When one steps into Blooie's roadhouse, you will naturally feel very relaxed by the rustic laid back deco. Beside having a bar with pool table on the inside, that is also alfresco dinning facing the pond. What a perfect place for dating and gathering, right?

BBQ Beer Butt Chicken $38.80 This is one of the signature in the house, not only is the chicken well marinated with herbs and seasonings. The meat is also very juicy and tender because a can of beer is stuffed up to the chicken butt before the grilling. Thus resulting to a flavourful juicy tender whole chicken.

BBQ Chicken Wings $13.90 The chicken wings were first deep fried before coating them with BBQ sauce. Initially I was quite hesitant to taste this dish as I am not a big lover of BBQ sauce. However the bbq sauce here is not overly sweet nor have that "weird" artificial smell that a lot of places have. Thus I was rather impressed with the BBQ wings here. On top of that, there is a tinge of spiciness which really made this dish very interesting.

Something good about this place is that the renovation here is very simple yet comfortable. On top of that, they serve brunch till 12 noon during the weekdays. Good for people who wants to have brunch on weekdays and have some quiet time around town area.
I ordered a Benedict egg breakfast ($20) which was rather small in portion. The bread was slightly crispy and the spinach was sautéed lightly. However I find that the vinegar taste in the poached eggs a bit overwhelming.
I have also ordered a pot of tea. love the earl grey tea, it was just of the right temperature.
Overall, it is a good place to have brunch and do some reading during the weekdays.

Colourful sweet macarons OK Oct 30, 2013

Ever since I got to know that TWG Tea is a home grown brand that serve only premium teas, I grew fonder with this brand. As per usual the deco of the cafe always reminded you of luxury with all the bling bling and gold ornaments.

I bought 6 macarons of different flavors which included Napoleon tea and caramel, Earl Grey fortune chocolate, Bain de rose tea, macha , vanilla bourdon tea and kaya and Grand wedding tea with passion fruit. Interesting fact about TWG Tea is all the food here are infused with tea in one way or another. Personally I find the macarons here too sweet for my liking. However among the 6, I like Bain de rose the most as it has a very strong aromatic rose smell.

Recommended Dish(es):  Bain de rose macarons

Spending per head: Approximately $12(Other)

Yummilious macarons!! Smile Oct 29, 2013

One of the food that I had never touch in my whole lifetime is macarons. Reason given that I perceived it as something that is too sweet to be consumed. Thus I never understand what is the rave about it until I first try my first macaron. It was a complimentary macaron from ET Artisan Sweet.

It was my very first 2 macarons in my entire life. I had orange chocolate and yuzu. To my surprise, the macarons were not too sweet. On top of the crispy crust on the outside, the middle was a smooth tarty aromatic fillings and there was a small soft gelatin in the middle of the fillings which eluded a burst of the yuzu flavour in my mouth (I was tasting the yuzu macaron). The orange chocolate one was equally good. The fragrant of the pastry was simply delightful to my soul that made me feel happy for a very long while ( this type of feeling only happens when I eat something really good). By the way, one macaron is only $2.50 each and they have very pretty and princessy deco. I think it could be a very good to slack my day away with the sweet treats and a cup of the Gryphon tea.

Located at 313 @ Somerset, Old Malaya Cafe is rather accessible via all public transport. Once you stepped into the cafe, you will feel as if you have just been transported to some cafe in Malacca. The renovation here is rather vintage and reminded you of the old Malaysia Kampong.

We ordered salted plum drink($2), kumquat drink($2), sago gula malacca($2). Over here, there is no service charge and my overall spending is only $6.50.

The sago gula malacca was rather simple with a taste of the gula malacca and some coconut milk.

Drinks were ok and not too sweet. Both the drinks were rather sourish in taste.

Overall, it's just a place for you to sit down, rest a while before you continue the shopping. However for the price, I think it's quite worth it as it's in Orchard road that you are talking about.

Spending per head: Approximately $3
