It was an impromptu breakfast arrangement on a Saturday morning and we did not make an advance reservation. We approached the cafe as walk-in customers. We were then told that they were fully booked till 11am and they will call us in 20 minutes time if there were empty seats.

The doughnut stick was said to be on the house, the reason being that they have kept us waiting.

The Ema's Set is the basic set among all and only served until noon. This gives us a choice of croissant or pain au chocolate or sultana or small brioche or wholemeal mini-baguette with butter and jam.

All sets on the menu are served with fruit juice and any coffee or hot tea or even hot chocolate. It quite out of the ordinary practise that they offer 2 glasses of drinks in a meal.

The chocolate brioche is a perfect addition to a simple breakfast. The buns are pillowy soft and consist of chocolate.

The set comes with a glass of fruit juice and we have cranberry and lime juice. These are not freshly squeezed juices and most probably some carton juices that can be bought off from the shelves.

The Egg's Benedict's is a definite crowd-pleaser as almost each and every table did have one such similar-looking dish as their order. An a la carte order would have it cost at $19 but we have ordered in as a set and that comes with 2 drinks.

Choupinette has nailed it! The Egg's Benedict was perfectly done and well-executed with hollandaise sauce spread on both poached eggs.

Besides just having eggs on toast with ham and hollandaise sauce, I'm actually quite impressed but how crispy the toast was. The texture was simply as good as munching on some biscuits.

As an overall, service was ordinary and the cafe space is limited and hard to accommodate a large group. It will be advisable to do a reservation prior to going down to avoid disappointment.

We ordered brunch sets, because we are here for brunch! Brunch set comes with 2 drinks, which you can choose any type of fruit juice, and either a hot coffee/tea/chocolate.

Eggs Benedict's ($25.00). It has poached eggs on toast with ham and hollandaise sauce. I love their hollandaise sauce for being thick and creamy, and poached eggs are boiled to have the yolk oozing out like volcano lava!

The Tristan's ($24.00). Choose between scrambled/poached/fried eggs, and comes with pork/chicken sausage, mushrooms, and a wholemeal bread roll. Ordered the pork sausage, which is definitely handmade from the look and taste of it.

"100 000" ChouChou ($4.50) for a stick of donuts sprinkled with tiny sweet pops. Basically sugar coated plain donuts, which I managed to stomach them all in. Fluffy and well sugar-coated donut just makes up the complete brunch of mine!

It's more worth it as it comes along with fruit juice and coffee! To be honest, I personally feel this is the best eggs benedict in singapore! The hollandaise sauce complements perfectly with the large portion of well cooked bacon and perfect flowy poached eggs!

This is the place I'll recommend to you visit, MUST.

We also ordered a Spinach Quiche ($6), which was the only quiche left. Anyway, I didn't like it as I prefer meaty and savoury quiches. If I'm in the vicinity, I would love to pop by and takeaway their freshly baked pastries! They are famous for their Eggs Benedict and I might come back here for brunch!

Known for their Eggs Ben and authentic French pastries, Choupinette has been in the spotlight lately as the it-place for brunch. And this place has been on our list for like 2 months now but with all our different schedules, the five of us only managed to finally pick a common date recently to try this place out!

Each set comes with a juice and hot drink. The juice choices were grapefruit, apple, orange, cranberry, lime and pineapple. Three of us chose grapefruit the first round but the lady soon came back to tell us that they were out. She then took my second choice order of pineapple before returning another time to say that it was also out. I would have gotten a little annoyed but our server was really nice and apologetic, it seemed almost impossible to get upset with her. So apple juice it was because that was all that was left.

The reputable Eggs Benedict soon arrived at our tables. $20++ is a steep price to pay for an Eggs Ben and we were about to find out if the price tag was justified. Unfortunately, the eggs were a little overcooked and did not flow quite as easily as beautifully poached eggs would have, but the Hollandaise sauce was excellent. Perfectly rich and buttery, it was so smooth and creamy, I almost forgot I was not having beautifully poached eggs. The ham slices too were shaved right and not too salty. And the baguette that the eggs were sitting on? Oh so good. Well buttered, crisp and delicious

The Eggs Royal was slightly more expensive at $21++ but with the generous serve of smoked salmon slices, one could hardly complain!

The English Coq was your usual Big Breakfast with the sausage, eggs, tomato, mushrooms, bread and butter. We felt that this was a little plain for $19++ but nonetheless, the individual components were well executed and cooked so it was all good.

Lastly, we had the Ken's Set $10++ which came with a Viennoiserie of choice! Under our server's advice, we picked the Pineapple Danish because pain au chocolat and chocolate danish sounded 'too plain and ordinary'. The Danish pastry was sweet, flaky, buttery and crisp along the edges. We all thought that the pastry was delicious on its own without the pineapple slice.

Overall, brunch at Choupinette was a nice experience. Though our reservations did not get through and I had to keep changing my juice choice because so many were unavailable, the Eggs Ben/Florentine/Royal and pastry did make up for it. Not forgetting the excellent service we experienced even though the place was so crowded and they were clearly understaffed. Kudos to the servers and their unwavering cheerful smiles. While Im not sure if this is the best Eggs Ben I have had in Singapore and it is a little pricey, it is definitely worthwhile to make a trip down here, at least once.

Along the streets of Bukit Timah, Choupinette is easily missed despite its rainbow-coloured signboard, located right beside Coronation Plaza. I've often dismissed it as a shop selling wine, only to realise upon reaching that this is the one! Serving up rather decent brunches, it is a very cosy setting allowing for just about 20 persons seating at one go. With a bakery stand, desserts counter and bistro-styled dining, it's really the place to go just to chill out with your girlfriends any time of the day!

Stepping into the place just makes you feel like you're in a time-warped machine, where you can just while your time away here, and the world seems to slow down altogether. The whole ambience makes you want to savour your food slowly and just chill over a cuppa coffee. Downside, though, would be the slightly cramped space that you have to move around sometimes in order to allow people to pass.

For every brunch set, it comes with a cold drink, a hot one and the main course itself. I think it's absolutely awesome that they provide the variety and the impression that you can take your time for your meals.

Classic English breakfast, with sausage, poached eggs, mushrooms, tomato and baguette. Cutting open the poached eggs, its yolks oozed out immediately and it was to a perfect warm temperature. The sausage was a little disappointing, as I'd expected a thicker pork sausage. It was a tad too salty, even by the standards of plain sausages. The baguette was truly awesome though! It was just crisp on the outside and toasted to the right level even for the insides! I believe that everytime you eat a great baguette, it should be a messy affair, and this truly lived up to it. Even the parts right inside were very lightly toasted, without charring or over-toasting the outside. It was definitely impressive!

A simple dish done well in my opinion. I like the creaminess of the Hollandaise sauce generously drizzled over the poached eggs and the eggs' standards were maintained for all our dishes. It was a good combination of ham with sourdough bread which gave the different textures coupled with the egg.

Fit for the royalty! Just when I thought the Eggs Ben were done well, this truly exceeded my expectations! I've always thought that smoked salmon wouldn't be a good complement to the dish because it will be slightly cold and slimey, not giving the extra crunch to the experience. However, this one proved me wrong by having very slightly toasted smoked salmon, adding to the flavour of the dish and just a little crisp to it. Highly recommended to try this at Choupinette!

Overall, I've enjoyed my brunch experience, with dishes that exceeded my expectations (probably I'd lowered them after visiting Hatched). The ambience is definitely great, for families over breakfast, girls' sessions over tea, and I can imagine the place coming to life at night just like the places along Bukit Timah. A nice, cosy setting for you to just stop and smell the breads
I would recommend this place for just a decent brunch!

The thing that struck us about this quaint little whimsical shop is that the menu's surprisingly extensive despite its small size. I've always thought that Choupinette was a bakery that did breakfast eggs, but it seems that they do quite a fair bit of European fare, like lasagna, beef stew and chicken pie.

We had:

1) Eggs Benedict ($22 as a set with a juice and hot drink): 2 perfectly poached eggs sitting on ribbons of salty shaved ham and toasty muffins, and drenched in a thick and silky Hollandaise sauce is elegant and nuanced. The delicate flavours of the various components were married very well. This is the one thing that'll probably make me return in lieu of Wild Honey. The rave reviews for this were definitely well deserved.

2) Tristan ($21 as a set with a juice and hot drink) is the bao-ga-liao English-styled breakfast, with fluffy scrambled eggs, chunkily textured lightly spiced juicy pork sausages, sauteed white button and shitake mushrooms, grilled tomato provencale, and a wholemeal baguette.

An overall good brunch. i'll be back

Most coffee joints in Singapore serve lattes, which have more milk than espresso, so imagine our delight at finally finding good strong flat whites at Choupinette.
The place is a bit cramped though and the freaking cushions on the chairs keep sliding off.

One of the desserts we had is custard & raspberry cake, Millefeuille Framboise was rather relatively good as I like the slight crisp the wafer complements the custard.

The Lemon Meringue tart was however too sugary in taste for the top meringue while the tart at the bottom was very very sour. Extremes in taste, imo I would give this a miss for the variety of choices available on display

Macaroons was relatively good, however I would still prefer those at canele and 1caramel
