Prawn aglio olio: prawns tasted like frozen ones (as you can see from photo, almost void of color). Bacon was very shredded too. There were not much ingredients but fortunately, the taste of the aglio olio made up for it. The garlic was fragrant and it was slightly spicy for me. At $16.90, I don't think it's really worth it. Skinny fries tossed in white truffle oil and parmesan cheese $9.90: truffle flavour was almost non-existent. Croissant with ham and scrambled eggs $10.50: My friend ordered this and I tried the croissant. The pastry was flaky and crisp with a delightful buttery flavour. At $10.50, it's rather affordable for cafe food as well. The croutons were crispy too.

Overall, food's average but it's a nice place to have a meal and catch up with your friends.

It is one of those cafes that I found appearing to lack a character, it just looked very normal and a little dull. I guess I've been too pampered by fancy hipster cafes which haul bicycles onto tables. Oh well, but anyway I was curious about the functionality of the app so I did not care less about the frills, so I entered eagerly with a phone at hand, with $10 credits which I received upon my sign-up.

The Craft Sandwich was going at $9.60 on the Sugar app after I skimmed it, which was quite perfect for the credits I had stored inside my phone. For the post introducing the Sugar app, click here. The process of using the app was actually quite similar to using the taxi apps - very fuss-free and totally cashless. The Craft Sandwich's sugar immediately dissolved too, which made me realize that there's only one offer available to be claimed until they renew it again. However, after I finished buying the Craft Sandwich, I only had $0.40 left in my credits which meant I needed to top up my Sugar account. To be honest, that makes me very reluctant to use it again because I feel like the money stored in that account could potentially be left untouched for a long while and maybe even forgotten. If there was a way to use credits straight from my credit card without topping up, I'll feel a greater incentive to use the app.

Back to the Craft Sandwich since this is supposed to be a food review as well: It was more like a waffle stuffed with bacon and salad. Cutting it was quite a challenge, and my fork met the plate more often than desired with violent clangs. Having said that, the waffle was quite crispy and the bacon was also not too tough to bite. The salad was surprisingly quite fresh and enjoyable though I still don't like vegetables. It was overall decent but nothing spectacular. I wished they could have a more exciting dish on the app to entice people for a second visit.

Deceivingly small in portion, this is actually really filling since it was filled to the brim with macaroni. What we especially liked was the generous gooey-cheesey cheese that enveloped the macaroni entirely and generously. The macaroni was a little overcooked though and so a little too chewy. Still, this was tastily sinful, though it gets a bit cloying towards the end.

The name is the dish itself. Definitely very thick, and full of the buttery fragrance too. It is supposed to come with a poached egg, but because I was feeling in the mood for scrambled eggs, I had it switched to this. I should have probably just stuck with the poached egg. The thick toast bed would have mopped up the liquid yolk beautifully. I like my scrambled eggs slightly runny, so it would be better if this was so, especially with the thick toast. Taste-wise, this came together nicely, though slightly dry (I really should have left the poached egg alone). This dish isn't difficult technically, and so it's really hard to go wrong. A safe choice.

The bread was toasty and according to my friend who ordered this, this was not bad. Well, how can you go wrong with mushroom, bacon and cheese? This combination is classic and happily, I guess Craft didn't let down in the execution of this one.

The namesake of Craft: Chocolate Molten Lava Cake. They have several kinds of chocolate lava cake available and we settled for the Hazelnut version. I am not sure if this is so for all their lava cakes but this was deathly sweet. So, so sweet that this is probably the sweetest chocolate lava cake I have eaten and the first one I did not finish. The accompanying vanilla bean ice cream was of a very good quality - you could really taste the rich fragrant flavour of the vanilla bean. It would have complemented the lava cake well if not for the fact that the cake was so sweet to begin with. Plus, the 'molten lava' did not flow as smoothly as we would have liked. It wasn't the smooth, liquid flow we were expecting, but more of the mushy, thick kind of flow when we cut it open. Just too sweet really that it overkilled. If you have to order this, share.

Craft is definitely on par, if not slightly cheaper than its competitors in terms of prices, especially for its all-day breakfast items. Mains were generally all good, though not spectacular. If you are looking for something decent, easy on the pocket and a good place to catch-up or while away the afternoon, this would be the place to go in Holland V. Please though, let me know if their molten lava cakes are not deathly sweet anymore.

The service here was pretty slow. Ordered the mushroom sandwich but it didn't tally with the price as the filling is quite little. Bread is a little too hard as well. The mushroom and cheese inside tasted not that bad but there wasn't a lot of ingredients inside. The ambience however is pretty ok with a cafe setting and it wasn't that noisy. The meal does not include the drink. I ordered a separate lemon juice and it tasted not that bad! But the bottle is a bit too small.

Craft Bakery & Cafe is a small cafe serving simple brunch items such as sandwiches, and desserts and coffee. They sell desserts from 3 inch sin including a variety of flavoured molten cakes which was really expensive ($9+ for one?).

We had their lunch promotion sets which came with a drink, a side (salad or soup) and a main for just $19.

The Bacon Aglio olio was way too oily but I liked the taste of it. I did not like the choice of pasta. The ridges of Penne are ideal to hold sauces well but because this dish was already oily by itself, the choice of pasta further enhanced the oiliness of it.

Smoked salmon sandwich (with cream cheese)
The smoked salmon was not salty and the sandwich was decent but not a must-try.

I think Craft Bakery is more well known for their desserts but we were too full for any more so we did not try them.

However the only plus point was the service. I gave credit to how earnest and sincere the owner of the place was. He was very forthcoming to my feedback about the quality of the poached eggs. I hope the quality could be improved in the future.

Yes, the 3-Inch-Sin Original Molten Cake ($9.50). I had quite decent ones at the original 3-inch-sin but this is way too disappointing. They didn't even bother to heat it up before serving us. The reason why we know it because the cake was took out from their chiller and it was still cold in the middle when we cut into it. The chocolate lava ain't flowing and we had to ask for it to be heated up and finally, it melted a little and became gluey.

No way I've waited 15 minutes (as indicated on their menu waiting time is 10-15mins) for this Orange French Toast ($7.90). It is suppose to be egg mixture with orange zest as stated on the menu but it came out heavily loaded with maple syrup and sugar icing with almost unnoticeable trace of orange flavour. Another disappointment.

This is probably my first and last time visiting CRAFT and I guess I won't be coming back again. Besides the nice lady staff there, there was indeed nothing to rave about my afternoon tea.

Unfortunately they didn’t seem to have any brunch menu, so forget about the eggs and sausages like what you’d expect at the usual cafes. Instead, their menu is mostly on sandwiches, coffee, and since they were the same people behind Three Inch Sin, you get to see the classic chocolate molten cakes as well.

Finally deciding upon the waffle sandwich, named ‘The Craft’, I thought it surely had to be one of their signatures, naming the dish after the shop itself!

Well, tbh, I was kinda taken aback upon my first sight. I surely didn’t recall seeing so much vegetables on its description! Then again, I could have been clouded by the maple candied bacon that caught my stomach’s attention already.

Crispy and light waffles, it went well with the green apple salad with loads of other shredded vegetables laden with a sweet salad sauce. Plain and crispy, it didn’t overwhelm the flavours of the salad with candied bacon if you were to have it together. However, as I tend to separate these out while eating, I thought the waffles were a tad too plain and would have preferred a stronger tinge of butter flavour in the waffles for that added fragrance when served. I loved the crunchy and refreshing burst of green apple, and well, it did help me with finishing the other vegetables!

The bacon was my treat for managing to finish all the vegetables! Coated with maple syrup and well-toasted bacon, it was bound to steal the limelight in this dish, at least for me! The inherent savouriness of the bacon paired with the slight sweetness of maple, and the fattening portions of bacon, that’s definitely a rewarding piece. Bacon lovers with a sweet-tooth, this will be a satisfying one!

Sandwich on the sweeter side, this is one that’s not for the health-conscious (with the sauce-laden salad and bacon). Quite a fresh way of serving up sandwiches, this was one that managed to make me finish my dose of greens for the day!

If you’re looking for a dense and moist version, this might probably meet your mark. I loved the generous amount of cream cheese to go, and the deep reddish brown didn’t taste like artificial flavouring. The coconut shavings on top was a refreshing touch with a subtle fragrance and helped in preventing you from feeling jelat. This was quite an above-average piece of red velvet in my opinion, and managed to satisfy my cravings!

Simple and cosy space for the minimalist, it’s good for a decent meal especially if you’re craving for some 3-inch sinful chocolate molten cakes in the area.

Having read raving reviews of their signature sandwich The Craft, I had to try it! This sandwich consist of maple-candied bacon and green apple slaw on waffle grids. I thought it was a pretty unique combination! I love the taste of bacon caramelised in maple syrup and green apples sandwiched between the waffles! The Craft Sandwich had definitely lifted up my mood after eating the prawn aglio olio. Another plus point to note is that there was no GST or service charge on my bill! ^^

I would recommend "The Craft Sandwich ($11.50)" which I saw my friend eating, it’s waffles with bacon in between. I think it’s the nicest dish of the night! No GST or service charge, the price on the menu is what you have to pay only. Plain water are complimentary, self service.

Overall, we didn’t really have a great dinner there. I supposed The Craft is better for its coffee, sandwiches and cakes, mains are not their speciality.

Barely opened for a month, but already fast earning a following, CRAFT has just the right combination of Papa Pahelta Coffee, Gryphon Teas, Asahi Beer specials, Cakes & Pastries for a lovely afternoon or chill-out evening. To sweeten the deal further, they are also offering a 1-for-1 deal on all their mains and sandwiches from 12-2pm on weekdays.

Desserts fared much better than our mains with an order of the Peanut Butter Fudge & Smother $6.50. Loved the dense sponge cake with interlacing layers of dark chocolate ganache and a pop of crispy peanut butter praline in between bites which we both thoroughly enjoyed.

Our verdict? CRAFT does live up to the reputation that 3 Inch Sin had created for themselves with their mouthwatering desserts. The savory items however could do with a little tweaking. Nonetheless, this bakery/cafe is still very young so I am sure we can look forward to improvements in the months to come.

Spam Frites are just Spam Fries or Spam Fritters, whichever name you are more used to. Spam, otherwise known as the “ang moh” luncheon meat is iconic for being full of sodium, so much so that it tastes way saltier than the Chinese luncheon meat. The ones here are pretty savoury and addictive, without being too overly salty and they tasted pretty similar to the ones we are used to as well.

The Craft Sandwich is an interesting sandwich combination involving the use of waffles. A pretty fresh change from the usual bread, the waffle was pretty light, airy and crispy. This would have gone brilliantly with a scoop of ice-cream on top. Being a savoury waffle dish, it includes a salad that apparently had a taste of mustard in it that gave it a plenty of kick. Non-mustard lovers should stay out of dish though; the taste was pretty evident and even had a numbing effect as well. The bacon was pretty crispy and seem to come off quite well with the waffles.

Turkey Sandwich had some jam, turkey ham and avocado in it. The bread was crusty, and while there really seemed to be nothing wrong with the sandwich, it was not really memorable either and felt pretty safe in general.
