Thai food  Smile Jul 29, 2013

Even though they close only at 10pm, people starts to vacant the place at 9pm, and the staff will ask for last order and close the counter around 9.30pm, making it a very stressful dinner for people like me who enter the place late.

I had the chicken green curry ($12.90), and a serving of rice that was to be counted separately. The curry was thick and ideally to be shared, because the portion is quite big to finish alone. Even the serving of the rice is huge, but goes great with the curry. Good thing would be that the curry is not spicy, unless one eats the chili within the curry by mistake (the chili was bitter and spicy sad )

50% off dessert Smile Jul 29, 2013

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Chinese Desserts | Desserts and Cakes

For the month of July, they have 50% off selected mango dessert items. I had the Mango Lychee Jelly with longan (up $5.90)

They still give a large amount of mango base that fills right up to the rim of the bowl even for the promotional items, but the ingredients seems to be much lesser than seen from the menu picture. The lychee jelly was not flavorful enough, but still is smooth. As for the mango base, it can rarely go wrong. It is very sweet and rich in terms of the taste of the fruit

The only downside here is the group of fruit flies that was all over the wall on the side which made me feel very uncomfortable.

Steamed tofu Cry Jul 29, 2013

As the name suggest, Steamed Gourmet is a place for healthy foodies, serving mostly food that are steamed. This stall is found in many foodcourts in other malls, and i thought i should give it a try. I had the steamed tofu, and it was quite bad. It is a pretty simple dish, but the seasoning was not enough to soak into the tofu, resulting in a very bland dish. Perhaps it is really meant to be healthy, as little additives as possible, but the taste was compromised.

I had one of their combo set for sharing with my sister, thus, we order the set with 2 different carbohydrate, soba and the okawa with scallop set, that comes with fried chicken as well.

The soba was so different from what i was expecting! It is served hot, with light soya based soup. Not to my liking as i prefer slightly chewy noodles. For a hot soup dish, the soup was lacking in proper favor.

The highlight is of course, the rice. It has a very chewy texture, like glutinous rice, and is properly flavored. There is no need for any other side dishes to goes with it.

The only bad point about this shop is that the space is very limited. Finding a seat after ordering might be a problem.

Ice cream for supper Smile Jul 24, 2013

Durian ice cream for fans of this fruit! Not many people know of this i supposed, which is why they are giving out small sample of the ice cream when i walked by the stall the other day. I tried and ended up buying a whole cup to myself ($3)!

They are generous with their servings, but don't be too happy early cause one thing about soft serve is that, they melt real fast! The durian taste of the ice cream is strong, and tasted real. It is sweet, but reasonable by the ice cream standard. A tad pricey but for the size they served, i think it is very worth a try!
