Bought the groupon deal of $55 for 8 pax to celebrate my father's birthday. I had previously requested for a reservation at 730pm for our 2 hour buffet but was told it was full. The place was only full on a weekday night at 8pm. So i don't understand why they had rejected my request for a 730pm slot. We sat indoors to enjoy the air condition. The waiters didn't change my grill for the entire 2 hours and also had forgotten and mixed up some of our orders. However they were friendly.

Otherwise, sashimi was good even though 'bae' was unavailable. The beef had beatiful marbling and the salmon and mushroom pots were excellent as well. Pork was delicious if dipped into the sauce. Wouldn't recommend so much of the pork and chicken as compared to the beef. Beef tongue was very chewy, different from what i ate at Gyu Kaku. However, all of us felt a little 'gelat' after too much of the beef.

The star of the night were the prawns and we just kept ordering more and more. The dog of the night would be the wagyu pot that was completely filled with meat close to 100% fat.
Judging from the amount and quality of food i had, the $55 was well spent. They had a compulsory charge of wet towels and free flow ocha at $2.80++. Fruit cocktails ran out, wished i could have tasted it.

Would come back again for another fattening and awesome experience. But maybe ala carte this time.
題外話/補充資料: Purchased voucher groupon.

Full Arashi Yakiniku review here: http://ivanteh-runningman.blogspot.sg/2014/01/arashi-yakiniku-charcoal-bbq-restaurant.html

Easily spotted along Boat Quay because of its distinct Japanese facade with lanterns and wooden-esque doors, the 3 month old Arashi Yakiniku Charcoal BBQ Restaurant is gaining a name for itself by serving premium cuts of meat at mid-range prices. As a Japanese style grill / barbecue place, Arashi Yakiniku Charcoal BBQ Restaurant has divided its 3 levels to serve different needs, with the 1st level being the future buffet area and open concept riverside dining, the 2nd level a quieter private area, and the 3rd level for large group functions.

Ambience at Arashi Yakiniku Charcoal BBQ Restaurant is traditional Japanese, think simple hues of wood and teak, clean profiles and minimalist decor. Seats are Zashiki floor seating style, with a sunken hollow for your legs. Arashi Yakiniku Charcoal BBQ Restaurant has also won praise for its grill, a technological marvel that sucks away any smoke generated during cooking, which means diners leave without nasty smells on their clothing. This also results in a quicker, more even grilling on meats.

Service at Arashi Yakiniku Charcoal BBQ Restaurant is decent. Staff are knowledgable about the items on the menu, and can offer advice depending on your preference. I liked that they come around regularly to check that your drinks are topped up, as well as to clear finished plates. I did think the staff outside could make more of an effort to promote Arashi Yakiniku Charcoal BBQ Restaurant to passerbys though.

Arashi Yakiniku Charcoal BBQ Restaurant uses white Binchotan Japanese charcoal, which creates high heat quickly, while remaining almost smoke free and odourless. This is placed in a pit in the middle of the table, under which is the device which removes any lingering smoke or smell.

Diners are offered a choice of either Asari Clam Miso Soup, or Seaweed Miso Soup. The Asari Clam Miso Soup has a lot of fresh clams, seaweed, and tofu, and the miso base is of good quality, without any monosodium glutamate (MSG).

The star attraction at Arashi Yakiniku is their selection of premium grade A4 wagyu beef, from one of Japan's top producers, the Ohmi brand of cattle. Cuts include tenderloin (SGD $68.80), kurubi short rib (SGD $48.80), sirloin (SGD $88.80) and ribeye (SGD $68.80), with ala-carte serving sizes at 150 grams. Prices are reasonably competitive, as the owner has good relations with suppliers. Furthermore, their meat is fresh, not frozen, which carries maximum flavour.

Japanese wagyu tends to derive its flavour from the fat content / marbling and has a more tender texture, in contrast to Australian wagyu with a slightly tougher texture, and where the flavour is locked into the meat, making it more intense. Both types of beef require less than 1 minute on the grill, and are beautifully smooth and flavourful. For a more natural taste, don't dip the beef in the dipping sauce.

The about 3 months old restaurant is highly accessible be whether you are driving or taking public transport. It's about 5 minutes walk from Raffles Place MRT along the riverbank of Boat Quay.
Arashi Yakiniku could be easily located with the distinctive Japanese facade decorated with huge sake bottles and lanterns.

If the weather is good and you are looking for a place to enjoy the beautiful night CBD scenery by the riverbank, I would suggest you to take the table outside the restaurant as the river view IMO is quite stunning.
Arashi Yakiniku is actually a 3 storey restuarant with open concept on level.
On level 2, it's semi open concept which provide diners with more privacy and there are also 2 small private rooms for small groups to have a more to themselves meal.
On level 3, there are 2 huge private rooms that can accommodate bigger group up to 12 pax.

One of the irritating thing about having a BBQ dinner is how the smell of the BBQ food lingers on our clothes. However at Arashi Yakiniyu, they are using high quality smokeless grill from Japan which used a unique technology that sucks in the surrounding air and smoke from the grill. As a result, food can be cooked more evenly and quickly. But best of all, having a meal here also means no more smelly clothes when we walk out of the restaurant! And if there is not enough to convince you to have a japanese BBQ, they are also using white charcoal which is almost smokeless, odorless and is chemical free. Brilliant isn't it!
I was slightly late so when I reached Namuru ($7.80), Japanese side dishes of pickled bean sprouts, spinach and shimeiji mushrooms, was already served on the table.

Arashi Kaisen Salad ($15.80), Japanese Seafood salad, is a very refreshing dish to kick start the dinner. It is very light and appetizing with the slightly sour salad dressing that compliment the greens and salmon sashimi very well. However do remember to toss the salad before you start enjoying this dish.

At Arashi Yakiniku, the meat are all imported from either Japan or Australia with a minimum meat quality of A4. We were very blessed to be able to start with “Ohmi" grade A4 wagyu beef, reservation is needed if you want to try the grade A5 wagyu meat. Depending on personally preferences, there are tenderloin, ribeye and sirloin available from $68.80 per serving. Personally I like the tenderloin the most. However to be frank all the different cuts of meat are all very good, look at the grain and marbling on the meat!Yummilious! They are very tender after the grilling and each bite of the meat has this light charred flavour. Thumb up!

Assorted vegetables($10.80) with a selection of asparagus shoots, Shitake mushrooms, pumpkin slices, onions slices and leeks is a perfect for health conscious people like me. Personally I like the pumpkin slices a lot as after grilling, it is soft and sweet.

At Arashi Yakiniku, Ninniku Gohan ($4.80),Garlic Fried Rice, is cooked just before they are served. Thus the rice is exceptionally fragrant. Personally i like this a lot as it's really well cooked and full of flavor.

Tempura Moriwase ($28.80) is another of my favorite dish of the night. The tempura batter is simply spot on! Not to thick or too thin. It nicely wrapped the prawns and vegetables and the end result is crispy on the outside and when you bite onto it, the fresh juicy prawn and soft hot vegetables are revealed! A specialty by Arashi Yakiniku that is not to be missed.

For pork lover, over here they served Japanese Kurobuta pork belly($19.80) and pork collar($20.80) which has more fats and is more suitable for BBQ. I didn't try this as I was already very full when the meat is served. According to fellow openricers, the quality of the meat is very good and has this melt in your mouth kind of experience. So pork lovers do try it and share with me your experience. =)

Tomi Tare Chicken ($9.80), chicken marinated in shoyu, is another dish which we have tried. The meat is well marinated and as thigh meat was used so you can be assured of the tenderness of the meat.

What is life without desserts, right? We ended the night with some homemade Arashi mango pudding. I like the fact that there are some diced mango to compliment the pudding.

Thank you very much Openrice for organising such a delicious food tasting event at Arashi Yakiniku. I have enjoyed myself very much and have a great time meeting fellow foodies.

You are invited to like my Facebook Page and follow me on Instagram @Blessedbabyhannah for more updates! Have a blessed week ahead! =)

The chicken was tender, but it might not be under my must get dish for Japanese BBQ. I would rather you try the beef or pork. ;)

Arashi also serve seafood platter which includes Fresh Tiger Prawns and Scallop, together with Salmon that is being serve in a separate aluminum bowl. The seafood was fresh, especially the prawns, they were sweet and juicy. You know that the prawns are fresh when the meat can be separated from the shell, and the crunchy meat! As for the salmon, it was being serve in some sauce together with a little bit of butter. The sauce did go well with the salmon. And being a fan of salmon, I love this dish a lot!

We also tried some of their a la carte menu.
First up, the tempura. If you're a fan of fried food, this dish would be the right choice! Fresh prawn dipped into the tempura batter accompanied by the sauce, (Y). I would suggest that you finish them while it is hot!

Next, we tried their Cod fish. The fish was fresh, the slices of "solid meat" and not those that are not fresh and they come apart. The sauce was of the right saltiness level too!

Do try their Ninniku Gohan aka garlic rice -$4.80 which was really fragrant! And if you like clams, you can also try their Asari Miso Soup - $7.80 , which has a generous amount of clams!

In the video you'll also see the sauce that was provided and the appetizers – Namuru (Side Pickled Vegetables) - $7.80.

Lastly, not to worry about coming in big groups, they have private rooms available for group as large as 10 pax! Being a Japanese restaurant, the service was tip top, efficient and friendly!

I can't deny that the food is pricey, but 一分钱,一份收获.
Take a break from those Korean BBQ, give Arashi a try!

But as a student now, and given the price of the food, i don't think i'll visit again, unless during special events, or maybe i'll be back to try their beef of the lower grade at a cheaper price.

This restaurant uses modern technique to barbecue meat by using white Binchotan Japanese charcoal which not only creates high heat fast is also chemical free and almost smoke free. The high heat preserved the flavourful juices of the various meat dishes adding beautiful sears thus making anything barbecued to be absolutely delectable.

From December 17 onwards, Arashi is having beef promotion for all grades of Wagyu.
We chose the mid range price of Japanese Wagyu Karubi A4 at S$28.80++ for 100gm serving.

Accompanied with dipping sauce. This grade of Wagyu is a bit chewy with less marbling. We liked our beef without any marination before grilling, just simply sprinkle a dash of salt and pepper over the meat. In future we will either choose the tenderloin or Sirloin.

The Australian Pork Belly was our second meat dish priced at S$19.80++.
There was nothing special about this pork belly similar to the meat I normally used for shabu shabu. The thin slices of pork belly cooked easily with its fat richness. Without the dipping sauce the taste of the pork would be pretty bland.

The Gindara Nitsuke or Japanese Cod Fish was tasty with the combination of sweet sauce priced at S$18.80. The Cod Fish has a more robust taste and coarser in texture with a dense sinewy flaky white flesh. This fish dish goes well with the garlic rice.

The Garlic Fried Rice (Ninniku Gohan) priced at S$4.80++ was fluffy bursting with the brimming flavour and aroma of garlic. This rice definitely added flavour to meals specially with any type of meat as the main dish.

Momi Tare Chicken priced at S$9.80++ was marinated with Shoyu. Instead of chicken breast, Arashi uses chicken thigh with the skin intact making the meat juicer since the moisture stays in the meat.

Amongst the three meat dishes, I prefer the chicken dish.

Different sauces were provided to tweak our individual taste buds.

From the Seafood Selection, we ordered an assorted Seafood Platter priced at S$28.80++ comprising of 5 pieces of Fresh Tiger Prawns, sliced Squids, 4 huge scallops and 4 thick salmon slices. The prawns after grilled were very tasty. The squid slices were tender and not rubbery. Scallops were thick and juicy.

The four raw thick salmon slices were served separately from the platter. An aluminium square food container marinated with Yakiniku sauce placed over the grill and slowly boiled infusing the sauce into the fish. Later we added two pieces of the broiled salmon and grilled for a short while to get the crust on the salmon skin.

Not all people are chefs but we are definitely eaters. However most of us need to learn how to follow a recipe at some point in time by creating flavorful dishes with consistency and texture using various ingredients including sauces.

The Ninniku Gohan ($4.80) is a must-order. The Garlic Fried Rice is light with a hint of saltiness + the fragrance of fresh garlic. Very yummy indeed. At only $4.80 for a bowl, this is definitely one of the nicest yet super value for money Garlic Fried Rice that I've had.

The meat cooks really fast due to how thinly sliced they are, but yet they not too thin that you can hardly taste them. In fact they are just the right sizes to enjoy mouth watering juicy meat that literally melts in your mouth.

Meat are also served with various dripping sauces and my favourite is a ponzu sauce that is just a little tangy - perfect for bringing out the flavours and open up my appetite for more food.

Other than meat, Arashi also have the Assorted Seafood Platter ($28.80). The salmon comes marinated in a Japanese sweet-ish sauce, which I'm not really a fan of. However I do enjoy the scallop & tiger prawns which were very fresh.

Overall, I would say that the food here is really fantastic with one of the best services I had received.

We came in a group of about 10 pax and had one of the rooms to ourselves. 2 very polite service staffs attended to our table and throughout the meal, and they were very attentive to change our plates, the charcoals and topped up our tea.

They seems well-trained as well, and was able to recommend sauces to go with each type of meat.

Definitely highly recommended for high quality Japanese Charcoal Grill at affordable prices. A great place to hang with a group of friends.

For me, Arashi Yakiniku represent a breath of fresh air, breaking away from the fad of Korean BBQ that has engulf our tiny island dining scene this past few years. I personally enjoy the bbq pork belly, beef tongue and Korean beef, however Japanese yakiniku is something that I have not eaten for a while.

One thing that you need to admire about Japanese is their relentless pursue of excellence. Arashi uses the latest technology of smokeless bbq from Japan together with white charcoal to ensure the best tasting result for their top grade meat.

While we are waiting for the rest of the guests to arrive, we commence the dinner proceeding with Arashi Kaisen Salad ($15.80). A seafood salad consist of fresh greens with slices of salmon, prawns, shredded crab stick and fish roe and light vinaigrette dressing. Light and refreshing salad to face the upcoming barrage of protein. For the sides, we have pickled bean sprout, spinach and mushrooms also known as Namuru ($7.80) in Japanese.

For the Japanese Wagyu Beef, we kick-off with Ohmi grade A4 Wagyu beef. Terderloin, Rib Eye and Sirloin ($68.80 each for 150 gram serving). Each type of meat have a different tenderness and marbling. You will have a choice of cooking the meat directly or dipping it in a marinating sauce before grilling. All the of meat are tender with nice charred caramelised grill flavour. For comparison purposes, tenderloin tenderness is 8/10, rib eye is 8.5/10 but has more fats in the centre, while surprisingly sirloin 9.5/10 and it just melts in your mouth as it has a more even spread of the marbling on the meat.

To accompany the meat, you have the choice of yakiniku sauce, sesame sauce and rock sea salt and lemon. You can choose whichever you like and what suits your taste buds. I personally like sea salt and lemon to accompany my beef. Lightly seasoned the meat and let the acidity in the lemon to take care of the fats. For yakiniku sauce, you have an option to apply it to the meat before grilling as well, which presented a different flavour to the meat.

For non moo moo lover, Japanese Kurobuta Pork can be your option. We sample the Pork Belly ($19.80) and Pork Collar ($20.80). The pork belly looks deliciously sinful and due to the fat content you might want to keep an eye on it as it catch fire easily, unless you like your pork belly charred. The pork collar is sliced almost paper thin, so it will take a very short time in the grill. Afterwards, it just melts in your mouth. Please note that if you are watching your weight due to whatever reason, this might not be the place for you.

If you are a chicken lover, you can try their Momi Tare Chicken (Marinated with Shoyu - $9.80). Arashi uses the chicken thigh with skin on, so the meat is more juicy and succulent

Seafood selection is also available. Assorted Seafood Platter ($28.80), which consist of tiger prawns (4), squid (60g), scallops (4) and salmon slices (60g). The prawns are big, fresh and juicy; the squid is tender not rubbery while the scallops are thick, tender and juicy. Unlike the rest, the salmon slices need to be cook on aluminium container marinated with yakiniku sauce. Unfortunately due to the way it was stack in the container, it is difficult to judge the cooking time. If you want all part to be done, some part will definitely be over cook. I personally don't like this method of grilling the Salmon.

From the ala carte menu, the Gindara Nitsuke (Japanese Cod Fish - $18.80) and Tempura Moriawase ($23.80) is a good option. The cod fish has is smooth in the mouth, no fishiness smell and the sauce is quite subtle not overpowering the fish. The portion of the fish is quite small. The Tempura is fresh and nicely fried. Meanwhile, you can try their garlic fried rice (Ninniku Gohan - $4.80) in you need your carbo fill. Simple and with slight hint of garlic flavour.

As a Japanese restaurant the décor of the place is very simple, Zen like. We were seated in the private room on the third floor, with floor seating and you put your legs under the table. Quite popular for Japanese restaurant private room in Singapore.

Overall, I really enjoyed the food here. The Wagyu Beef and Kurobuta Pork is just amazing and at the best quality. If you come here without having these above items, it will just be not worth it. I would Budget around $80 to $100 per person, without the sake. So if you have a cravings for yakiniku, give Arashi a try. Cheers!!

Looking for really nice Japanese Grill? Look no further! This newly opened (in their 3rd month of business) at Boat Quay offers top grade Japanese Grill at an affordable price.

Like all grills, one of the headaches we all face was the after-smell on our clothes after the entire meal. But here at Arashi Yakiniku, the boss brought in the latest grill stove from Japan which is smoke-less and practically leaves no trace of BBQ smell on you when you leave. Superb!

With the minute detail put aside, the main question is the quality of the food.

The restaurant offers both Japanese Wagyu Beef and Australian Wagyu Beef, from the usual Tenderloin to Ribeye to Sirloin, the meat are all grade A4. The highest grade for beef is A5, which upon earlier reservation, the restaurant is also able to offer to customers. That is how good a meal you are paying for.

Besides that, the Japanese Kurobuta (Belly and Collar) are both amazing too. Coming from a person who don't really fancy pork, I was totally blown away by how nice the pork belly was. The tenderness and the subtle oil melting in the mouth was too nice to properly describe in words. You got to try it to understand.

Seafood is also part of the menu, offering Scallop, Squid and Tiger Prawns. A good variation from all the meat.

If you wish to try chicken, then order the Momi Tare Chicken for only $9.80 (good for at least 3 pax). What I like about all the grills was the slice of pumpkin that came along with it. If you have never tried grilled pumpkin like me, then you would be surprised how good it taste, especially with so much meat.

Last but definitely not least, the other side dishes you can order, or as the boss recommended, the 'cooked food'. Arashi Kaisen Salad (Seafood salad), Asari Miso Soup (Clam miso soup), Gindara Nitsuke (Cod fish), Tempura, Ninniku Gohan (Garlic fried rice), Arashi Mango Pudding.
