Food Hunt Madness Cry Oct 06, 2013

Ordered the pork mix toji at $10.90. It is very normal, quite a disappointment compared to most of the Japanese restaurants I've been to. However for the price it is reasonable for the quality of food. What's interesting is the ordering system is fully automated where you can select the food you want without engaging with any of the staff. This makes it efficient but lose that personal touch of service.

Ordered a blackcurrent macaroon at $2.00 each. They have 7 flavors in total. The blackcurrent macaroon is pretty normal with the usual crispy crust and soft chewy insides, bursting with rich blackcurrent flavoring. The raspberry cake cost $5.20. The cake has 3 layers - a strong sweet and sour raspberry layer, a soft cake layer, and a soft hazelnut bottom crust. The combination of the flavours compliment each other.

Ordered the roasted chicken kaki sandwich set 3 at $3.80. It was pretty disappointing as I expected the sandwich to have chucks of roasted chicken but in fact it was minced chicken mayo spread. However the taste was decent enough to pass as breakfast or tea. Iced Milo is $2.20 and quite thick and chocolatey and made fresh on the spot. The place opens from 8am onwards.

Ordered the Knoblauchwurst / Garlic Pork Sausages at $17.50. The smoked garlic pork sausage has a hint of garlic, topped with roast potatoes and sauerkraut it adds additional flavour to the sausages enhancing the overall texture. The Brezn / Typical Bavarian pretzel at $3.00 is warm, soft and a typical slightly salted pretzel. Overall the food here is great for dinner and beer.

The Har Gao ($4 for 3 pieces) is chalky and tasteless. The skin is overly thick and sticky. The Shao Mai ($3.50 for 3 pieces) is tough and chewy, very salty too. The Herbal Jelly ($2.80) is not herbal enough and not smooth at all. The only thing good about this place is that they open until 1am which is an alternative option for late night supper when nothing else is open after  a late night movie at Cineleisure.
