Bak Chor Mee OK Apr 23, 2014

http://phuachiuyen.wordpress.com/2013/04/14/bak-chor-mee-bendemeer-market-food-centre/

Hi there! Today I went to Bendemeer Market & Food Centre. I chanced upon a bak chor mee stall and the queue’s like WOW always so long. So typical me just queued. It was a pretty fast queue. I got a little amused when it reached my turn because the boss told me the fishball+bak chor mee (no. 1) was sold out. OMG I thought no food for me. Then he kindly introduced bak chor mee (no. 3) to my brother & I. We went “Oh okay (since it’s our first visit and we were blur sotongs…)…” and then he said ours were the last two bowls left. Lucky us! I even hear passerbys commenting “This stall forever long queue.”.
OMG and then he just switched off all the lights of the stall.
Time Check: It’s only like 12noon++ and they are closing! Okay, that’s kind of FAST.
They do kindly tell the rest queuing that everything’s sold out. Okay, I was totally speechless. GOT SO POPULAR OR LIMITED MEH?!
The only best part I like about this bak chor mee was the light brown extremely crispy dumpling alike thingy. Everything else was pretty normal like any other bak chor mee. It’s very cheap by the way – only $2.50 for a decently big bowl mee with lots of bak chor, a few chewable pig livers and some lean meat. Oh yes, there’s one to two miserably small mushrooms too.
The accompanying seaweed soup’s kinda salty to me though. The mee was not very hot, so I was a little disappointed.
Overall, I felt it’s just so-so and not a must-try.
Customer service wise – the bosses were very friendly and would repeat our orders to us before they cook. Customer service ftw! Maybe that explains the popularity and scarcity of their food……..
TRY IT IF YOU’RE IN THE VICINITY!

Yoshinoya OK Apr 23, 2014
Categories : Japanese | Fast Food | Kids-Friendly

Beef rice bowl from Yoshinoya. The beef’s very very thin and there’s quite some bits of fats. It was a little salty too. Not too chewy. Couldn't taste too much on its texture.

The fries were super crispy & good!!!!!!!!!!!! Anything hot and filled with potato rarely goes wrong.

Oh the meal also comes with a small drink and nicely packed utensils. I bought student meal for $5.95. Quite worth it right?

Suntec's outlet OK Apr 23, 2014

Categories : American

The ultimate, $12.50. Slightly salty bacon, thick beef patty, normal egg, tasty hot dogs, crispy bread with butter, sweet corn and cherry tomato. Overall good combination and very filling. I rate it 4/5! A good hearty breakfast. The thick beef patty was a little too thick though. Would be better if it's thinner a bit.

The breaded shitake mushrooms ($5.80) were very crunchy and the crispy soft shell crabs ($12.80) were the bomb man! Super tasty with the curry mayo sauce! Very unique, first time ate soft shell crabs with curry mayo sauce. Slightly oily though. Can’t get enough of those crabs… yummy! Good place and vintage ambience to relax and enjoy those bites and finger food. Not much of a crowd as well. Can choose to sit inside or outside to enjoy the seaview and breeze.
