Bengawang solo is one of the few places left in Singapore that sells traditional cakes snacks and kuehs. I really like their kuehs which are always consistently good and tasty. The kuehs made fresh are mostly good but one that stands out for me is the ondeh ondeh! They are so much fun to eat, bursting in your mouth when you bite into them! The skins are not too thick too with a good proportion of gula Melaka to skin ratio.

The Rojak here is very good. The sauce is thick and very complex in terms of flavour being salty sweet and sour all at once. They are very generous with the peanuts as well which add alot of extra flavour and crunch to the dish and brings the flavour up to a new dimension. The you char Kway pieces are also toasted before being tossed in with the salad so that they are crispy on the outside whole still being soft and chewy on the inside. The queue is always very long and I had to wait about half an hour in line though.

Kuriya has good sushi that is pretty affordable comparative to many other places. We always get some California rolls which are my favorite!! There are premium California rolls here which come with higher quality seafood and lots and lots of egg roe! The roe is salty and pops in your mouth when you eat the sushi making it an absolutely delight to eat! The seasoning of the rice is also spot on.

Tiong bahru bakery has really good pastries and breads. I particularly enjoy their almond croissant. I always get the one that has chocolate in it too! The croissant is substantial and very delicious. A chocolate croissant is split and filled with delicious almond paste which has a nutty buttery flavour. On top of that the whole thing is dusted with lots of icing sugar which makes it look appealing and adds some sweetness to the already sweet pastry.

The ice cream here is pretty good! The Nutella ice cream I got was smooth and creamy tasting freshly made. The Nutella taste was very evident and the flavour was intensified by chunks of hazelnuts in the ice cream. Not too sweet but still rich enough, the ice cream had great balance of flavours and came together very nicely. Not too expensive too! With two scoops costing six dollars.
