pork bone soup was quite tasty and flavourful, but I felt quite thirsty after drinking it, so maybe MSG? or maybe just alot of pepper in the soup.

The claypot rice was my favourite and I will be back for more. I really love the burnt bits of rice at the bottom of the bottom. Okay so I am in love with a charcoal-rich diet, but I do enjoy the burnt rice alot. The meat in the rice is not dry, it is juicy and tasty.

The chicken was delicious and the portion here was too small, we had to re-order another plate of the chicken, as everyone on the table wanted more!!! It is quite addictive!

They occupied almost half of the Food Center premise, cordoned off with their own big round tables and chairs. Weekday evenings are pretty quite here, we get to choose where we like to sit. The staffs took order for drinks first while we ponder over the menu items on the self service order chit.

We all had the cooling Grass Jelly drink $2.50+, served in a tall cup topped with refreshing wolfberries. This was loaded with smooth wobbly jelly and not too sweet, recommended!

We finally placed order for 8 dishes for 5pax to share. All dishes are served one portion only, except for their signature claypot rice which comes in small or large portion. Portion is small so we can order many dishes to try.

First up, Fried Chicken Wings $6.50+. Crispy on the outside and succulent on the inside, very well executed comfort food. We ordered another serving after wiping out the first one.

Sambal Kangkong $5.60+, nice and crisp kangkong with extra belachan chili served by the side for easy customization of spiciness. Very good too.

Ngor Hiang $5.00+, another wonderfully executed home style dish. The flavorful minced pork rolls comes with bits of carrot, chestnuts and other vegetables. One roll is not enough for us, so we had seconds.

Oyster omelette $9.00+, this one tasted pretty normal, nothing to shout about.

Assam Pedas Fish $38.50+, choice of fish head or whole fish, we picked the latter. The portion was quite huge, and the fish has fierce looking eyes. The assam sauce was thick but I feel it is not tangy enough, it needs to be more sour to have kick.

Crispy Pork Knuckle $30.00+, extremely huge serving of deep fried knuckle, pre-cut for easy consumption. The crackling skin was the highlight of the dish, the meat however is quite tough due to the deep frying. Overall, passable dish, and good value for money for the large portion.

Claypot Chicken Rice (Large) $21.00+, Le Chasseur's signature dish that is a must order at every table. We could already smell the enticing aroma when it arrives at the table. The staff mixes the rice with some oil and dark sauce just before they served it onto our table.

The dish lived up to its reputation of a signature dish, it is utterly fragrant with smoky aroma and packed with generous serving of tender chicken meat, tasty lup cheong, mushroom and bits of savory salted fish. Two thumbs up!

After a hearty meal, we had a single portion of the Black Fungus Soup $3.70+ for dessert. We didn't realize it was a dessert till it was served at the end. It was a sweet soup with 'caramelized' softer than usual black fungus slices, and some wolfberries. Pretty good and unique dish, we were pleasantly surprised.

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Le Chasseur, food quality is quite impressive and prices are pocket friendly even though they charge GST. Service is prompt and efficient as well. We would definitely recommend this place to all easterners!

However, when we returned for dinner on another weekend with our family, the service is really slow and bad. They forgot about 1 of our orders, and yet they can claim that they were cooking that pot of rice. We had to wait for like 20 mins, only to realise they forgot about our order.

Quite a disappointing experience, and we have not returned since.

Claypot rice appeared at most table and it smells good! The waiter mixed sauce for us and handed to us after mixing it, generous chicken meat with chinese sausage makes the rice smell and taste good even Alyssa love it cos usually she will give a miss if she see with dark sauce. And I love digging the crispy charred bits and eat it!

BBQ Live Prawn was very fresh and sweet, water cress soup was quite favourable and we love it! Fried Chicken Wings - crispy and not too salty. Oatmeal Beancurd - the combination sounds good but the beancurd was too dry which I dun like and won't go for it!

We order 1 Tau Suan ($2.60) for dessert but I find it too sweet so I gave the rest to Goh to finished it. I will definately go back for more!

After moving to Eunos, Le Chasseur is no longer air-conditioned but the coffeeshop is airy and cool and they have much more seating space. This was the 2nd time I was eating here after they moved over and the claypot rice was a little disappointing as it was slightly wet and not as fragrant. But towards the bottom of the pot, it was better. As usual, the crispy pork knuckle did not fail to wow. It is rather pricey at $30 though. The sambal brinjal was pretty nice too.

Metal shutters greeted us when we arrived but luckily, a Filipino waiter who was cleaning the tables outside the shop told us that they are opening at 5.30pm. We had the signature Claypot Rice (Small $11/Large $20) that appeared on every table.
The medium-brown colored grains were not as intensely flavourful after first mixing by the waiter, but turned out better after we've added more dark soy sauce by ourselves. They were fairly fragrant, with sweet lap cheong, chunky chicken and rare slices of large-sized salted fish that might shock some unprepared tastebuds for the saltiness. But it is precisely the "kiam" taste that makes the rice appetising.

The Sambal Eggplant $7, which leans towards the dry version, is tasty even without any visible dried shrimps. The bottom swam in the right amount of chilli oil but the inconsistent heat resulted in occasion tough pieces.

We thought Butter Oatmeal Cereal Tofu $6 sounded like a wonderful combination of oatmeal and tofu but we would skip this next time. The tofu is nothing exciting, plain without any extra seasoning. Fortunately, their special blend of sourish chilli sauce did help to tide through the dish.

The crunchy Chye Poh Omelette $6, another popular dish at many tables, was not too bad, though the sweetness of chye poh did not emerge as strong as Taiwan-style chye poh neng. Would prefer it to be fluffier.

For the desserts, the Tau Suan $2.50 was really good as it had been cooked with gula melaka. The beans also had the right texture and I like the fact that not too much tapioca flour had been added to thicken the gravy. Never mind the fact that we needed to pay for the you tiao, which we thought were included.

Meantime, the black fungus soup is simply black fungus in sugar syrup with some wolfberries. Nothing spectacular as it is something easily prepared at home.

Overall, for the price range of below $8 for the side dishes, I would think that the quality of the food is reasonable. But with many places in Singapore serving much better claypot rice and chye poh omelette, I will remember this place for its.....tau suan.

The Butter Oatmeal Beancurd turned out to be an average dish except for the used of Oatmeal in the cooking. The two ingredients just didn't fuse together. I also felt that the dish was short of a dipping sauce to enhance it.

This is the highlight of the dinner that I am waiting for. The Crispy Pork Knuckle was huge! It was really amazing that the meat was still moist and tender. The skin was crispy and nice too. However I need to remove the layer of fats underneath the skin as it had some piggy smell which I did not enjoy. The special sauce that came with it also highlighted the meat.
