Shiok and Cheap Smile Aug 07, 2013

When I'm at an area like Marina Bay Sands, my dining choices are reduced to either as cheap as possible or go big and expensive. I opted to have a cheap lunch at Toast Box and ordered their Kaya Toast set. Usually I will order the thick toast when I eat here but this time I decided to try a different item. I really like this even compared with Ya Kun's kaya toast. Very buttery and crunchy plus the kaya was delightful although a tad sweet (Ya Kun's kaya is also very sweet). Eggs are not as big Ya Kun but they made it up with a very shiok drink called the Gula Melaka Ice Coffee. smile

Poorly Recommended place Cry Aug 07, 2013

I do not like the food here. It was a poor recommendation to come to this place for lunch. The place was old and service wasn't fantastic (not rude but not very welcoming either) but it was the food that was a let down.

The only thing I think I enjoy was the baked Alaska which is this cake drizzled with alcohol (they flame it) and has ice cream inside. Sweet and you can taste the hint of the alcohol.

The beef skewered and roasted. Very tasteless and quite tough. If you serve a meat like this with no sauce, it had better be a premium grade meat but this was not the case. Once again, not a good recommendation to come here unless you are really curious to try Russian food. Plus it's not cheap either!

Chocolate CAKE Love Smile Aug 07, 2013
Categories : Desserts and Cakes

I'm a sucker for molten chocolate cake and Max Brennar's version is one of the nicer looking plating I've seen. There is even a shaker (not sure what's the name of the thing the bartender use to mix drinks) with extra molten chocolate to drizzle over! What a treat! The cake is lovely and rich and the ice cream a wonderful contrast to the rich chocolate flavour. Try this for a safe dessert choice. smile

Salted Egg Pork GOODNESS Smile Jul 22, 2013

I love the salted egg pork at Susan Chan! Their sauce is simply heavenly! Perfectly cooked tender slices of pork, drenched in salted egg gravy. Even the cabbage leaves that get soak in this sauce tastes awesome. This dish doesn't come with the egg, I asked to add it which totals up to $6.50. Not the cheapest but very good standard. And they're not stingy on the sauce either! Most recommended if you don't mind a sinful lunch. smile

Not that great Ramen OK Jul 22, 2013

If you like your ramen salty, this is the place for you. They provide garlic for you to crush to mix into your soup (love this) but really, not much extra seasoning is required. The broth, at first, tasted very good. But as you drink more of it, the saltiness (Msg perhaps?) starts to hit home and I'm left asking for loads of water to wash away the parched feeling. Pork is okay, nothing extraordinary. The decor of the place is nice, but otherwise, I think it's average.
