yam bread OK Apr 27, 2013
Categories : Bakery

It was after 7pm when I reached the mrt station. This is when usually Cake History runs a promotion of having their breads at $1 per bun. There are still quite a wide range of different buns left, but this bun caught my eye as it was a yam filling bun. I havent really seen yam breads around much, hence I got this. The bread is sweet tasting and the yam filling inside is very fragrant and quite smooth. However, I felt that the filling is rather little. It would be better if the yam filling is more so that I can enjoy more of the yam.

takeaway dinner OK Apr 23, 2013

Categories : Food Court

I ordered a packet of mixed vegetable rice for takeaway back to office for work. I ordered the sliced gourd, egg tofu as well as braised chicken. The sliced gourd is rather soft, I would prefer it to be harder so that there is more bite to them. That said, fortunately it is not soft until it is mashy.

The egg tofu is quite normal and similar to what I have tasted at other stalls. The braised chicken is tasty with the tenderness of the chicken meat and more importantly, it is well seasoned. I paid $3 for this meal in total.

Spending per head: Approximately $3

economic rice OK Apr 23, 2013

I wanted something filling for lunch, hence I decided to order from the mixed vegetables rice stall. Even though it was still early at 12pm, the dishes available are quite limited and few are to my liking. I choose the brinjals and mushrooms and not knowing what else to order for my last dish, I ended up ordering beansprouts. First thing I notice is that the portion is quite little, especially for the items which are more expensive, that is the mushrooms. The brinjals are far too greasy for my liking, and I had difficulty finishing them. Beansprouts are quite normal tasting and similar everywhere. The thing I enjoyed about the meal is that the mushrooms are tasty and well flavoured. This meal costs me $2.90 if I am not wrong because of the mushrooms.

sausage croissant OK Apr 21, 2013

I have not patronised Delifrance for quite some time, hence I was surprised at the new product offerings that they have. I was quite spoilt for choice, but in the end, I just went for the sausage croissant. The sausage used for the sausage croissant is really good - it is of the better grade of sausage. It is not too dry and it is not too salty. The croissant is also very flaky and buttery. Like all of these pastries, it is best if it is consumed hot/warm so that the crust will be crispy and flaky. Nevertheless, since the sausage is still salty, and the pastry is salty as well, I find that the taste is not too complementary. I will probably try out other pastries the next time around instead of this.

zai bee hoon OK Apr 21, 2013

Vegetarian beehoon I was working in the area and the group of us decided to have our lunch at this food centre. I had a sudden craving for vegetarian food, so I ordered from the vegetarian stall. I ordered the beehoon together with some ingredients like mock char siew, curry vegetables and fried beancurd skin. The beehoon is fried until it is quite dry, so it will be better if you request for some gravy to be drizzled on the beehoon. I had some of the curry on my beehoon, so it was of the right wetness. The mock char siew is rather tough to bite but I loved the fried beancurd skin as it is very crispy. The next time I will probably reorder this fried beancurd skin and try other ingredients.
