free flow egg and marinated bean sprouts

free flow egg and marinated bean sprouts

Saw it open the door for business while I have yet to try, slowly queue was forming up every time I passed by in the evening. It really raised my curiosity about this little ramen shop. I didn’t try it when it first started business because I have a very good ramen at The Central few months back. We reached there early 6pm, it has few people in front of us already. In front of us was a Japanese, he waited patiently with working on his mobile phone. Frankly the wait wasn’t short, we waited about 20~30mins then. There was a lady dashed into the shop and requested for takeaway, obviously she was rejected as the chef said ramen should be eaten once it was cooked. She was disappointed and left.

While we were waiting, they would distribute the order form, menu was simple,
1.Soup base : original, spicy and peppery
2.Taste of the soup : light, normal and strong
3.Chicken oil : less, normal and more
4.Noodle texture : soft, normal and hard
5.Prices : $10.80 to 15.80 depends on ingredients
6.Diner can opt out some ingredients like spring onion, black fungus and char siew
7.Soup and noodle can be refilled with $2 each
8.Marinated bean sprouts and boiled egg are free flow.

I have ordered an original ramen and chose authentic Japanese taste, whereas my friend has peppery ramen and a bottle of Sapporo. According to him, pepper was overwhelmed the overall taste. I like the original pork bone soup so much, it was milky smooth, very rich in taste, most importantly it wasn’t too salty, I have no msg aftertaste. Ramen cooked to the right texture to my liking - springy.

Once we be seated, they would give us each sesame grinder, we got to do it ourselves, grind it to release the full sesame fragrance. This is the only extra ingredient I added into my bowl of ramen, I didn’t add the Japanese chilli or mayo as the soup based was so good on its own. We specially like the marinated bean sprouts, we kept eating it and requested for refill. Eggs were boiled to the right consistency, yoke wasn’t overcooked, it was still soft inside.

Though the waiting at the onset was long, we both agreed it was worth the waiting. We did return for second and my friend return for so many times already……

Traditional baked mooncake is my beloved festival food, among all festivals food, I love mooncake the most, second position will be May dumpling. It is always an indulgence for me to have a whole piece of mooncake with double yoke. Forget about the calories, fat, sugar…..etc in the meantime.

This is my second year to receive Goodwood Park hotel’s baked mooncake. A friend of mine specially bought for me as she knew I loved it. I was overjoyed when she handed this box to me yesterday, it was really touching and thankful for her kindness.

I couldn’t wait longer to have a taste of it. A taste!?! I ate it for my dinner last night, yes, one whole piece, it should be a BIG taste to be frank! Creamy smooth lotus seed paste filling, not so sweet or oily, both yokes have the right amount of oil in the centre, the baked skin has a caramel flavour. It does an indulgence for once a year.

Delegate Dinner Smile Jun 29, 2011

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Restaurant | Dim Sum | Seafood

This dinner was organised by our head office in UK, they didn’t inform us beforehand of the venue. Probably they got the information about this restaurant over the web. Anyway, we have a high expectation before we have the meal, as we have been this restaurant for a few occasions.

We greeted when we stepped in along the entrance, it gave you the grand welcome feel. We occupied 3 tables in a roll, very spacious seating. Serving crews were polite and well trained, they could communicate in English, they could tell us of what we were eating. Change individual serving plate as soon as we finished our food. I would say their services was fantastic, nothing to complain.

Food wise, as it was ordered by our UK colleagues, we guess they have booked the set menu. Our co-colleague comprised Australian, British, Indian, Korean, Chinese and Singaporean. Few of our Indian colleagues were vegetarian, vegetarian dishes have ordered for them but it seemed they didn’t get used to Chinese vegetarian food, they didn’t eat much though. As for us, we liked the Peking duck so much, this was the dish of the day, sadly they didn’t serve with leek, instead they served cucumber and sweet sauce only. The second dish was their daily boiled soup, it was Cantonese style with long hours and slow boiled, it was milky rich in flavour, really good if you liked this type of soup. At first glance of the prawn dish, we thought the usual cereal prawn but cereal shouldn’t be so big pieces, they used crumble soya bean skin, in terms of taste, it was lighten than cereal, texture wise, I would prefer cereal. The rest of the dishes were OK.

If you would like to have a grand place with fantastic services in a Chinese meal, this is the place. I would prefer order al a carte than set menu.

Good Western dinner Smile May 26, 2011

We have been this restaurant few times. There weren't a lot of dinners whenver we were there. Having said that dinning at a prestige and full of history hotel's cafe. We would have peace in mind that they would serve quality food. Prices were in line with the food quality, we expected. Service was fine too.

We ordered pork ribs and beef sandwiches. Ribs were tender, one's could taste it has cooked for long hours then could reach such texture and yet it wasn't separate from bone. The sauce was rich and yet it was light to taste, side dish of mushroom and veggie were fine.

The real surprise for that dinner was beef sandwishes!!! Layers of beef slices generously served, fresh slices of tomato and lettuce in between, not to forget the lightly toasted bread. One mouthful, you would know what is called quality sandwich! Trust me, you will not regret to have it. A big plus was the potato salad at the side. They selected the creamy type of potato and boiled to the right texture, covered with creamy salad sauce, we couldn't stop eating it. The portion for both dishes were generous, if not, we would have the potato salad for extra.

Definitely we would return when we were longing for quality western casual food.

I was really impressed by their crispiness on my first visit, no trace of oil on the plate at all and meat is still moist inside. Most importantly you won’t taste any trace of frozen meat or million-year’s oil.

I chose sirloin this time, it is such a big portion, it could fill me up for 2 meals as I didn’t want to leave any food behind, I finished off the whole set.

During Takashimaya revamp their basement, I was worried this store would disappear, lucky me they still exist.
