Traditional Chinese Dessert. Smile Aug 17, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Chinese Desserts | Desserts and Cakes

This shops sells a range of traditional chinese desserts like red bean with lotus seed, sesame paste, walnut paste, almond paste as well as shaved ice.

I had a bowl of Mango Pomelo Sago dessert which is a cold dessert. It has cubes of mango, pomelo and sago served with crushed ice. It was not too sweet or sour and great for a hot day.
Walnut Paste

Walnut Paste

I saw they sell walnut paste which is not so commonly sold in hawker center. I bought a bowl of walnut paste as takeaway. The walnut paste look like liquid peanut butter but was very smooth and velvety, not a hint of burnt taste. Sweetness level was just right. It only cost $3 a bowl. Definitely going back for this Walnut Paste which is good for the brain.

Korean Meals OK Aug 17, 2012

Categories : Korean

We decided to try this Korean Restaurant at Jcube when we were checking out this new mall. We ordered a bowl Ginseng Chicken Soup and BBQ Pork. It cames with 12 free refillable sides dishes.
12 Free Sides Dishes

12 Free Sides Dishes

The 12 sides dishes are served in small saucer on a tray. It has different types of Kimchi, beansprouts, Potato Stew, pan-fried luncheon meat etc. There is a side tables where you help yourself to any of the sides dishes which you like to refilled. I like the Potato Stew which was cooked just right, neither hard or soft with a non spicy gravy. The other side dish that I like is the pieces of luncheon meat coated with egg and pan fried.

The Ginseng Chicken Soup is served in a Korean Style Claypot and comes with a small saucer of salt for you to add into the soup. The soup was bland before you add the required amount of salt. The Chicken was stuffed with rice and Ginseng. I found the soup not that great and to me was not tasty enough. The portion was too big for 1 person and it is better to be shared between 2 -4 persons.

The BBQ Pork was served sizzling hot and I like that the pork are well marinated with the Korean Bean Paste Sauce and meat was tender. It also comes with a bowl of rice which you can eat with the tasty pork slice. The portion was also very generous which is too much for a small eater.

We also ordered the Iced Citron Tea which was very nice on a hot day.

Generally the prices is reasonable as you get a big portion and free sides dishes.

Categories : Australian / New Zealand | Juices

I was checking out Singapore new mall Jcube, and chance appoint this Juice bar from Australia.
Each day of the week, they have 1 type of Juice of the day at a special price of $3.50 for a small cup. Today being Friday, the juice of the day is Immunity Juice.
Immunity Juice

Immunity Juice

Immunity Juice is a combinations of freshly juiced watermelon, orange and strawberry; with the addition of Immunity Booster. Immunity Booster is echinaces, vitamin C & A, zince and green tea. This combination can prevent flu. This pink juice cocktail was not sweet as no sugar was added but has a bit of tangy taste. It is refreshing for such a hot day.

Famous Bak Kut Teh Smile Jul 27, 2012

Bak Kut Teh

Bak Kut Teh

After hearing so much of this stall, I found they open a branch in Marina Bay Sand food court. So I decided to takeaway for dinner.I ordered a bowl of Prime Ribs version and another bowl of liver. The normal pork ribs cost $5.50 while prime ribs cost $7, liver cost $5.50. For takeaway you have to pay extra 30 cents for each takeaway container. The price was considered reasonable since it was located at MBS, and not more than other air con food court.

The container was the paper version which is not reusable which I find it not enviromental friendly.

I liike the peppery soup broth which has a light brown colour unlike other Teochew clear broth version. Pork ribs was tender and soup has light herb taste.

The liver version has many thin slice liver was cooked just right which was neither over cooked or semi raw. They used good quality dark sauce.

Salted Caramel Ice Cream Cry Jul 27, 2012

Salted Caramel Ice Cream

Salted Caramel Ice Cream

I had visitor from out of town who wanted to try Cold Stone ice cream. So we all troop down to Orchard Central after shopping. It was shiok to cool down with some icy cold dessert. Among the many choices available, I decided on Salted Caramel with mix in Pecan & Locker Waffles. A Single scoop of ice cream with 2 mix in cost $5.90. Unfortunate for me it was a wrong choice as I find the ice cream way too sweet for me. Another thing is that I find the ice cream melt too fast, as it was starting to melt even before I start to eat. No plain water was available, so we ended buying small bottles of Evian Water.
