The Green Goddess

The Green Goddess

I couldn't resist my curiosity to find out what "The Green Goddess" pesto pasta ($26) would look like and so I decided to order it for lunch! As its name implies, it is truly the goddess of pesto pastas. Chock full of greens including broccoli, long beans and peas all tossed up in a bright green basil pesto sauce. Mmmm mmmm.. add on some slices of cheddar cheese and a generous serving of pine nuts, this pasta truly becomes a "goddess" for all vegetarians!

My only gripe would be the amount of olive oil they use for the sauce - especially when I reached the base of my plate, the pasta was literally soaking in a pool of olive oil. Sure, they say olive oil is good for you but even too much of a good thing ain't gonna cut it. Overall, this dish is perfect for vegetarians and I wouldn't have it be called by any other name - All hail "The Green Goddess"! lol

Tiramisu For Tea Smile Jun 14, 2013

Tiramisu

Tiramisu

My all-time FAVOURITE dessert - Tiramisu! A simply divine combination of good coffee, mascarpone cheese, chocolate powder and kahlua. Here at Benjamin Browns, they create a rather unique Tiramisu which comes as 2 ice-cream scoops.

When they initially served it to me, I took a double take and was thinking to myself "oh no, did the menu say it was Tiramisu Ice-Cream and not the classic Tiramisu cake". But to my relief, it IS a classic Tiramisu cake! Presented in the form of 2 ice-cream scoops. You can't quite see the Savoiardi biscuits (ladyfingers) that are hidden within the scoops of mascarpone cheese. The espresso coffee they make here is splendid and the same goes for the coffee they use in their Tiramisu.

They have an open-concept kitchen too, so you can actually watch the chef while they work on making the food for you. Not only is the presentation of their desserts splendid, the quality is great too. Plus, it's located at a really cozy and quiet corner of Forum Shopping Mall where you can lay back, relax and take a break.

Heaven in a Cup! Smile Apr 22, 2013

Chocolate Lava Cake

Chocolate Lava Cake

If you're a big chocolate fan like me, you'll LOVE this Chocolate Lava Cake. The top half consists of a warm sponge cake with oozy liquid chocolate inside. Personally, I would prefer the chocolate to be thicker, richer and darker. But this cup of chocolate is not bad at all! The bottom half is made up of a scoop of vanilla ice cream. For $5 this convenient dessert is simply heavenly!

San Lou Hor Fun! Smile Mar 24, 2013

San Lou Hor Fun

San Lou Hor Fun

One of my favourite dishes from this well-known zi-char stall is their San Lou Hor Fun! But the standard varies depending on the time you eat here. When the place is over-crowded and busy, the hor fun doesn't come out that nice. Sometimes too salty or too tasteless. What I really like about san lou hor fun is the heap of beansprouts on top! The hor fun they have here is also really smooth, though they can be a bit stingy with the fish slices. Overall, it's a simple dish that is great to have on a weekday night.

Awesome Japanese Lunch Smile Feb 27, 2013

Ramen Set

Ramen Set

I can never get enough of Japanese food! We ordered their lunch set promotion which comes with a choice of Ramen + Side Dish + Fried Dish. I had myself a Tonkotsu Ramen (pork) + Agedashi Tofu + Rosu (fried pork cutlet). For $26.90, it was a lot of food and probably enough for 2 persons to share.
Agedashi Tofu

Agedashi Tofu

The thing I like about Agedashi Tofu is that it's simple, light and clears your palate for the feast ahead. They served it with some red radish thingie that had a bit of kick to it.

Tonkotsu Ramen

The ramen came in a huge bowl and also had an onsen egg in it. The soup was very tasty and they also included a generous amount of vegetables in it. The Rosu I had was also rather awesome. Extremely crispy on the outside and the meat was tender inside, with a heap of cabbage on the side. It's my second visit here already but I definitely look forward to coming back here again soon!
