Saba Fish Rice Box 薄鹽鯖魚飯包 ($8.90)
This one takes the longes to be served. It seems that the pagar is not working. Quite a big piece of fish.

Pork Rib White Radish Soup ($2.50)
The white radish is very flavourful and soft. The pork rib is small but tender. Tasty soup.

Winter melon Tea ($1)
Tastes not bad but a bit too much ice cubes inside. I think more than half is ice cubes.

Overall very tasty and filling lunch. But quite difficult to get a seat during lunch hour.

Woo is a well known ricebox chain from Taiwan. From 1939, Woo Ricebox has now grown into a chain with more than 200 outlets all over Taiwan. The chain uses slightly sticky Chihshang rice grains - the texture is a cross between Japanese pearl rice and Thai fragrant rice. Recently it expands to Singapore with an outlet in Raffles Place. The outlet has 14 types of riceboxes on its menu : Woo's Pork Chop Rice Box ($8.30), Big Drumstick Rice Box ($8.30), Spicy Drumstick Rice Box ($8.90), Crispy Chic

Based on the recommendation of the staff at the counter, I order a Railway Pork Chop Rice Box ($9.90). What is unique about the pork chop is that the pork chop is first deep fried, follows by braising. The ricebox comes in a sealed up, and biodegradable wooden box to ensure that fried toppings don't get soggy.

The pork chop filled up the whole box and very tender and flavourful. As the pork chop is not sliced into pieces, I have difficulty in eating it with just chopsticks.

Underneath the pork chop, there is sauteed seasonal vegetables, pickles and a braised egg which are delicious too.

I down all these with a cup of Red Tea ($1) which is not too sweet and full of the tea taste.

Overall the food is very nice and brings back wonderful memories of Taiwan. Although it is much more costly than what I have in Taiwan, but it is one of the closest taste that one can get in Singapore.

The Woo Pork Chop Rice Box & Homemade Wintermelon Tea is great. The premium short-grain rice is specially imported from Chihshang, and comes with seasonal vegetables, pickles, half a braised egg and a main meat item (in this case being the pork chop). The portion of the pork chop is big and it is also meaty and juicy. Their wintermelon tea is also homemade and is refreshing to have while having the ricebox. One thing to note is the food is slightly on the dry side (which should be the case to prevent the food from getting soggy, especially when you are travelling around so your food will still taste great after that)

To get a reminisce of Taiwanese food, do come here as this place does it close enough to the riceboxes you can get in transit while in Taiwan.

The Spicy Drumstick Rice box is popularly called as Woo in Taiwan and it is a famous food item that has been in existence for over 70 years now. I ordered for Woo and I was served with Taiwan style ricboxes and the drumstick that was served along with it was spicy. I enjoyed every bit of it as it had a juicy meat that had a crispy outer skin. It was quite large a serving and was enough for me.

Back then when I was in Taiwan for holiday, I brought this similar ricebox (饭包) to eat in the train traveling to 九份. Today, Woo Ricebox is trying to woo the locals with similar concepts! I had the signature dish, F3 黄金排骨饭包, topped up a dollar more for a drink and cost me $9.90 for a meal! It's really innovative and taste much better than the one I had in Taiwan!Definitely coming back for lunch someday!
