Steamed tofu Cry Jul 29, 2013
Categories : Food Court

As the name suggest, Steamed Gourmet is a place for healthy foodies, serving mostly food that are steamed. This stall is found in many foodcourts in other malls, and i thought i should give it a try. I had the steamed tofu, and it was quite bad. It is a pretty simple dish, but the seasoning was not enough to soak into the tofu, resulting in a very bland dish. Perhaps it is really meant to be healthy, as little additives as possible, but the taste was compromised.

Disappointing dimsum :( Cry Jul 19, 2013
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Coffeeshop | Dim Sum | Kids-Friendly

I was around this area for supper and my friend was craving dim sum, so we decided to give this stall a try when we walked by. This place is pretty much self serviced, and have to go straight to the dim sum place to order.

Char Siew Pastry: This was one dish that I thought could not go wrong. But I was wrong about that. The pastry and filling are both extremely dry, and it is served cold! It was so dry that my friend and I shared half of it and threw away the rest.

Water chestnut cake: It was average, with just the right sweetness, but does not have the refreshing aftertaste that I was expecting of this dessert dish.

Chicken feet: My favorite dim sum, but just not at this stall... It was not cooked long enough, and thus, the favor didn't penetrate into the meat. The chicken feet was also not as soft as expected.

In general, I think the dim sum here is below average.

$4 Fish and chips Cry Jul 04, 2013

$3.99 Fish and Chips. This is not the first year that Manhattan Fish Market has come up with this marketing strategy, but it seemed to be losing its effectiveness. I went at lunch hour, expecting a long queue but found none, and it is little wonder why when I saw my order. Even for the dining in, the fish and chips is served in those fast food paper plate. Our fork and knife arrive much later than our mains. And the chips is totally not worth the calories! It is cold and soggy when served. sad I was so glad when the fish still taste fresh and crispy. Overall, I would much rather pay the full price and get the norm service and food quality.

Small Cramp place!  Cry Jul 04, 2013
Categories : Japanese | Ramen

Firstly, i couldn't emphasis how small the shop is! They could not accommodate large group of people, so do not go there on a gathering. I had to split table with my friends, but it is alright, cause the place is so small that we are still pretty close to each other.

I had the Black Cha Shu ramen, which is highly recommended by my friend who had tried the same shop in another location. It was disappointing. The soup was bland, and yet so oily. sad The cha shu is thick, but more than half is made of fats! And i think the noodle is pretty soggy, not to my liking. Perhaps its time to give its other branches a try.

I tried their Cross Bridge Vermicelli, which for $8.50 entitles 15 different saucers of ingredients together with a bowl of vermicelli. The waitress will offer to add everything in before serving to the table, which i had to agree due to the lack of space on the table, but lost the novelty of having so many small dishes placed out in front of me. And the end result? I cant even see the 15 ingredients, cause they are present in such small amount. I dont even know what am i putting into my mouth! sad
