownie crunch, it's a messy, gooey, fudgy affair. It's a good idea to share this, it's a tad much for one person.

My colleagues told me about this place and since Friday's "spend a little more on nice food" day, we decided on Marmalade Toast for lunch.

I ordered the cold prawn wrap, which had avocado slices in it. Not a big fan of that creamy stuff, but it added a nice touch. The prawns were fresh and firm.

For dessert, we ordered the red velvet (left) and smores cupcake (right). The red velvet is so-so, smores was a little bit too sweet and the textures in the cupcake were kinda all over the place. I'm guessing this is a sub-outlet of Marmalade Pantry so it's the same range of cupcakes as the ones there.

P.S. The reason why I'm giving this store a low rating for the cleanliness portion is cos when they were preparing the food in the open kitchen, the lady was coughing right into our food. It was really gross. I had to tell the cashier before they stopped her. Ugh....

Junk food galore at EWF Smile Feb 13, 2013

Great

Great

EWF is an eatery that won't let you down. I've been here several times, but this was my first time trying the Slider Burger. It was really good! The bacon strips with mushrooms, meat and melted cheese were so sinfully delicious. I didn't finish everything cos the meal's actually quite filling. Also loved the salt & vinegar fries - my standard choice when I'm here.
