5X ramen was ordered by boyfriend because he is a big eaten. He ordered the white tora. I try the ramen too which i love the texture of the ramen. 5X ramen service only available on Cha Shu Tsukemen. He also added bowl of soup as he scared it was not enough. It cost $14.90 and with an additional soup order earlier will be extra $3.I had a Cha Shu don that cost $7.90 instead!

The soup of the ramen is too salty and oily to my preference. It came with only one pathetic piece of Cha Shu with a piece of Seaweed and a soft boiled egg. I think aijsen ramen seems to taste better.

Came as a side together with the Ramen. The cuttlefish was abit too tough and chewy. It does have a mild taste of curry. The only good thing was that it was served piping hot.

As for the white tora ramen, the noodles were OK but the soup was a little too salty and oily to my liking. The char siew was pretty big but then it didn't feel as tender as I would have wanted it to be.

I've not tried the other Menya Musashi outlets but just purely based on what I've tasted, I think the ramen here is decent but I probably would not want to queue up for it. I may return only if the restaurant is not jam-packed.

Love the crispy gyozas!!

They were cooked to perfection! Ever since I attempted cooking some on my own the other time, where the skin broke, I really 佩服 those who can master it well!
Ramen was alright, you had to dip the ramen and ingredients into the pork broth tasting sauce and eat, similar to cha soba's style! After a while, I think the salt content was too much, my friend and I had glasses and glasses of water!
Cha Shu had this slight burnt bbq taste!
The egg was disappointing though, slightly overcooked.

Presentation wise not impressed, with the meat shielded by the beancurd skin. You get 2 round sized cha shu and half a tamago egg. Soup was nice, deeply flavoured but i find it a tad oily and most importantly could not bring back my memory of tokyo. The octopus is nice but pretty much many other places can match the quality. Overall just an average eat but if you would like a quiet ramen joint to eat on your own in the afternoon after peak hour, this is the place.

I’m a huge Japanese food lover so I’m always on the lookout for the best places for Japanese dining in Singapore. We had a cosy booth for the 4 of us and all coincidentally ordered the White Kakuni Ramen ($13.60). While the noodles were well-done and the half-boiled egg and pork were executed nicely, I felt that the soup base was much too salty for my taste. It was delicious but too salty for me to truly enjoy the dish. Thus, I don’t think I will be going back anytime soon unless they change the soup base. I also did not particularly care for the black fungus in the soup because I’m not a fan of it but it did not affect the overall taste of the meal much.

Menya musashi has better than average ramen, having tried once previously. I got the cha shu tsukemen spicy broth ramen this time. You are supposed to dip the ramen into the broth and eat it, which is quite unique, different from the usual ramen immersed in the broth, and the way of eating is somewhat like japanese cold noodles. ramen was springy, and I like the egg as usual. The broth is not too spicy and rather flavourful.

Menya's tsukumen ramen $14.90 is rather unusual in the sense that the noodles are served au naturel or "kosong" in Malay, separately from the broth. At Menya, the ramen is served at a standard tasting portion of 120g which is like a kid portion but they allow diners to upsize their ramen portion by up to a whopping 5x! Due to their strict policy of "no sharing" and "no takeaway", most diners would opt for 2x 120g though those with huge appetites may opt for 3x 120g ramen portion. The upsize is s

The upsize is strictly for the ramen only and does NOT apply to the soup or toppings/other ingredients.

The tsukumen ramen was topped by four 0.5cm thick slices of marbled chashu, bamboo shoots, half egg and plenty of shredded scallions (see photo). It was accompanied by half a bowl of broth and they charge another $3 for another half bowl of soup. The included portion of soup seems adequate only for the regular 120g ramen portion so I guess the trick here is to let you upsize your ramen but not really free since you need to pay extra for the soup. Based on menu instructions the way to eat the tsukumen ramen is to dip them into the soup. Unfortunately the accompanying broth was way too runny or diluted to be used as a dipping sauce. IMHO Menya should serve concentrated broth similar to the consistency of lor mee gravy with their tsukumen ramen so that the broth is thick enough to coat each strand of ramen evenly.

I ended up mixing small portions of ramen and shredded scallions into the small bowl of broth. The result of doing this is that the broth had cooled down to room temperature when I was only half way through my ramen. So I had to order another portion of soup. Anyway I find Menya's food rather overrated. The soup was not that great - it was not really flavourful and the dominant taste was saltiness rather than meaty.

Service was attentive and brisk. However the restaurant was too dark and uninviting, with the dated stark black decor and dim lighting. Casual restaurants should be bright instead of resembling a dark, sleazy karaoke lounge.

The white ramen broth is much much better than I expected, it's richer and thicker than most cheap ramen chains in Singapore, but I was slightly disappointed by the noodles. They were a bit too overcooked for my liking and I'd like it a bit springier. Apart from that, the rest was all good. The egg was cooked to perfection with the yolk semi-solid, and the braised pork had a nice smoky flavour to it. Pity they only gave one slice for the lunch set instead of the usual 3?

The tofu was very light even though it had been deep fried to golden perfection -the light soy sauce it was in made it a delight to tuck into. Garnished with spring onion, bonito flakes and seaweed, it was delicious -the inside of the tofu was still soft and delicate while the outside was a fine, crispy layer that was piping hot.

I would say that for $13.90, the set is quite worth it as it gets you a ramen and side dish, which I might add is quite filling and definitely substantial enough. Not the best ramen you'll taste, but above average.

The side dish is also of decent quantity. Overall the set meal is sufficient to fill the hunger. i would love to try the dry ramen next time.

We ordered Houji cha @ S$1.00 for a cup. It is refillable. I ordered Musashi cha shu salad @ S$8.90. This is my first time trying salad with cha shu combination. The presentation looks attractive and colourful. The salads are fresh and the dressing sauce is just nice.

My friend ordered Otora Ramen @ S$16.90. He commented that the ramen texture is like normal local noodle taste. There isn't ramen texture feel. The soup base is ok only. No much comment on that.

Overall bill inclusive of service charge and GST is S$32.72 for 2 persons. If you are opting for casual dinning, you may want to give it a try here. I would stick to my salad instead.

There are 3 types of soup base for the soup ramen, white for the original miso flavour, black for the burnt garlic flavour and red soup broth which is the spicy one.

White Cha Shu Ramen: The soup is quite thick and salty. (have been drinking lots of water while eating it) the Cha Shu is kind of disappointing as it is quite hard to chew on, probably a little overcooked. They give a generous serving of seaweed and vegetables. The egg is soft and nice. Noodles are springy and able to abosrb the flavour of the soup.

Black Kakuni Ramen: After eating half of the bowl, my friend got sick of the taste. The soup may be too thick and too salty too and the garlic taste may be too overpowering.

Red Tsukemen: Noodles and soup/sauce are served in separate bowls and the way to eat that is to take a mouthful of ramen n dip it into the soup/sauce and then into the mouth. It is quite a unique way of eating ramen and the sauce is quite nice. Since you can dip the ramen ito the suace, you can control the saltiness of the ramen. They even offer free up to times 5 upsize! Upsizing is definitely worth the price of it.

Side dishes:
Gyoza is not bad but it would be better if they make the skin more crispy and add more filling. Tongari rice is nice!
the minced, porkfloss-like pork smells nice and is delicious. A pity that it is a side dish though.
