Multi sensory experience Smile Jul 26, 2012

Coming to Paradise dynasty is indeed a mult-sensory experience. Great food and pretty delicate.
The multi sensory experience starts off with the beautiful and colourful Xiao Long Bao. Not all of them are equally good but well, tasting the unqiue flavours such as cheese xiao long bao and foie gras xiao long bao is an unique experience in itself.

The next dish of scramble egg white with egg yolk was also a pretty dish pretty to look at, pretty pleasing to the taste buds.

Chicken feet with seafood. The chicken feet was good and QQ! just the way i like it.

The very tasty la mian soup, concocted from the signature pork bone soup broth. The soup is dense due to the high content of protein and collagen. I feel younger just eating it! Apparently the soup has been simmered for in slow fire for 12 hours. Slow boiling it reduced the initial soup content from 30kg to 8 kg to bring out the essence of the soup! How can you not say this is DElicious!

Delicious Italian food in a nice and peace residential area. I would never have known such a place existed if not for my friend brining me here! It is pretty 'ulu' and that surely contributed to the x factor of this place. Anyhow, this is apparently quite a well know italian restaurants amongst foodie.

We ordered the appetizer platter to share, lots of variety and all of them very good. Rock melon with parma ham, perfection combination, calamari, huge and tasty, check out the thick slab of cheese between the tomatoes. All very good.

I had the seafood curry flavoured linguine very unique and interesting - creamy, a hint of sweetness and generous portion of seafood. It was really delicious.

This was my friend's pasta, also excellent. Oops but i cant remember the name.

My Sashimi Fix Smile Jul 21, 2012

Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Sushi/Sashimi

This is where i go for my chirashi fix. Anyone who remembers the grouchy uncle who mends the fort at Wasabi Tei - Far East Square would know this place. The very grumpy uncle has decided a few years back to sell his business at Far East and open one here at Mohd Sultan.
He certainly less grouchy now that he has a much large place, less crowd and more helpers. Actually with the dwindling diners, I sure hope the restaurant will survive for a long long time.

I love this place because they are generous.

Generous with their sashimi portion. Thick salmon sashimi slices greet you instead of tiny miserable ones at other places.

This is my all time favourite. The chirashi set. You dont get the same ingredients everytime, depends on the season and what the chef gets hold of.

This is my friend's set. Cant remember what she had

Comforting Smile Jul 16, 2012

Categories : Teochew | Seafood | Kids-Friendly

These are some selections of my photos from Chui Huay Lim Teo Chew Cuisine. Two weeks ago was my fourth visit to Chui Huay Lim. This is currently my favourite place for a Teochew fix. Being a Teo Chew, these dishes are all so familiar. Simple yet almost perfect.
One of my favourite dishes from this restaurant is the steam promfret which is not show here, but of course it is not cheap. Mum and I shared a fish which cost about $70. The other favourites are the chai po kway teow, cold crab, fish maw soup, pu ning chicken and ngoh hiang har zou.

Mum had i wanted goose but they ran out of goose by 130pm so we had to settle for duck

This is the fish maw soup. Full of thick pieces of fish maw.

Although not a teo chew dish, but many tables had a plate of chili crab, so we decided to order it too plus this is actually managed by Jumbo group, so the chili crab should be good. And true enough, it was lovely. Just the right spice and sweetness level.

We had the hashima orh nee. Wonderful, its been a long time since i last had this.

Although abit dry, not as smooth as the cantonese steam chicken, but nevertheless it is tastefully done as the bean sauce (tau chio) is a perfect compliment to the chicken. Actually it reminds me of my grandma's chicken dish.

Roast suckling pig which you need to order in advance. I am not a fan of it, so well .. no comments.

Yup this is one of my favourite dishes. Chai po Kway teow

Craving for Thai food, it was either First Thai or Yhingthai along Purvis St, consulted blogs n reviews, and the vote was cast, we decided to opt for Yhingthai as it has higher rating. Actually we ate this a long long time ago, but i was too lazy to blog hence it is only after 3 months that this is here! So anyhow, i kinda have forgotten how the dishes taste. All i can conclude is that this outlet has got to be one of the best Thai restaurants I have been in Singapore!

This is a strange but lovely dish recommended by the waitress. Erm strange weird name too. This dish is called Condiments. It is some ikan bilis, small shrimps, mango, chili padi and onion on top of a leaf. U roll the leaf up together with the condiments and dip it into the bowl of chili. Unique and refreshing taste.

Mango salad. Quite a unique dish.

Fish maw soup ($8), another recommended dish, but as i am not a fan of fish maw, so this soup is kind of forgettable. Okay but i am sure my mama would love it too.

Tom Yum Soup with coconut and Clear Tom Yum Soup ($6 per bowl). I very much preferred the clear tom yum soup. Hot and Fiery, wonderful taste of lemongrass. I think i could just go there especially for the clear tom yum soup. Mama would truly love this.

The stuffed chicken wing was really good, filled with lots of stuffing like mushrooms and asparagus. Served really hot. But of course this doesnt come cheap at $3 per piece.

The Olive Rice was very very good, very fragrant, not too salty, one of the best I have eaten. ($20 for medium)

Green Curry Chicken, never liked green curry cos of the heavy coconut taste. And the pieces of chicken in the curry is kinda pathetic. Still prefer the indian version of curry chicken where you get solid parts of the chicken and not small pathetic pieces. ($15 for small)
