Teadot OK Dec 17, 2013

We came here for desserts after our dinner at Tampines 1.

Wild Jackfruit

The price was $2.80 because apparently there was a promotion to purchase the cakes at a cheaper rate when you ordered a regular drink. I cant remember the actual pricing, but should be more or less of the same price range as other coffee places.

The cake was jackfruit cheesecake. Unique but too thick for continuing pleasure. Haha

After a few spoonful, I kinda dun really enjoyed the cake anymore. The jackfruit aroma was too overwhelming that it totally tasted like jackfruit rather than a well blended cheesecake.

So yup, once bitten twice shy. =p

Matcha Latte

A all time favourite "safe" drink.

Perfect Match

This was supposed to have a tinge of strawberry, but it tasted too much like normal milk tea. I had to "specifically" trace for it, if there was any....

Conclusion?

TeaDot is just another after-dinner hang around places. Nothing seriously wrong, and nothing impressive either.

Teppanyaki anyone? OK Dec 17, 2013
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant

Customers would sit around the teppanyaki table ( if ya dunno what I meant, just go foodcourt see lah!) wearing little orange aprons so that customers will be stain-free. Put aside how ridiculous we looked with the aprons on, isnt it thoughtful of the resturant owner? =)

Garlic Fried Rice!

Yup! I fall in love with this when I first ate it at Sakae Teppanyaki, simply delicious! I think it's nice on its own, even without any other dishes to go with. It was even true here because I couldnt finish my bowl of rice as we kinda ordered too much... so I suggest to share 1 bowl between 2 pax just to have a taste of it... ^_^

Sliced beef in teriyaki sauce

This was not too bad, but best if consumed while steaming hot.

Tiger Prawns in processing...

The completed product!

Oh, definitely my favourite! It was amazing how the chef was able to shell the prawns using his "tools", and he did that with such skills! He even pan fried the prawn heads, even though I was not too sure whether we were suppose to eat the prawn heads as well or simply an act to allow the chef to display his performance further..

Assorted Mushrooms

We sort of regretted ordering this as well, coz our teriyaki beef came with mushrooms. Wasted $$$

So next time you come here to dine, strategize your order! Dun anyhow order like me and ended up wasting food and money... Keke.. I misplaced the receipt, but I remember the bill amounted to roughly $60+. The price came with the usual free flow of green tea, towel, dessert and charges.

And do please remember to make a reservation, coz even though it is ulu, you will be surprised that take up rate is kinda high... ^_^

Cheap & good food! Smile Dec 17, 2013

I find the concept of Aston super similiar to Botak Jones. But then again, it outshines Botak Jones by targetting not just the commoners with their affordable ranges, but also catering to those who can pay more for better choices! That's explain the different namings: Astons Espress, Astons Specialities & Astons Prime, in the order of increasing price ranges.

I've visited both Astons Express and Astons Prime. The former indeed offers value-for-money while the latter offers more premium food such as Waygu beef etc. Obviously, you have to pay more for the premium food lah.

Cream of Mushroom

Crispy Fried Fish with Potato & House Salad

Prime Ribeye Steak with Mashed Potato & Fries

GST is already included in the pricing and there is not 10% service charge, so it's merely $21.90 for all these! I'm a happy gal, since I dun need to pay a lot for reasonably good food!

Notice that I mentioned "reasonably" good food. Of coz, you cant compare the quality with upscale western resturants. And you have to "tahan" eating at a non-air conditioned kopitiam. But still, I think it's better than Botak Jones and probably compared to those mid-range resturants.

I especially like their cream of mushroom, with the generous serving of mushrooms. The fried fish was crispy on the outside, and soft in the inside. I will definitely order this next time! The ribeye was passable only, as the meat was rather hard to tear apart, and eating this required a little "effort". =p

Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Sushi/Sashimi

I chanced upon Ootoya, because in comparison with the other Japanese restaurants at Orchard Central, it seemed to be more fairly priced for normal income people like me.

The food menu comes with lotza pretty photographs that you are simply spolit for choices, dunno what to choose! And ya for big eater, they also give free top-up of rice... Really cool!

Our orders:

Side dish including mushrooms, prawns and lotus root

Grilled fish

Charcoal Grilled Pork

Mulligan Smile Dec 17, 2013
Categories : Irish | Bars/Lounges | Live Sports Broadcast

The place is decorated in a country manner, with beer barrels as tables and accompanying high chairs. There is also a gigantic TV to broadcast sports like soccer, tennis etc.

And if you are thinking, how do I eat sitting on the high chairs?? Dun worry lah, there's also dining area for you to sit back and enjoy the yummy food!

Beer Battered Fish & Chips

I have eaten beer battered Fish & Chips in some places, but I think Mulligan's is the most honest one! Why? Because the batter really tasted like beer!

Most places just state it in the menu, but really taste like normal batter, which leave me wondering anything wrong with my taste bud. At least for now, I know I have perfectly fine taste bud! Hurray!! Keke

The batter was really good - crispy and nicely favoured with beer without overdoing it. Amazing part was that the fish meat remained soft inside. And the dish was completed with everyone's favourite - Fat french fries!

Sausage Platter

Pork Sausages

Both sauasages plates were quite similar, but I prefered the sausage platter coz there was more variety. Eating too much pork sausages is kinda boring. Both dishes are definitely great for sharing with friends - that was what we did!

Ribeye with mushrooms

This was a little bit on the pricy side, compared to the rest of the items. But definitely worth every cents of the price! It was agreed by all that it was really good. I ordered it to be served medium rare ( my favourite!) but there was no "bloody scene". Instead, the meat juice was well contained, which helped to preserve the sweetness of the beef. Thumbs up!

Do come here for drinks and their live band too!
