FoodSiew Mai (comes 3 in a tray and not sold individually), S$1.70 , it is less often that we find chestnut bits in Siew Mai nowadays. Quite tasty and crunchy with the chestnut bits added. However, a lot of MSG are added to enchance its taste - I felt very thirsty after eating them all. Small Char Siew bao, S$0.80. Initially I thought it was a middle size char siew bun. This mini cutie char siew bun has nothing special from the exterior look and it turns quite soggy after placing in the plastic bag. The paper on its base is difficult to tear off at a go. Pau skin is nothing fantastic but the fillings are sweet & tasty with all the chopped meats.ServiceService is of average just that the lady did not wish to communicate much and give a sulky look throughout my experience.PricePrice is quite standard and according to most of the Dian Xin rates. continue reading

There was a few people right at this stall so i thought i should try it too. I ordered a big pau for $1.50 and 2 char siew paus at 0.80 cents each. The big pau tasted unexpectedly good. Big pieces of chunky meat with a slice of hard-boiled egg were enclosed in the soft layer of skin. The char siew pau was rather disappointing in comparison. The layer of skin was rather thick with little char siew filling in it. The size was slightly smaller as compared to some of those out there. I would definitely skip the char siew pau for the big pau next time. continue reading

I had to queue around 5minutes before I could order the char siew pau, which I have seen one other table having it. This char siew pau is really delicious in my opinion! The char siew is slightly sweet, slightly saltish and not too gooey such that I am still able to taste the char siew meat in the pau. The pau skin is also not too thick which allows me to savour more of the char siew. The only bad thing is that it is too small! One pau is not enough. continue reading

I got this plate of hargows at $1.70 for a plate of 3 to share among the 3 of us. We were actually debating whether or not 3 is enough and it is fortunate that we only got 3. The hargows are small and very disappointing indeed. The prawns inside are not crunchy at all - it is more mashy like the prawn has gone stale. The skin is also thick and rather hard. Eat it your own risk! continue reading

This has now topped my list of favorite pau! Not sure if it is really home made as the name of the stall says. Nevertheless, I ordered 3 big chicken pau. I heated it up at home, as I like it hot and steaming. The skin (bread) is soft and thin, and the filling was really nice and delicious. Very fragrant, well marinated, not too oily, a little juicy. I think this review will not do it justice, but it is really fabulous and you got to try it! continue reading
