This is where I go to get some good old fashioned COMFORT FOOD. Sun With Moon serves up pretty awesome quality Japanese food at a rather reasonable price. I decided to order their Chirashi Don this time round. It comes with a mixture of tamago, avocado cubes, fish roe and lots of other goodies mixed into the rice, making for a delightfully flavourful (and very satisfying) lunch! =DI've had their Tofu Cheesecake before but never did order it to dine-in at the restaurant. It is served in a "birdcage" of sorts which a pretty dramatic way to plate a dessert. Always heard that Sun with Moon serve very nice japanese food. So went there for dinner after shopping in town.I was shocked by the salmon steak set when it was served. The portion is way too small for its price (SGD $16++). Mediocre taste and totally not filling. The Salmon sushi roll was much better. The salmon were fresh. not too thick and it taste good. Their sushi was delicious too, nicely wrapped and flavourful. I like how they present the sushi dishesSaba fish set meal was the best one I've ever had!! The saba fish was perfectly cooked, meat was tender and there is fragrant pearl rice, chawan mushi, fruits, salads, fried chicken, miso soup. It is like a coplete set meal that leave you so full. Kamameshi is Japanese rice flavoured with special ingredients and steamed in an iron pot, providing a steamy pot of aromatic rice for you to enjoy! I decided to try out the house specialty when we were at this restaurant the other day, since the presentation looked really cool! (cheap thrill) I got the Tori and Unagi Kamemashi ($17.44) which was grilled eel and tender chicken in soya sauce. It arrived in a cute wooden contraption and a mini hourglass set to time for 1 minute. You're supposed to let the rice steam for 1 minute first, so when the hourglass runs out, you'll know when it's time to dig in! After the 1 minute is up, gently mix the ingredients and load 'em onto your plate! Be sure to put the lid back on the pot so that the rice left inside does not dry out and then you're ready to enjoy your meal. The rice was filled with lots of eel and chicken pieces, and things like green beans and carrots in the warm and chewy soya rice. While it was delicious, I'm usually not a fan of such rice dishes so I don't think I'll be coming back for more of this. This is the 2nd time I came here, still the same enjoyed the food, the ambiance was great!!What made me feel should come again, try is their desserts...The tofu cheese cake (tasted like good cheese cake) is light, very smooth and also very tasty, satisfyingly good dessert- almost like the Japanese variant to panna cotta with berries compote, though the berries here didn't exactly go very well with the cheesecake...Fresh sashimi served on ice...Amaebi with heads was tender and smooth, wasabi enhanced the prawn paste in the head making it flavorful...The sushi was good, had a hint of gentle sweetness and a smooth texture due to the avacado and mango...The most memorable dish was the sashimi and tofu cheesecake...Thumb up!!…查看更多

Sun with Moon serves pretty awesome mid-ranged Japanese food and I've also heard people raving about their signature Tofu Cheesecakes, which supposed comes in a birdcage (not sure if they still do that for dine-in customers). Anyway, I bought their Matcha Tofu Cheesecake ($6.50) as a takeaway dessert after having lunch at Skinny Pizza just opposite. It came with Anko (red bean paste) on top which was not too sweet and a crumbly biscuit crust. The cheesecake however had a rather sourish taste to it because of the matcha, but the texture was so silky that it literally melts in your mouth. I also got a chance to taste their Original-flavoured Tofu Cheesecake which was a lot better than the Matcha one. The original one was creamier and had a distinct cream cheese taste. Really liked the food here and got a membership card the previous time so I decided to have a birthday dinner here with my family! The dish that I always order from Japanese restaurants is sashimi, and this serves 3-4 pax! And I ate it all by myself...... That was the only thing I ate that day so maybe it's acceptable..? HAHA. There are 7 kinds of fish including salmon roe, rotate (scallops) and prawns which are my favourite three! The prawns were sweet and fresh, salmon was very fresh and melts in your mouth, generous portion of salmon roe given and 6 pieces of scallops. Not a fan of tuna sashimi but this one rocks the socks off of anyone. It melts instantly on your mouth and was really really fresh and good! Sister ordered this tofu cheesecake and it was the best I had ever eaten! Initially wasn't keen on eating it because I dont really fancy cheesecake but this cake totally changed my perception of cheesecakes! Will be ordering tofu cheesecake everytime I see it on menus from now on!! This place is often filled with people and what's more it was Valentine's day, so we booked it a week in advance. There were many people queueing outside and the previous time I came without prior booking (on a weekday) I had to wait about 20-3- minutes for a seat. It's been a long time since I last dropped by Sun With Moon for a meal, and so I decided to pop by to indulge myself with some good Japanese food! It's amazing that this restaurant has maintained its business here for such a long time and what's even more amazing is that the qualify of food they serve is still top-notch.I ordered the Yakiniku Kamameshi Set ($25.80) which comes with a Chawanmushi and Sashimi. They have a very detailed explanation in their menu about how you are supposed to eat the rice. It comes with a bowl of simmering hot soup which you can pour into the rice. The mild miso soup taste goes really well with the sweet yakiniku rice.The rice was also chock full of healthy ingredients including yellow chestnuts and broad beans! I especially love the texture of the chestnuts and the rice. The chawanmushi was also very silky and tasty. Salmon chirashi. This was really exceptional and the salmon sashimi really was very good, and they also gave a generous amount of salmon roe. Comes with salmon sashimi and grilled salmon. The sushi rice was also very fragrant and soft. Would definitely order this again! This spicy aburi salmon roll is my favourite dish in this restaurant and I will order this everytime I come here! The salmon is flame-seared and really soft and tender and juicy all at the same time, and the mayonnaise on top is mildly spicy and sweet and salty all at the same time too! This dish is really nice and I would recommend everyone to order it when they go there. Although quite pricey at almost $2 per piece, it is definitely worth it! We were walking along wheelock area and walked past this japanese restaurant.Lunch and timely craving, we went in, great ambience, friendly staff. we ordered a ramen set, the ramen was well done with the egg, fried chicken was tender and tasty, salads and chawan mushi made it the entire japanese happy meal of variety. Then came the Saba fish set meal, this was the best one I've ever had comparable to the one we had when we were in japan. Again, another happy meal set! perfectly cooked saba fish, fragrant pearl rice, chawan mushi, fruits, salads, fried chicken, miso soup. and it didn't come close to breaking a crack on my wallet for what we ate. remember the name Sun And Moon. What I like about Sun with Moon is the modern decor, reasonable price, decent japanese food, value for money set lunches, what more can you ask for? But do bear in mind and try to make a reservation during the peak hours, as getting a table can be quite a hassle. I've had a number of meals here and not been disappointed; I feel that the quality in relation to the price of the food, I'm pretty much satisfied with what Sun with Moon has to offer.We had the California crunch roll which I felt as pretty good, as it had a good bite to it on the inside, and the crackling burst of flying fish roe gave the usual california maki a nice twist. The avacado roll was pretty good as well, however i do prefer the former. The rolls here come in 4 pieces of 8 pieces, giving theirs customers a choice to have more variety especially when eating in smaller groups. The chirashi don came with a rainbow of raw sliced sashimi, though most of it was salmon sashimi. But what I like about it is the mixture of sashimi and glazed salmon, hence adding another layer of flavours to the usual chirashi don. The service here is pretty decent, however don't expect tip top service during the weekends or peak hours, as they seem shorthanded at times, hence unable to attend to the tables promptly. However, food is always served promptly when i make a trip down here despite peak hours or not, lunch or dinner. The sushi~ the sushi was delicious. I love sushi as the rice they use is Japanese rice which is sticky. There is some vegetable in the sushi ans=d on top is fish egg i think. After hearing many raves, i've decided to give this restaurant a go. I had chawanmushi. It is basically steam egg with some bits and pieces of ingredients deep in. It consist of chicken meat as well. It was nice but not as delicious as Itacho ones. I also had avocado soft shell crab rolls. It comes in a plate of 4.
