We had the Char Siew and Roasted Meat Rice. The gravy that Lau Phua Chay used on their roasted meat is always as delicious and unique. When they had them scooped over the rice, it had turned our rice from the pearl white into black. It may look unsightly but do not judge the cover of a book, it tasted better that what we had thought.

The usual gravy are either the thicker kinds in gluey form or watery base in a smooth texture. However, if you notice theirs, there is a stark difference, fragrant and some residue within. Char Siew was well barbequed, letting out the smokey flavours in its caramelized form retaining its juice and tenderness. Savoury! Likewise for roasted meat, its cripsy and yummy!
Yummy!

The bowl of soup that comes along in the meal had to be mentioned as well. Soup was clear with sweetness and shreds of meat within. Simple yet addictive!

Being one of their repeated patrons, I'm quite happy with their food. Perhaps they can do a little improvements on their service attitude.

It seems like people just can’t resist the delicious Roasted meat from Lau Phua Chay. As always, there is a long queue and when you walk near the stall, you can see almost everyone sitting nearby ordered their food. This time round I ordered their Char Siew and Roast Pork rice. I think this combination is the best. The roast pork is really good. The crackling skin is so delicious. The pork is so tender and the fats simply melts in your mouth. There was a pretty long queue of people at this stall, and immediately you would assume that the food is really good. so without hesitation, I joined in the really long queue. After queuing for about 15 minutes, I finally got a chance to place my order. I ordered their roast duck rice with chicken wing. I was kind of disappointed in fact. The rice was so hard, I think it is barely cooked, very crunchy, not soft at all. It was very oily, my entire plate, under the rice was so oily. The duck was o

I totally regretted queuing so long.

I discovered another branch of lau phua chay roasted delights, just had it at clementi not too long ago, don’t know if they had the same history. I ordered their roasted duck and char siew rice. The portion was somewhat similar to that of the clementi one, very small portion. I had to order other food cos one plate is simply not enough. The duck was roasted perfectly, nice skin and tender duck meat. It was not too oily and the skin did not have too much fats in it. The char siew was sliced rathe

The char siew was sliced rather thinly, it was roasted very well, had my favourite charred bits. The char siew sauce they coated it with was very sweet and goes well with the sauce they poured on the rice. If only the portion could be bigger.

I know i very ngiao or kiam siap (stingy) when it comes to buying hawker food like chicken rice, char siew or roasted duck rice. MY favourite hawker food is duck rice by the way!

So here is the list of pricings (may see wrongly or prices may change):

Pork Rib Rice $3
Char Siew Rice $3
Roasted Duck Rice $4
Roasted Pork Rice $3
Roasted Pork + Char Siew Rice $3
Roasted Pork + Roasted Duck Rice $4
Char Siew + Roasted Duck Rice $4

I really don't know whether is it worth it. Because i could buy my duck rice at a food court for $3.50, so i don't know why i'm paying $0.50 more for a non-conditioned area.

Taste only so-so, maybe the sauce is good, but the rice and the duck is average Singapore standard.

I have read good reviews of this stall and wanted to see if it lives up the hype. For $4, I had the mixed char siew and roasted duck rice. I was very disappointed with the servings. I had four small slices of duck only, perhaps I bought my plate of rice when they were about to close and there were not much selection left. The char siew was okay, it wasn't too charred but it wasn't tender enough for me either. The main highlight of this dish was probably the nice sweet sauce it was served in, whi

This is a memorable dinning experience for me because we went there to a particular western food stall in the vicinity but that stall was closed. So we decided to have our lunch in this food centre. We were there at about 2.30 pm and this stall still has not completely sold out yet but they left only the roasted duck and char siew. This was our first time ordering from this particular stall though we came across a good number of rave reviews. I decided to go ahead to order a plate of char siew rice for $3.00.

After tasted it, i have to agree with the earlier review given about this stall. A generous amount of flavourful sticky dark sauce was poured over the rice and the meat. The pieces of char siew were nicely charred but not burnt, it has gotten a nice sweetness at the right texture with its tenderness and juiciness still within. I guess we would there a little too late as our plate of char siew rice did not come with a bowl of soup.

It was definitely a good plate of char siew rice nonetheless.

This Teochew-style char siew rice is so much different as the marinade use has bean paste and malt in it making it much sweeter. They won't hesitate to pour big spoonful of the sauce over your rice so unless you ask for lesser, they will give more instead. The char siew meat is chunky and every piece has got a little bit of the fatty meat with caramelised sugar. So if you do prefer leaner meat, you have to ask for them.
