came by adam road & decided to try the noo cheng big prawn noodles on 20.2.2016. ^^
i had not taken from this stall for many many years. some how the impression was that it was so so, so didn’t really want to try it.
turned out that it was really not too bad la!
i recorded on my facebook post as –
It’s actually not bad for $5…though I ordered the bakut but they don’t have only gave me sliced pork…chilli pretty good actually..
soup tasty & intense don’t have why eat har’s smoothness with underlying sweetness…I think why eat har chilli better also…
but this noo cheng far better than I expected
they gave 2 medium prawns + 1 small prawns for S$5.
i asked for bakut but they gave me sliced pork. i guessed they ran out of bakut…i had the bakut when i tried again the next day & it was good too.
overall i think it was quite good leh…maybe comparable with ah hui prawn noodles at balestier food centre.

It wasn't crowded as it was still early and this place is usually only packed at night. I ordered the Prawn Noodle but I had to wait for a while, the staff seems to be busy with something. Unfortunately, it was bland and overrated. I had my hopes high after seeing all the ads. There are limited carpark lots, so if you anyhow park be careful of summon officers.

The cheapest bowl of prawn noodles cost a whooping $4 which is rather expensive for a hawker centre. I like how they use thicker beehoon instead of the skinny type of beehoon. I knew about this stall from the gordon ramsey's challenge and was thus curious about how good it is. i have tried better prawn noodles elsewhere. The prawn noodles lacked flavour in the soup which I find spoils the whole dish as the soup is definitely a very important component in a good bowl of prawn noodles soup.

It was after an early morning trekking session at macritchie that we decided to come to adam road for its famour big prawn noodle! I have heard lots of rave about this place and I know its always super long queue but because we were on a weekend queue was rather short. The prawns are fresh and I would say medium instead of large size and each bowl cost between $5 to $10 which is expensive for hawker food.. Will not come here purposely to eat it but will definitely eat it again if i come to adam road.

Noo Cheng Adam Road Big Prawn Mee is quite a hit with the patrons of Adam Road Food Centre. Ok lor, so many people eat this, cannot go too wrong right.

We ordered smallest portion Pork Ribs Big Prawn Noodles ($5) & Pork Slices Big Prawn Noodles ($4). Suggestion: try mixing 2 different noodles together for a more textured bite & ask the auntie for more broth.

They have different prawn treatment for their Pork Ribs & Pork Slice options. The prawns for the Pork Ribs Noodles were kept intact while the prawns for the Sliced Pork Noodles were neatly cut into half for convenience.

My personal take is that the portion is relatively small for $4. The prawns are not really big as what the name suggested and perhaps not as fresh as I would like them to be. But the broth is definitely tasty and the good part is you can go back & request for a refill anytime.

Please pardon my service & ambience ratings as this is a hawker centre stall! Do not come here if you are looking out for chill out or good service.

The Adam Road Food Centre has always been quite inaccessible until the opening of the Botanic Garden MRT station. From the station, it is just a short walk to the food centre. My fav stall is the Noo Cheng Adam Road Big Prawn Noodle. I will normally order dry mee kia with medium prawns. The noodles is very Q and is cooked perfectly. The medium prawns although not very big is still tasty. The soup is especially nice and fragrant.

Yummy prawn noodle. did you see how big the size was in my bowl. Just three prawns and it almost covered the noodle. No wonder it is called - Big prawn noodle! Apart from inspecting the prawn since it is like so big and i think this is my second time trying the big prawn, I also tried out for the soup to see if it is those real prawn soup based or just plain soup based. After trying. it did not let me down as i can really tastes the prawn sweetness in the soup . Yummy ! Will definitely go back

If you come at the wrong timing then you might ended waiting for them to be done with their preparation work before opening for business.

I ordered the $4.00 portion with medium sized prawns. It came with 3 pieces of medium sized prawns and a few slices of lean meat. The portion of mee kia was just right and it served along with a generous bit of veggies. I remember that they used to include pig's skin in their soup but no sight of it today which can be a good thing as the soup tends to get too oily with the pig's skin. The prawns tasted really fresh, the fresh came off the shell in a whole piece effortlessly. The few pieces of lean meat tasted a little too tough and i did not quite like it. I think i should stick with the pork ribs next time.

If you are willing to pay more than you have the option to choose the bigger sized prawns at $8.00 or even at $10.00.

It still tasted as good as before but my partner prefer the other famous prawn mee at Thai Thong Crescent somewhat.

Although their signage says Big Prawn Noodle, yet it doesn't look like it's that big afterall and freshness is just ok...Ordered their $5 worth of prawn and pork ribs mee noodle. However their soup base is quite strong in taste and not too diluted. With added chili powder onto it, the overall taste is still quite acceptable.

Noo Cheng Adam Road Big Prawn Noodle! Totally love their prawn mee. Their soup is super delicious and the best thing is, its re-fillable! Their prawns are also very big and fresh, very juicy indeed! It is also priced at a very reasonable price. The stall owner is also very friendly despite the long queue outside. Thumbs up!

Despite the hype about how big their prawns were and how nice their prawn mee was, i found nothing particularly worth praising. The prawns, though big, were not very fresh. The soup just didn't taste right - maybe im too used to the normal prawn mee soup where it is more watery? For the $8/$10 per bowl that it costs, this is definitely not worth the price in my opinion. You can order 2 nasi lemak from the famous Adam Road nasi lemak with that money, its a much smarter way of spending your money!

A normal bowl of prawn mee starts from $5.00 then $8.00 and $10.00. You have different size of prawns to choose from. But for the $5.00 bowl, the prawns were disappointingly small, but it's still pretty tasty and the soup was flavorful, so nothing to compare. I was surprised to find a piece of pig skin in the soup and i think it did make the soup a little oily. The pork ribs were rather soft and nice.

This stall is not my top choice for prawn mee.
