Passed by the 8 Tarts kiosk at Causeway Point and I was suddenly tempted by the chocolate egg tarts on display, so I took the chance to buy a batch of tarts and pastries for myself and the family to share. My only grouse was that the tarts were placed in the box back to back which I understand was to save space, but I wasn't too impressed because the arrangement meant that the icing and flakes on my chocolate tart fell off and was all over the bottom of the box.

Top Left: Roast Chicken Pastry ($1.20)
This was quite firm and flaky. The roast chicken filling was not too sweet but it tasted a little salty on first bite, although the saltiness was toned down on subsequent bites.

Bottom Right: Mushroom Chicken Pie ($1.20)
The pie was a little oily for me but it was quite savoury. There was not much mushroom or mushroom taste to it though. The filling was more towards chicken potato instead, at least for the one I got.

Wife's Delights ($1.20)
This was quite crisp and flaky and did not crumple easily. It was soft but not very chewy. This was not as sweet as some other wife biscuits I've tried elsewhere but personally, I thought that this was a tad bland.

Top Right: Fresh Soya Egg Tart ($1.40)
This was supposed to be a slightly healthier version of the traditional egg tart. The pastry was quite crispy and the soya custard was quite smooth but it was a tad too mild for my taste. Probably better off getting the Chef's or Portuguese Egg Tart.

Bottom Left: Dark Chocolate Egg Tart ($1.80)
This was my favourite out of the lot. The chocolate tart was crispy and held well together but yet crumble easily in the mouth, which I liked. The custard was very smooth and there were chocolate flakes and icing on top which added to the sweetness and chocolatey taste of the tart. I was also surprised to find chocolate sauce inside the custard, which was simply awesome!

Overall, we thought that the pastries were pretty decent. Prices were pretty reasonable as well. Between us, we liked the Roast Chicken Pastry, Mushroom Chicken Pie and the Dark Chocolate Egg Tart. I'd personally recommend the Dark Chocolate Egg Tart and will definitely be back for more!

Blueberries with custard cream and crusty biscuit base is a perfect combination. The sweet custard cream goes well with the crumbly biscuit base and the tart is not too sweet. the blueberry used are fresh and the pistacchio nuts added on the top adds a nice crunch and taste to the tart. Other tarts are also nice. the chocolate tart has a rich and aromatic chocolate taste which is paired perfectly with coffee.

This is my second visit to this stall. The first visit left a good impression, so my hubby and I decided to buy some pastries back after our shopping at Causeway Point. The egg tart is more flavourful than the soya tart, so for those with sweeter tooth, do order the egg tart. The lao po bing is quite delicious with its sweet melon filling and the thickness of the exterior pastry is also just right. I did not try the salted green bean pastry, but my hubby polished it off in record time, which goes to show it is quite good as well. Looking forward to my third visit!

I love passing by pastries shop because the smell of fresh tarts and pastries are always very irresistable. My hubby and I got tempted into buying some of these pastries precisely because of this reason. We got the soya tart and one of the char siew pastry for our tea time snack. The soya tart is really light and not as sweet as the normal egg tart. The pastry is a little too thick for my liking but otherwise it is quite good. I have tried one of the strangest and weirdest flavor in their tarts and buns. Have you tried a durian bun and a cempedak tart? i did. The crust for the cempedak was a bit too thick and lack of flavor. The filling itself was an eye opener. I could taste bits of cempedak in the tart. The cempedak taste has overwhelmed the eggy taste but still a rather nice one. As for the durian bun, i can clearly smell the durian even before i set my teeth on it. I was with my son for shopping there. I decided to get some pastries as some are on a special promotion on that day. I bought the char siew bun and the char siew shun. I compared both and i prefer the char siew shun a bit more. The skin was not as thick as the bun but a nice flaky layer with the same juicy filling of minced char siew in it. The size is just nice to go in between meals.

This is the chocolate tarts. It looks nice on appearance, is't it. Its double chocolate. There are chocolate on top and in between the egg tart. When you bite the egg tart, there will be chocolate oozing out. To many, maybe you will like it. But, i don't quite like it. The chocolate is too overwhelming, it cover the taste of the egg tart. It will be better if i could still taste the egg tart

If you a fan of yam, you may want to try out the yam pastry from 8Tarts. This yam pastry is quite huge in portion and is baked till really nice golden brown colour. The yam paste in it are not too sweet and is filled with fragrant from the yam filling. Taste not bad with the fluffy pastry and it tastes even better if it is served hot as it will become more crispy as well. The price is quite alright and is freshly bake daily too.

Here at 8Tarts n Pastries, you can find a really wide range of 'baked to golden brown' pastries available on their shelvings. They are all made freshly daily and usually will have limited stocks stack on the shelvings as to ensure all items are still fresh and in really good condition. One of my favourite is their salted green bean pastry which the green bean paste are smooth and with slightly sweet. quite like the egg tarts here crust is fluffy without being too flakyits also not too sweet. however I only like the original egg tart, soya bean tart tastes quite blandegg can be more smooth and tender, but overall flavor is good. Did not try the other buns like polo bun and sasuage rolls as they look a bit dry.
