Fried Rice

Fried Rice

Went to the Din Tai Fung at Tampines (which is pretty near my place). The queue was rather long on a weekend and had to wait for around 30mins. Order a couple of dishes, including appetisers (mixed veg palate), fried rice as well as their signature xiao long bao. I particularly liked the fried. The rice are chewy with the right amount of oil (and the grains are not cluttered together). While it does not have a lot of stuff in it, the rice itself is good (but need other dishes to complement).

Froyo Takeaway OK Aug 19, 2013
Categories : Frozen Yogurt | Juices

Am personally a huge fan of froyo (frozen yogurt) and have tried almost all different variations in Singapore so i guess it'll be interesting to see how this one fares (especially takeover)

The taste of the yogurt is ok, it's a little icy and not pre-pack properly (properly dispensed in the 'strips' that u see in the picture). This creates a lot of air gap and the space of the container is not fully utilized. The strawberry flavour is passable. Ok as dessert but definitely not one of the best i have tried.

Soya Beancurd

Soya Beancurd

Went to this stall which was supposedly quite good. I'm personally a fan of beancurd and soyabean, and this did not disappoint me. The beancurd was silky and smooth and the taste of the soyabean was appropriate. I ordered just the beancurd whereas my friend ordered the soyabeancurd with soya milk in it. I find the latter better, as the beancurd comes with sugar syrup which makes it a little to sweet.

Finally went to the all time famous Tiong Bahru bakery that's supposed to be legendary and had positive reviews from many critics. Tried the Kouign Aman (left) and Croissant Orange (right). They taste fabulous. The Kouign anan was awesome and the croissant was crispy and fluffy (buttery yet not too over). Definitely a must-try if you ever have the chance to visit. Good to go with a cup of nicely brewed coffee.

Red Velvet Cake

Red Velvet Cake

Afternoon tea at Au Chocolat. The cakes look delicious so i went in and got myself a red velvet cake (which is hugely popular these days). The cream is rich and the cake is soft and spongy. Definitely good to have on a Saturday afternoon. The place i not too full as well - a nice place to chill and have a long chat (plus coffee) with a good friend or two. However, it is a little pricey because of the location.
