Visited Plaza Brasserie at Park Royal for their buffet dinner for the first time with my boyfriend. We were quite pleasantly greeted with warm and friendly service when we arrived at the restaurant. We were seated down at a quiet corner before we proceeded to view the buffet spread. They had cold seafood (oyster, clams, mussels, shrimp), chilli crab, chicken rice, steamed chicken, sea cucumber, deep fried soft shell crab, durian prata, cheese prata, chocolate prata, egg prata, prata kosong, tempura, deep fried fish skin, baked salmon, kebabs, etc. I must say that this is considered one of the better buffets I've been to. I love the variety and the quality and taste of the food is pretty good. My favourite of the night has got to be the soft shell crab. The prata tasted good but I figured it was the aircon that cooled it down too fast, making it rather tough. The local dishes such as the steamed chicken, chili crab, sea cucumber were good too. I loved the desserts as well. Wide variety and very yummy!

My family visited the Jai Thai restaurant at Bishan, as suggested by my parents. Apparently, they enjoyed the food at their East Coast outlet so much that they decided to return for more. Since we were around the area, we stopped by the branch at Clover Way for dinner. The restaurant on its own was quite hidden, especially so at night. But surprisingly, the place was packed with people. We managed to get a table quite instantly. After much deliberation, we finally narrowed down our options to six dishes. We ordered a small portion each of Pineapple Fried Rice, Olive Fried Rice, Squid with Black Pepper Sauce, Stir-Fried Bean Sprouts with Salted Fish, Seafood Tom Yam, Deep Fried Chicken and Spicy Black Pepper Beef. Being run by a group of people from Thailand (evident in the layout and decor of the restaurant as well), the food was definitely authentic. I particularly loved the squid and beef, which were very well prepared. I thought they could be a little more generous with the Tom Yam and the chicken would have been better if it were slightly more tender. The service was much to be desired. Then again, it could be due to how busy they were. They got our orders wrong, then they came to tell us they ran out of white rice, and they kept ignoring us when we called for their attention.

Feast@East at Grand Mecure Roxy is a favourite high-tea destination of mine. At only $25 (inclusive of taxes), I think it makes for a very affordable buffet, plus one that is worth the price paid. They are known for their laksa, which i have to admit, is really good. They also have good durian cake at the dessert section. I must add though, the consistency of the cake varies on different dining occasions. There are times where it's too soft, and there are times where it's as though it's freshly taken out of the freezer and is far too cold and icy to eat. Apart from the laksa and the durian cake, the spread does change every week. But even then, the food here is considered very good for a tea-time spread.

My entire family visited Peach Garden to celebrate my auntie's 80th birthday. We were greeted with friendly service staff and a very grand looking restaurant. The scenic view from the 33rd floor, where the restaurant is situated at, definitely started the dinner well. It was a breathtaking panoramic view of the skyline. The dishes we ordered were the Sauteed Stuffed Scallops with Salted Yolk, Double-boiled Fish Maw in Chicken Essence Soup, Roasted Crispy Duck, Deep-fried Prawns in Wasabi Sauce, Steamed Soon Hock Fish in Soy Sauce, Braised Handmade Beancurd in Crabmeat Sauce and Fried Seafood Noodles in X.O Sauce. I found every dish to be very tasty. The scallops, duck and deep-fried prawns were my favourites for the night. Felt that the Fish Maw Soup wasn't tasty enough, the fish could have been more tender, beancurd tasted too common to me and I couldn't taste much of the X.O flavor in the seafood noodles.

My boyfriend surprised me with dinner to celebrate our third year anniversary. Made me so excited not only because it's at Raffles Hotel, but also because I've heard so much about the Bar & Billiard Room from my mum. Apparently, she used to dine there all the time with her colleagues. But that's another story. Anyway, I must first emphasize how good the service is here. It's the kind of service standard you will never find at just about any place in Singapore. They were warm, welcoming, friendly and always on the tip of their toes to serve you. But then again, I did feel a little uncomfortable because it felt as though their eyes were on me at every second of my dinner there. The food there was just as splendid. Quality is the word to describe it. Fresh and well-prepared! Some must-try's are the pasta, steak, squid and desserts (especially the tiramisu)! I wouldn't say the spread was extensive. In fact, the salads and starters already took up half the variety of food. So I guess if you're going there, don't expect quantity.
