Since my last visit at Taiwan eating macarons from Laduree happen to see it at ngee ann city orchard again. The store is quite long queue as in taiwan , it was nice decorated and had wide range of flavours ranging from Vanilla, Coffee, Lemon, Pistachio, Rose Petal, Strawberry Candy Marshmallow, Raspberry, Liquorice, Red Fruit, Chocolate Yuzu and Chestnut. I ordered one box takeaway, the macaron is soft, not too sweet.

This is my first time entered the Laduree in Ngee Ann City. My impression to Laduree is double "P", PINK and PRINCESS. Laduree is very dreamlike to me and it is so-not-my-type.== [I am not a pink person, in fact I hate pink!]. But I do enjoy my time at Laduree, as Laduree has friendly and lovely staffs and the deco over there is very unique and has a vintage and classic feel.

We had brought two boxes of macaroons. I already forgotten the price and the flavour we chosen but I did remember that these macaroons aren't cheap. The macaroons served by Laduree look shinny and perfect!! These elegant little sandwiches taste nice~

The sweetness and texture of the macaroons is just perfect for me. I like the mouthfeel of these macaroons that is a little chewy but not too over. The flavoured buttercream filling enriched the "sandwich" and make it tasted solid. And the "sandwich" just melts in my mouth in a very elegant way after I had my first bite. It is a very enjoyable tea time!!

But I do feel that the macaroon is too pricey. And the overall taste is quite similar to TWG's macaroon. So, I will say that Laduree is nice but not so worthy. As I will be broke if I visit Laduree whenever I am craving for sweets!! But once a while, if I am going to treat myself a better sweets or wanted to go for an elegant tea time date, I will consider Laduree...

I think the macaroons are okay just a little too pricey in my opinion. Still it makes for a pretty gift for someone who has a sweeth tooth.

Ladurée does not mean anything in French. In 1862, Louis Ernest Ladurée owned a pastry shop in Paris. The dessert boutique is one of the first in the region, making the hype here in town sky-high. Takashimaya at Orchard Road wins the race in accommodating them – with an outlet each on ground level and level 2. The latter is a more elaborative physical shop, selling as well, other Ladurée items such as its tea leaves / teabags, recipe book, and soft caramel. Although both do not have seating areas.

PRICES:
Save for the Golden Chocolate Macaron that is retailing at SGD$7.80 (basically golden coated Chocolate flavored Macaron), all macarons are sold at a flat price of SGD$3.80, no worries for GST here. Pretty reasonable, comparing it to be about SGD$3.20 in Europe, SGD4.10 in Australia, and SGD3.65 in Hong Kong, we are somewhere in the middle.

PACKAGING:
Only a purchase of 8 and above earns you a box. Otherwise, a paper bag is what you will get for items less than that.

Macaron Shells: Coming across as one of the softer and more crumbly ones, Ladurée’s macaron shells do not appeal to me the best. Unlike many others who prefer the soft ones, I thought the harder shells are much more satisfying. They tend to last longer in your mouth to complement the ganache fillings, making the entire experience less sweet.

Ganache Fillings: Right on the other hand, I think they have perfected the taste of the fillings. The flavors were certainly not overpowering, and just adequately sweet. My favorite has to be the Orange Blossom one (much to my surprise), Salted Caramel, and also the Marie Antoinette. My usual favorites, Chocolate, and also the Praline ones fell short this time round. They were short of magical, and a little too ordinary. Other 11 flavors of it are Vanilla, Coffee, Lemon, Pistachio, Rose Petal, Strawberry Candy Marshmallow, Raspberry, Liquorice, Red Fruit, Chocolate Yuzu and Chestnut.

Overall Taste: You can say Ladurée has half the battle won. Depending on your preference, Ladurée did not quite cut it for me. If Antoinette and Ladurée were located side-by-side, I’d plausibly skew towards Antoinette.

Anyway, we are not really adventurous so we chose the safer flavours, the coffee and salted caramel. Each cost $3.80 which is one of the most expensively priced maracon. For the taste, we thought it was really very nice as the maracon is not overly sweet and we could taste the distinct flavour of each maracon, we could taste the hint of bitterness from the coffee and the salted caramel. The maracon shells are crisp and the inside is soft. I would prefer it to have more bite as it felt like the maracon just melts in my mouth too quickly. Nonetheless, I guess the high price will deter me from buying casually as it is really quite expensive.

The famous air-flown macaroons from Laduree at Orchard. I actually got this from the shop not the kiosk. My personal favourite is actually the salted caramel, which is pretty nice. The macaroons are good but pretty expensive. If you just wanna get for your own consumption, i suggest not getting the box set as essentially you are just paying extra for the box. Try the salted caramel.

I have tried the original lauduree macarons in paris so I was interested to see how these compared to the ones there. The macarons are really pricey at just under $4 per piece. The one I tried was rose flavoured. The macaron shell was crisp and this contrasted with the soft buttercream center. The ambience of the place is really nice I must say with sky blue ceilings among other cute decorations.

But I was quite disappointed, it just tasted very normal, just that one side was coated with 12k gold. It is not really worth it to try this, I prefer this outlet more, as it looks sweeter but the service in the level two's outlet is not as good as that of level one's. I went during 8pm plus, there were only two staff inside. One to take order while another was the cashier. The one taking my order didn't really to bother to explain to me those flavours while level 1 did, as i purchase only 2 pieces so there was no box given. I expected that they would provide me at least a paper bag, but they did not. When i request for it,the staff give me a black face & gave me plastic bag only

Their macarons are nice but their service is not. I seriously think that they need to improve their service.

The Laduree parlor occupies a small shop space, but it is decorated in an almost parisian whimsical manner, reflecting its extravagant european roots. There is no complete price list in the shop and I must confess I am up till now still a little confused about the pricing about macarons. I do know you can order them $3.80 a piece in a takeaway bag or in a box. The box option varies in price depending on the quantity of macarons you wish and the type of box you want them to be packaged in.

It's really $3.80 a pop, but once you get into the boutique and considering the wait time and so much anticipation built up for the moment of instant gratification, you become irrational and start getting every macaron of each flavour. I settled on these flavours:

Salted caramel- a really intriguing mix of sweet and saltiness!
Marie Antoinette- a seasonal flavour, but I wasn't really impressed by this flavour- tasted and came in an unnatural shade of bubblegum.
Citron- nice lemony taste to it.
Pistacho- I was pleasantly surprised by how strong and nutty the pistacho taste came out as I munched on the macaron
Chocolate yuzu- another seasonal flavour which I really liked- I didn't expect the combination of chocolate with a pleasant sour after taste of yuzu to taste so good.
Rose petal- another popular flavour and I was impressed by the intensity of rose flavour
Orange blossom- a touch of tangy orange taste that strikes you as you chew on the macaron.

I really liked the flavours of the macarons, but I did feel the texture is not very consistent- some macarons are have nice crunchy exteriors but others not so. I wonder if that has to do with a certain fall in standard due to the international shipping of macarons. And I am not so sure if I would pay $3.80 per piece just to savour a minute piece of macaron. While I did enjoy my experience, shopping at Laduree and gawking at the many flavours available, the macarons here are indeed an expensive sweet treat that I might think twice about spending on, unless I'm feeling extravagant or have a good reason to indulge myself!

A mere 5 days after Hong Kong’s Michelin Star Dim Sum Restaurant- Tim Ho Wan opens its first international outlet in Singapore, world-renowned Parisian Patisserie Chain- Ladurée has followed suit by opening two outlets in Takashimaya Shopping Centre.

Fans of their macarons can choose to either take the express route via the counter on level 1 or immerse themselves in the more chi-chi boutique on the second floor which carries a wider range of Ladurée products, namely their macarons, jams, chocolates and even perfumed candles in beautiful packaging.

While there was a queue outside the Ladurée boutique, it was nowhere as maddening and insane as the one Tim Ho Wan had on its grand opening. Perhaps a large contributing factor was due to the fact that there was no sitting area and everyone was simply there to do a takeaway.

I for one could not resist joining the queue and it was my turn in no less than 10 minutes (the wait can be up to 20 min during peak hour!). The macarons are sold at $3.80 apiece and any purchase less then 8 will be put into a paper bag, which implies that you have to spend at least $30.40 here to have your macarons packed in a box. Various different designed gift boxes are also available at an extra cost if you do not want the regular standard long boxes. If you feel like splurging and particularly indulgent, there are gold-speckled chocolate macarons going for $7.60 apiece.

There were about 18 flavours available and these were the 8 I chose- Salted Caramel, Rose Petal, Vanilla, Pistachio, Marie-Antoinette Tea, Praline, Chestnut and Chocolate Yuzu. Others include Strawberry Marshmallow, Chocolate Coconut Marshmallow, Lemon, Raspberry and Red Fruits.

I would definitely recommend getting the Strawberry Marshmallow, Marie-Antoinette Tea, Pistachio and Rose Petal!

Texture wise, the shells were crisp on the outside and a little chewy soft inside with just the right amount of filling that was not cloyingly sweet. Most will usually compare them with Pierre Hermé's but I personally refuse to pick a side as both were aesthetically pleasing and satisfied my sweet tooth cravings. And while the exorbitant price tag will probably be a deterring factor for some, I hear that these macarons are directly imported from Paris every single day, keeping the authenticity factor intact.

Hopefully in the near future, Ladurée will decide to open a cafe concept for high-tea here in Singapore and bring in their specialty pastries as well!

I came across this brand from my BF who wanted to try since we never had before. The outlook of macarons looks very appealing and delicious that you will simply want to buy every single pieces to try.

The shop which is located at Ngee Ann City (level 1 & 2) looks very exquisite and elegant. One thing bad about it is the maracons on display do not have tags to show the names of it. But of cos, they do have a stand to show the different flavours of the marcaons sold there. However, I did read some reviews before going down on which are the best selling and most popular macarons. My bf and I like it alot and I will definitely go back again and try those that I have not tasted.

The populars and best selling maracons are:
1) Salted Caramel
2) Rose Petal
3) Vanilla
4) Pistachio
5) Strawberry Candy Mashmallow
6) Chocolate Yuzu - Highly recommend
7) Marie-Antoniette Tea - Highly recomment

But these are not the items that I have bought cause many of them are already sold out when i reach there about 7pm. Be sure to be there early before everything runs out. Before you purchase the staff will ask how many macarons you would like to purchase so I decided to take 6 in a box which cost $32.00. Then after that, they would ask you to choose the colour of the boxes that you prefer. There are black, pastel pink, pastel green and beidge, if I remember correctly.

So, I took the black box and then told them the flavours that I wanted. I did not manage to buy Marie-Antoniette, Pistachio Salted Caramel because it was all sold out. Hence, I picked the 4 remaning above (in the list I stated) and the other 2 I ask the staff to recommend and she suggested Praline & Orange Blossom.

The macarons are very sweet, and it melt right away once is in your mouth. Holding and munching a macaron that cost about SGD 5.30 per piece it has better be something really good.
Why is this so expensive? I heard from a friend that apparently all the maracons are air-flown from Paris and of cos, it will be alot of cheaper if you were to buy in Paris/ London.

You may check out their official website to find out more.

Even before the official opening this morning at 10am, loyal fans of the French patisserie were already hanging around and eyeing the rows and rows of brightly-coloured macarons. In Takashimaya you’ll find not one outlet but two – with the more prominent, open-concept one situated on the first floor, right by Chanel, and the boutique store on the second floor.

Macarons here are priced at $3.80 per piece and you can either box it or bag it, depending on how many pieces you’re buying (for those wondering, a box of eight macarons is $30.40).

The macaron flavours are pretty much the same as those found in its flagship store on Champs-Élysées in Paris. Don’t expect anything specially created for local taste buds (not right now at least). We loved the ever-popular Salted Caramel, as well as the classic Vanilla. A couple of macarons you might wanna grab fast are Marie Antoinette and Chocolate Yuzu as these are seasonal flavours.
