The chance is here! And this time round I was here on a weekday morning in Toa Payoh for a plate of so called one of the best carrot cake in Singapore. In the past I was there in the evening and was rather disappointed as by the time I was there, Chey Sua Carrot Cake Stall was already closed for the business day.There was no queue in front of the stall which caught me by surprised and immediately i went up and order a medium portion at $3 but was asked for a table number. There was no queue in front of the stall which caught me by surprised and immediately i went up and order a medium portion at $3 but was asked for a table number. They provide the service to your table and no wonder there was no queue to be seen.

They are one of the few carrot cakes stall left that insist in preparing their own carrot cake from the scratch instead of adopting the factory packed carrot cake. And if you are looking for traditional taste like this, Chey Sua Carrot Cake may suits the list.

Though most of the Carrot Cake comes in white or Black version, for Chey Sua, their default will be white. I was absolutely surprise when the lady took my order over. Carrot cake was fried to crisp and you can see the distinctively layer and amount of eggs used. The combination of crispiness and softness of their carrot cake was heavenly. Not forgetting about the consistent use of chai bor that had been mixed with the carrot cake, elevating its taste. Unlike the usual carrot cakes we had in rectangular and cube shapes, theirs remind me of Korean Kimchi Pancake.

Spelling another difference in their carrot cake will be the style of chilli used. If you realised, chilli was only a final touchup on the exterior crisp layer. The uniqueness of Chey Sua Carrot Cake had really won my heart! I don't mind travelling here in the morning for a plate of this again!

I realized one thing lately, Carrot Cake was not nice when eating alone but fabulous if shared it with colleagues. Placed our order and told the boss our table’s number, the waiting time was about 20 minutes.Ultimate recipe, I prefer the white version which was flat and neat. Ultimate recipe, I prefer the white version which was flat and neat. Chopped into tiny pieces, it was then pan-fried until crispy with eggs. The boss insisted to have their own steamed rice cake, the texture was better than the factory-made. Paired with salty radishes, the chunks were even tastier with the chilli. She ordered a plate and the portion was all right for three of us. Only $2.00, it was affordable for sure.

My wife will also order the carrot cake from this stall whenever we go to the market. Its pan fried till the outer layer is crispy. The chili makes the carrot cake taste nicer with a bit of a sweet after taste. This stall have been invited to Singapore Day in Sydney. That shows how famous it is among Singaporeans. They are open only in the morning and closes at about 1pm.

I had to wait about 30min for my order and the person selling the carrot cake wasnt very friendly. the carrot cake was good though, texture was just right, not too crispy and not too soft, fresh and flavourful. price was also reasonable at 3 bucks for quite a large plate. overall i like it just that the waiting time was a bit too long, I suggest you could order other food first while waiting.

Whenever I had a craving for carrot cake, I will always think of Chey Sua carrot cake. What's so different about them is that their carrot cake is made from scratch. I like the way which it is served in a large chunk which is similar to the concept of a pancake. The outer layer is pan-fried till crispy while it is soft and moist in the inside. Lastly, this plate of carrot cake only costs $2.

There are many good carrot cake stalls in Singapore. Personally, I've always preferred the white carrot cake. And one of my favourite stall is in Toa Payoh where I grew up. Similar to Come Daily Hokkien Mee at the same food centre, I have practically grew up with both stalls. And over the years, I also watched the older generation pass the baton on to their younger generation. There are many good carrot cake stalls in Singapore. Personally, I've always preferred the white carrot cake. And one of my favourite stall is in Toa Payoh where I grew up. A good carrot cake to me is a combination of fresh home made carrot cake, eggs and chye poh (pickled radish). Like any other good stall, Chey Sua still makes their own carrot cake. You can see them being portioned out of small aluminium bowls which they have been using since they first opened. What I particularly like about their carrot cake is one side is fried practically to a crisp while the other side is only lightly fried. So what you get is a crispy surface and white carrot cake all the way through. The portion of eggs is generous and the chye poh is just right, not too salty. And of course the chilli is just nice too, not too overpowering or oily.

They are opened from 6am till 1pm everyday except on Mondays. Perfect for a weekend breakfast.

I met my friends for a lunch a few days ago. We had our meal at hawker centre due to time limit, all of us need to rush back working after lunch hour. Believe it or not, most of my friends around me dislike this dish. They categorized this ‘Carrot Cake’ as dull food whereby the taste more suitable for elderly. Yet, I liked it, and I ignored my friends’ nagging. Personally I prefer ‘Carrot Cake’ with dark sauce. It was value-added to its taste. It was definitely inexpensive, $2.50 per plate.

This is my most favourite carrot cake. The carrot cake was soft and moist in texture. These carrot cake were handmade by the owner. They pan-fried it very well with a lot of egg and chai po to a nice crispy texture. If you wanted chilli, they will wait till the carrot cake was ready before applied a layer of the carrot cake. The spiciness is quite mild so it did not make much difference in the taste. The waiting time can be quite long if you come during weekends.

A very popular fried carrot cake stall in this food centre and at Toa Payoh. Their business is very good during the earlier part of the morning and weekends. I always try to come during their off-peak period so i do not have to wait too long. What i love about the fried carrot cake is they fried it nicely till it is very crispy. The carrot cake is soft and moist. I always asked for extra chai po to go with it.

There carrot cake was indeed unique, it was served in one piece unlike others stall where you can identify bits of the carrot cake. Another thing was that it was not too oily which makes it less fattening. A nice breakfast for my husband and me.

One thing to note is that the carrot cake here is fried until crispy in blocks so it is unlike some other stalls which fry their carrot cake hapzardly until the carrot cake is in bits and separated. I ordered the white carrot cake while my hubby queued for the dumpling noodle. The queue here is longer but it is worth the wait. This is the best fried carrot cake i ever eaten. They always pan fried it so well to leave a crispy outer layer and with moist cake cake underneath. They are quite generous with chye po. They always applied the chilli on top of the carrot cake after pan fried. If you do not like chilli then you better tell them in advance. Be prepared to wait as there is always queue.
