Amazing French Roast Chicken! Smile Oct 21, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : French | Restaurant | Desserts and Cakes | Roasted Meat

Poulet is one of the latest French casual dining in Singapore, and it has recently opened quite a few stores in Singapore. Amazing? Indeed. Well worth the price? That's something you'll have to think about.

At Poulet, you definitely have to try their chicken. (Well that's what they are known for!) The cream sauce is simply divine, and it goes really well with the roasted chicken. The restaurant at Bugis+ was extremely generous with the sauce but maybe there were so, due to a distinct lack of sides. The dish did not come with any sides such as salads or even fries, which was quite a pity as I was definitely expecting some from the price I was paying. The meal was delicious but it was not filling enough in my opinion so perhaps you'll have to order a few other items to satisfy your cravings.

PS Cafe! Smile Oct 21, 2013

PS Cafe is my favourite place to go to whenever I have gatherings with my friends. The ambience is perfect to relax in and have that little talk with one another.

Their Truffle Shoestring Fries is probably another attracting factor as well. The huge serving can probably be shared amongst 5. I love how the fries are thin, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. And it goes so well with the Parmesan cheese. Unfortunately, not all the fries have the truffle taste. Well, I know it's a big plate of fries but it's a little disappointing when some of the pieces of fries you pick up doesn't have the truffle taste.

We had a Roast Chicken Sandwich which was pretty good, chicken was tender and I like the variety of fillings in the sandwich. And we ended the meal with their popular Double Chocolate Blackout Cake. Loved this cake so much I think it's the best chocolate cake I've ever tasted! But do note that it's a huge piece that they will serve so remember to share!

Ah Loy Thai! Smile Oct 21, 2013
Categories : Thai

"Loy Thai is probably a place known to many already, and it's no wonder because their food is seriously good. A group of friends and I made our ways down one day after hearing all the raves about this place. It's a 10minute walk from Bugis mrt.

We ordered the typical Thai dishes and the ones we particularly love is the green curry and the lemon chicken. The green curry was thick and tasted like the perfect green curry (just the right tinge of sourness and spiciness).

However, while I found the food to be good, it was pretty forgettable. Still, it is a good place to go to for some tasty Thai food if you're in the vicinity.

Ikea! Furniture! Meatballs! Smile Oct 19, 2013

Categories : Western Variety | Kids-Friendly

Ikea is a place to go for affordable furniture, but when it comes to food, it makes a pretty great place to visit as well! Ikea has a restaurant at its Alexandra Outlet and offers a variety of food and drinks.

Grilled salmon! The fishy smell wasn't that strong, and the texture had a nice glaze to it. The sauce was excellent and matched the salmon nicely and the sides were a nice touch to the meal. The meatballs were awesome as usual, the taste was strong with a nice juicy feeling to it. The pasta and Bologna sauce was average and didn't raise eyebrows as much as the salmon and meatball. The chicken wings were fried to perfection - Crispy, fragrant and downright delicious.

I'm quite sad that Ikea stopped selling Daim Cakes, but the Chocolate Almond Cake more than made up for it. Rich flavours and awesome taste really made me calling out for more. A bit pricey but worth every cent I paid!

Finally a visit to Tim Ho Wan! Smile Oct 19, 2013

It was roughly 230pm and I walked by Tim Ho Wan in Plaza Singapura. Usually I avoided thinking of having a meal there due to the impossibly long queues but that afternoon it didn't look too long (after the lunch hour maybe) so I decided to queue and grab a bite there!

After about 20 minutes of queuing me and my girlfriend finally got in and this is what we got:

We didn't get much as we were still full from our lunch: Steamed Egg Cake, Baked bun with BBQ Pork and Steamed Prawn Dumpling.

The baked bun with BBQ Pork is supposedly the most popular dish at Tim Ho Wan (Each person can only order one set of 3 buns) and it did not disappoint. The exterior of the bun was crispy and crumbly and had a very nice texture, and the BBQ Pork was warm and delicious. THis is a must try indeed.

I really love steamed egg cakes, especially the smell and the one made by Tim Ho Wan had a nice fragrance to it. The cake itself was soft and fluffy, and the taste was rich. This is another of Tim Ho Wan's popular items and for good reason. The steamed prawn dumpling was average and didn't really stand out compared to the other 2 dishes we had.

If you happen to chance upon a short queue, do give it a try! Take aways are welcomed as well! But a problem is the sitting area is small, hence the insanely long queues.
