red bean pancake Cry Apr 08, 2012
Categories : Desserts and Cakes

I stopped by Mr bean to get a pancake for myself to eat at home since I was feeling slightly hungry. Nowadays there are much more flavours available like the milo flavour and custard. I decided to get the red bean flavour. I am quite sure that the last time I bought it, it isn't so sweet. The red bean seemed to be exceptionally sweet today, and I didn't like it. The sweetness has overwhelmed the red bean taste and it is as though I am eating sugar pancake and not red bean pancake. I hope this is only a once off thing, because it is really far too sweet in my opinion.

too oily Cry Dec 22, 2011
Categories : Fujian/Heng Hwa | Hawker Centre

My father saw a few tables having this orh jian (oyster omelette) and hence asked if we wanted a plate as well. I am not really a fan of it, hence I told him to get the smallest portion. He got the $3 portion, which was really quite small. I felt that the orh jian is far too oily and greasy. We all agreed that it is fortunate that we ordered the smallest portion since it is really like eating eggs soaked in oil and we counted at most 4 oysters which was really quite pathetic. I wouldn’t recommend this at all.

corn pancake Cry Dec 15, 2011
Categories : Desserts and Cakes

It has been a long while since I saw the corn pancake. Some other outlets do not actually have this so when I saw this, I decided to get this instead of the multigrain cheese pancake.

The corn pancake is more heavy on the pancake batter though. The filling is not entirely full of corns as I have imagined, which is why I said it is more heavy on the batter, since some of the batter is mixed with the corn filling. In essence, the filling is a mixture of cooked batter and corn, which makes this quite a let down, since I was expecting it to be bursting with corn kernels.

Spending per head: Approximately $1

chocolate cake Cry Oct 19, 2011
Categories : Bakery

My family got this chocolate cake from Breadtalk to celebrate my brother's birthday. It was all our first time trying out this cake. Previously, we have always gotten the green tea cake from bread talk and all of us had enjoyed it a lot. We can't say the same for this cake though. The cake is far too "dry" for me, in the sense that my throat feels dry after eating it. Moreoever, it is really quite sweet as well and it doesnt have much chocolate taste. It was really quite disappointing.I don't think I will ever try this again.

red bean macarons Cry Aug 31, 2011
Categories : Café | Desserts and Cakes

My brother us some of these macarons which I think is the special macarons in conjunction with the mooncake festival. It was my very first time eating macarons from Canele and I was eagerly anticipating the taste when I bit into this pink coloured one, which is the red bean flavour.

To be frank, I was disappointed. Besides the sweetness, all I can taste is still sweetness. The sweetness is far too overwhelming such that I cannot taste the red bean flavour, except for the two red beans in the middle of the cream.
