Delightful Delights Smile Dec 31, 2010
Categories : Hakka | Food Court

The famous Mei Zhen has opened another outlet at Ion Orchard!

My mum would regularly buy breakfast for me here as my family loved their Hakka Delights.

Abacus Seeds: When I was young, I would look forward to eating abacus seeds, because I don't get to eat them all the time. I still look forward to eating it now. Those springy and chewy abacus seeds with fried onion and spring onion make a very hearty breakfast!

Yam Porridge: Hardly eat this dish. I don't find it very appetizing as there's hardly any surprise from this bowl of porridge.

Have lunch at Pepper Lunch Smile Dec 31, 2010

Categories : Japanese | Food Court | Steaks and Grills

I love cooking by myself at Pepper Lunch more than at steamboat restaurants. At Pepper Lunch, I have my own hotplate of food in front of me for me to toss around and drizzle any amount of sauce. Though some of my friends do not like there because of the food and the oil spilling onto them, I love eating there!

For this visit, I ordered one of the most expensive dishes, the Rib Eye Steak. Oh boy! The steak is very soft and chewy and because it is cooked under high heat, it forces out the juice in the meat. Love it with my favourite corn!

As always, an ice-cream to end off the satisfying meal. Just pick green tea, same as me!

What a fine place! Smile Dec 31, 2010

My first time at Lawry's to try their Festive 5-Course Set Dinner at 95++ per person.

The set dinner consists of the following items:

Fresh warm homemade Limpa and Sourdough Bread

Lawry's Famous Original Spinning Bowl Salad: The waitress would perform a spinning routine in front of the customers as she stirred the greens in a bowl surrounded by ice. Sprinkle Seasoned Pepper on it! Delicious!

Seafood Tower: Originally I thought it would look like a tower, but it's scallop, shrimp and seabass drizzled with dill lime sauce. Tangy flavours!

Ham & Pumpkin Chowder: Strong pumpkin taste and smell. Perfect for pumpkin lovers!

Roast Prime Ribs of Beef & Turkey and Roasted Honey Glazed Turkey: Two types of main courses to choose from. The former has both beef and turkey. Personally, I prefer the former dish as I get to eat two kinds of meat and won't get tired of just feasting on turkey alone.

Oven Baked Bread Pudding: Soft and sweet with ice-cream indulgence!

Italian Coffee/Gryphon Artisan Teas served with Praline Chocolate: Choose the tea for a more exquisite experience. The waitress brought a suitcase in front of me and there were around a selection of 10 different tea flavours to choose from! The tea was served in a pot which could fill around 3 cups. I chose the mint flavour and ended up drinking it with the mint chocolates as well. Too minty!

Overall, I find that this was a pleasant fine dining experience, comfy seats, classy decor and attentive servers.

Get the Mushroom Broth Smile Dec 31, 2010

Categories : Singaporean | Restaurant | Steamboat/Hot Pot

Kichi Kichi is just like any other steamboat outlet, only with a different concept - plates of food items on conveyor belts. You can choose between sitting at the counter, where you get your own individual pot, or at the booth with friends, where you share a pot with two broths.

Although it's a different concept, there's not much uniqueness in the food. However, the meats were nice to look at, as they were sliced thinly and rolled up.

Try their signature Mushrooom Broth! Savoury and juicy plump mushrooms inside! I drank many bowls of the soup! A notable food item is the cheese fish cake. I was surprised to find cheese inside when I took a bite. Some items were hard to find again once you missed taking them, such as the dumpling. Only saw it twice and ate one plate of it.

And when I get tired of eating the steamboat items, I would grab a plate of jelly to cool down! Prompt service in clearing the plates.

Convenient Jap fast food Smile Dec 31, 2010

Categories : Japanese

Came across this eating place after I watched a movie at The Cathay. Tried their bento sets and especially loved their snacks.

During my recent dining experience at Quickbite, I ordered the chicken bento rice. There were 4 well-marinated chicken sticks that were tenderific!

My all-time favourite: Japanese Iced Milk Tea! I love the sweetness of the tea and I just can't stop slurping it!

Their snacks are my favourites too, such as potato wedges, squid beard and gyoza! However, sometimes the food would be over-fried and thus ooze out a lot of oil.

Service is fast and there are seats at the side for customers to dine and watch the cooking.

New promotions are launched every now and then, offering lower prices if set meals are bought. At times, some of their popular items such as soft shell crab, milk tea and gyoza would be out of stock.
