I love eating Japanese bentos as I get to eat at least 2 different food items with rice, soup and fruit. So I ordered the Salmon & Takoyaki Bento. At $5.90, I do not think that this bento is value-for-money. The salmon was served in a small portion size and meat was thin. Sauce was not bad though. The takoyaki balls were chewy but I wished they had a specialty sauce to go with them. This set could be presented better by offering fruits instead of the pickled veggies.

Ebi Curry Smile Mar 07, 2011

I love prawns, especially fried prawns, so I ordered the Ebi Curry Set as it was also selling at a promotional price of $5, a $1 discount off the usual price. Takeaway costs 20 cents more. The stall owner was considerate to pack the fried ebi separately from the curry rice. Therefore when I take a bite of the ebi, it was still crispy. The curry carrots, onions and potatoes were soft and went really well with the rice. The meal would be perfect if there was some dessert to go with it.

Cakes for all occasions OK Mar 07, 2011

It is grandma’s birthday and I wanted to get a cake for her. Browsing through the catalogue, I picked a strawberry cake decorated with fresh strawberries on top, as chocolate may be too heaty for her. It looked pretty, with my birthday wishes of longevity for her written in cream. However, the taste was average. Faint hint of strawberry in the cream. It’s now up to other cake flavours to win me over.

I was walking around the shopping centre when I spotted a promotion at McDonald’s dessert kiosk: 1-for-1 milkshakes! I was craving for something sweet so bought it to share with my mum. The staff serving me was a young boy, who was polite and friendly in his service. Glad that Macs is willing to hire and train inexperienced staff and putting them on the frontline to learn.

Both chocolate and strawberry milkshakes tasted creamy and sweet and it’s a good deal to get it at 50% off!

Normally I buy bird’s nest found in supermarkets, so when I came across Dragon Brand Bird’s Nest, I find it costly. Though their bird’s nest cost a little pricey for me, it is definitely worth it! Packed in individual bottles and sealed in canisters, the quality of the bird’s nest is guaranteed. This is the best bird nest that I had ever tasted! The sweetness is just right and I get to savour huge strips of bird’s nest. It’s really a soothing and refreshing treat!
