Taiwanese Food Craves Smile Sep 26, 2013
Categories : Taiwanese

Been 4years since I last visit Taiwan and I am missing Taiwan food such as Ah Zong Mian Xian, lu rou fan and Chicken Cutlet. Been sourcing around for nice, yummy Taiwanese food but cannot really find one that I like till I chance upon this Ke Kou Wei...

The mee suan that is sold here has 2 favours for customers to choose from: the usual oyster mee suan or the pork ribs mee suan. I have chosen the oyster mee suan, the soup is thick and yet not starchy, the oysters are fresh and the soup is tasty and flavourful. For the oyster mee suan, they have set available at $7.30 that include either the crispy chicken/popcorn chicken/Crispy pork/crispy calamari/mushroom fritters and a drink.. personally, I find this set quite worth the money as the serving is quite huge and is very filling..

As I am eating outside, I decide to buy the popcorn chicken for the mee suan set for easy consumption. The popcorn chicken is crispy on the outside and yet tender and juicy on the inside. Still very nice and crispy even when I eat it when its no longer hot.

I also buy a packet of lu rou fan ($4.80)for my hubby, hubby says this is nice, the minced pork is well marinated and the soya sauce is thick and yummy.. this rice also come with 1 braised egg and some prickled vegetables...

The food here is reasonably priced and I will definitely come back to try the other food again..

Recommended Dish(es):  Oyster Mee Suan

Spending per head: Approximately $7(Other)

Tze Char Stall in Chinatown Smile Sep 23, 2013

Categories : Singaporean Chinese | Coffeeshop | Seafood | Zi Char

My friend came with her friends the other day and she decide to ask us for dinner at this Kok Sen Restaurant again. A small coffee shop that is located near Hotel 1929. It can be very packed during dinner time and so do come early for seats.

Claypot Yong Tau Foo, think this is one of the specialty as most of the tables will order this. The yong tau foo is deep fried and simmer in a delightfully nice and thick sauce. This does not cause the yong tau foo to become soggy but instead it absorb the sauce and you can still taste the prawns in the paste. A very nice dish.

Hor Fun, I think this is one of the best hor fun I have tasted so far. Their hor fun has the wok hei taste and the sauce is nice with strong taste of seafood. The ingredients they use are fresh and we wiped this out in minutes.

Fried spring chicken, the staff that takes our order recommend this dish to us. The chicken is tender and juicy. The skin is crispy and it tastes even better if you dip and eat with the salt/pepper they provide together with this dish.

Spare ribs king, nice dish. Thou the meat is deep fried first and coated with the sweet sour sauce, but the meat is still tender, juicy and is well marinated. The sauce is nice. Great dish to go with white rice.

Staffs here may not be prompt as they are very busy at times but they are nice people, and so do ask them for their recommended dishes and they are most happy to assist you with this.

Nice Cream Puffs Smile Sep 08, 2013
Categories : Japanese | Bakery

My kid childcare is celebrating National Day tomorrow and the school requested for us to buy cream puffs for the kids to eat during the celebration. Beard papa is the first to come to my mind when I want to buy cream puffs. Beard papa cream puff is huge and nice. The crust is crispy outside and soft inside. The cream filling is smooth and taste like an ice cream. Not too sweet too. Great cream puffs.

Yummy Desserts Smile Sep 08, 2013

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Desserts and Cakes

we walk around NEX and decide to settle down at Sheng Kee Dessert for some desserts..

Mango Pamelo Sago, I find this nice, the mango puree is quite thick and has lots of mango cubes and pamelo in it..

Mango Pamelo Herbal Jelly.. I never taste this but this is something that my BIL will order when he dine here..

Avocado Float, this is nice too, I am not a fan for avocado but this is nice with the vanilla ice-cream.. the taste is nice and the texture is smooth.

Carrot Cake, never try this but hubby says ok

Prawn Mango Roll, the prawn is fresh and crunchy and the mango is sweet, nice combination.

Durian Crispy Roll, I find this quite special, the durian puree wrap with Spring roll skin is great, the skin is crispy and the durian filling is sweet and fragrant. But I think best eaten when its still hot..

Shrimp Beancurd Skin, ok, normal, not oily and nice

The custard Pau here is nice and the custard is those watery type that will flow out when cut open.. I like this kind of custard pau..

The service here is great, the staffs here are friendly and nice but, I do not like the open concept dining here, a little weird to have people looking at you when you are eating and they do not have a lot of seatings here. Overall, great place for desserts. Will definitely come back for more again.

It has been a long time since I meet up with my this group of poly friends and so today we are meeting for lunch/high tea at PS café.

We ordered this PS chicken in the basket to share, we all feel that this is quite nice, thou it's deep fried but the chicken pieces are tender and well marinated.

King prawn aglio olio, quite ok with huge prawns and the pasta is quite tasty.

Miso cod, I did not try this dish but no complains from my friends and so I think should be ok.
