Crispy pancakes OK Dec 02, 2014
Categories : Coffeeshop

Ah Long pancake is famous because of the crispness. As such, the pancake are made to order. They even have a small signage which says that if the pancake turns out to be too black for your liking, you can choose to change it. I thought my family would want to try as well, so I ordered four pancakes which the auntie placed in a box for easier carrying. I chose two peanut pancakes and two coconut pancakes.

The pancake is indeed very crispy at the edges. The filling is also ample. In fact, because the pancake is thin and crispy, there is a higher filling to pancake ratio. Overall it is a great snack for munching on, and not for satisfying hunger pangs.

Sharetea OK Dec 02, 2014
Categories : Taiwanese | Bubble Tea/ Tea

After lunch, all my colleagues and I are looking around for drinks to bring back to office and we decided to get Sharetea. I have never had Sharetea before, so, on my colleague’s recommendation, I decided to order the Homemade pudding milk tea which costs $2.90. Like most or all bubble tea stalls today, we are able to choose the sugar level and I went for 0%. The queue is just us so we got our drinks fairly quickly since they began preparing once we made our order. The milk tea, even though it is 0% sweetness, is sufficiently flavourful and tasty since it is milky and I am thinking the milk has sweetness as well. The pudding is very tasty. It tastes somewhat like a custard flavoured pudding and it is very soft and could be easily sipped up with the straw. I preferred this to the pearls. The pudding is also sweet, so I was glad that I ordered it with 0% sugar level.

Wanton noodles OK Dec 02, 2014
Categories : Singaporean | Chinese | Coffeeshop | Noodles

For lunch yesterday, I ordered from this wanton noodles stall as the queue is short and the photos of the dish looks very appetising. I chose the fried wantons instead of the non-fried wantons since I am ordering a takeaway and I was afraid the skin of the soup wantons will be all lumpy when I got back. The noodles did not get all soggy when I ate it half an hour later. The noodles retain their bite and are quite yummy with the sauce that they use to season the noodles. The wantons are also nice and it is still rather crispy. The char siew is normal though. I love the chili as it is quite spicy and is really heats up the noodles. For the chili, I will patronise again.

Economic rice  OK Dec 01, 2014
Categories : Singaporean | Chinese | Hawker Centre | Rice

I wanted something fast hence I joined the queue for economic rice as it is the fastest moving queue. The dishes are aplenty since it is lunch time and understandably, there are more varieties of dishes to get people to buy from them. I got a total of three different dishes, bitter gourd, chicken and fried tau kwa. The bitter gourd is cooked just the way I like it as it is not too soft and the bitter taste is quite mild. The spicy chicken is also rather nice as the chicken meat is tender. The downside is the large amount of oil used. Overall, it is an alright lunch.

red bean taiyaki OK Dec 01, 2014
Categories : Japanese

My friend and I are walking around Raffles City when we spotted this small stall opposite Cedele. It sells takoyaki and taiyaki and being taiyaki lovers, we decided to get a taiyaki each. There are savoury fillings like ham and cheese and sweet fillings like custard and red bean. I got the red bean pancake which costs $1.80. My friend got the custard which is also priced at $1.80. As there are already spare taiyakis made beforehand, we got our taiyakis immediately. The taiyaki is already cooled, but the exterior is still rather crispy. The pancake is comparatively thinner and this will make a light snack as it does not occupy too much stomach space. I quite like the red bean filling as it is moist and not too overly sweet. That said, I would prefer Tai Parfait’s taiyaki over this.
