XLB for lunch!  Smile Dec 11, 2012

Lunch at Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao!
We went there for the obvious reason - XIAO LONG BAO But besides XLB we needed some other dishes which are Zha Jiang Mian, har gao and scallion pancake.

XLB ($4.80) : Well, flavorsome broth, tender and moist meat. They were yummy, though I hoped that the skin should be thinner.

Zha Jiang Mian($11.50): The noodles were springy and the sauces and the meat was full of flavor, a bit salty though. But overall is a bowl of zha jiang mian, I couldn't expect it to be bland and tasteless. Another point was that the serving was quite huge, even though my friend and I were sharing 1 bowl we couldn't finish it. Value for money I say, without the other side dishes.

Har gor($4.50): My friend made a statement "all har gao are yummy" YES. I totally agree with her, I love the idea of fresh prawn wrapped inside a skin. When I bit into it, all I could taste was the succulent and springy prawn, freshness of the prawn. DELICIOUS

Scallion pancake($3.50): I have no idea why we would order this I guess we were too hungry and can't wait to eat. The scallion pancake tasted like roti prata but of course we smell of scallions. It was average. No raves about it.

Brunch @ Coffee Bean  Smile Dec 10, 2012

Categories : American

I absolutely adore the all-day-breakfast menu at coffee bean for I can get delicious and filling food at a reasonable price.
This time round they introduced a new food item on their all-day-breakfast menu, Croque Madame.

Croque Madame is actually bread with cheese melted on it and sandwiched with ham before serving with an egg. The egg may be poached or fried.
This was my first try of croque madame($11.90 with coffee/tea) and I'm pleased with it. The lightly toasted bread was soft and fluffy and the cheese was mellow and rich. The ham wasn't too salty and the egg was cooked perfectly. Combing all the elements on the plate and putting it in my mouth was just lip-smacking! YUMMY smile

I order the fruit cake($4.20) since it was a Christmas season cake and I'm disappointed with it. It was dry and I felt some flavours were missing in the fruit cake.

I reckoned that the all-day-breakfast menu was yummy but I wouldn't say about the cakes and coffee for they had disappointed me time and again.

Fishes for lunch.  Smile Dec 07, 2012

Manhattan fish market as the name suggest is famed for their fishes. But I highly recommend the spaghetti and side dishes such as fried mushroom as they were really deli. My first visit to Manhanttan gave me a deep impression and I'm here second time.
But this time round I gave the main courses a miss and focused on their desserts instead.
I ordered the Manhattan Mud Pie for a price of $4.90. For the price, it is considered very reasonable.
When the plate arrived, I could think was that they shouldn't use a big plate because it makes the cake smaller than it seems. The top layer was rich chocolate cakes while the bottom layer was chocolate ice-cream.

At first bite, the sweetness and taste of chocolate was so strong and thick. Mmm... Definitely for people with a sweet tooth and a passion for chocolatey chocolates.
Although I'm a sweet tooth person, I couldn't finish it because it was way too sweet for me. No wonder the portion was small, because it can really make one sick and tried of it.
But do give it a try and share it with friends. It will make your meal feel more complete smile

Thai food for dinner  OK Dec 05, 2012
Categories : Thai

I have never been to ThaiExpress and I thought I should try the Thai food there because it is one of the common Thai restaurants in Singapore.

Once I got in, I flipped to the noodles section of the menu. My eyes were searching for the word "Pad Thai" There were a few different type of Pad Thai such as Beef Pad Thai and Seafood Pad Thai.
I chose seafood pad thai which cost $10.90. We ordered a side dish - Soft shell crab which cost $8.90.

The soft shell crab was delicious, the meat was soft and juicy and it wasn't greasy. A sweet and sour sauce came with it too, when eaten with it, it tasted even better. Sweet, sour and crunchy smile

Seafood Pad Thai was a disappointment, it was quite bland and my friend had the same sentiment. It didn't have enough flavours and the chili flakes didn't bring in the kick of spiciness. Although the portion was feeling but I have eaten better pad thai at a cheaper price with the same portion. sad

Given that it was my first time at ThaiExpress and the pad thai was disappointing, I may consider this my last time dining at ThaiExpress again.

Dinner @ tcc  OK Dec 03, 2012
Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Restaurant

Ended our Friday with a meal at tcc. We decided to have some snacks instead of ordering main course because we didn't have the feel to have the main course.
We ordered the deluxe platter which cost 16.90 bucks which consist of mozzarella cheese sticks, calamari rings and onion rings and mentaiko shrimp martini which cost 11.90 bucks.

The deluxe platter came with 2 dipping sauces one was a little sourish and I guessed it was citrus and the other tasted somewhat like BBQ sauce. Personally, I prefer the citrus sauce.
The mozzarella cheese sticks and calamari rings were delicious, they weren't too greasy and the calamari rings weren't too tough. The onion rings were a disappointment. They were onion rings I can get from Burger King, they were not even real onions at all. sad
The mentaiko shrimp martini was a disappointment too. They were crunchy but the batter was a bit too thick and covered the juiciness of the prawns. I have never eaten mentaiko and up till now I have no idea what was mentaiko supposed to taste like because the prawns didn't carry the flavour it at all. Nice presentation, but not really enjoyable.
