Hotate Nabe Wazen
($16.90++)
Half shell scallop & assorted vegetables in miso stock, mini chicken teriyaki rice bowl, salmon sashimi, chawanmushi & fruits.
The set is filled with a bit of everything. A mini hotpot over a hot stove which gives well flavoured vegetables after soaking in the flavourful soup. The juicy sweet chicken pieces in the rice bowl. The thick slices of salmon sashimi. The smooth steam egg custard with lots of items in it. And ends with juicy slices of orange. Overall a filling meal.

Paitan Tonkotsu Ramen & Yakimeshi Set ($15.90++)
Mini paitan tonkotsu ramen & roast pork fried rice served with gyoza (3pcs)
The ramen is tasty without too salty soup base. The fried rice is well cooked but I would prefer it to be served hot. The gyoza is quite juicy inside.

Yellow Submarine Maki ($2.40++)
Crab stick, shrimp roe, mayonnaise, spring onion
It is a crispy and yummy combination.

Overall the food is not bad. Service is great. Little JJ pours water all over the table. The quick thinking staff quickly comes over to clear the mess. Used plates are cleared swiftly after eating too.

1st in Q, however still need to wait due to seats all occupied.

Ordered a Ramen, Fried Rice & a Chicken Katsu for 2pax.
Kanitama Ramen came first…
Ramen texture is chewy, soup quite tasty but the essence of Kanitama Crabmeat & mushroom omelette was soaked into the soup. Wouldn't order this again.
Would order the omelette as a side dish instead for the next visit.

Yakimeshi was next, this fried rice was well flavored & filling with lots of crabmeat, egg & meat! Would be better if the meat was more tender 😋

Lastly & the best - Chicken Katsu Toji!
Crispy, tender katsu plus goodness of the egg & sweet sauce to each bite is simply awesome.

The chicken katsu is definitely a must try 😁

I had a serving of Salmon Sashimi (SGD$9.50) to start off, since I had sashimi cravings (as usual). As expected, it wasn't the extremely fresh and springy type. It was limp in texture, hence I just doused it with loads of wasabi paste and enjoyed the sweet flavor of the raw fish.

Then the Paitan Ramen in Tonkotsu Soup (SGD$13.50) was served - with two slices of black pork, seaweed, half a braised egg and bamboo shoots. The soup base was thick and rich in flavor, albeit greasy. The black pork was luscious (mercifully) and the noodles were okay. I had no complaints nor compliments for this dish - it was rather mediocre, despite the fact that I was ravenous.

which consists of mini paitan tonkotsu ramen, roast pork fried rice, and gyoza (3pcs). For paitan tonkotsu ramen, its white tonkotsu broth is made with vegetables, seaweed and shrimps to bring out the umami in the broth. Tastes quite milky and rich. The fried rice is full of meat and crab meat.

For little JJ, he has the Fried Rice Set A from the Kid's Menu. It costs $9.90++ a set. It consists of Fried rice with corn and crab stick, breaded chicken, sweetened egg, french fries, Yakult and snack. The chicken is very crispy and juicy. Another $1++ more, there is a toy sword for little JJ, which he enjoys showing off to others.

Truly a great casual dining place to go if you stay near Northpoint!

At only $12.90 for the Paitan Ramen, I'll say it's super worth!

My friend ordered the Wafu Soyu Ramen which I got a sip from. I would say it's not as nice as the Paitan Ramen. The soup looks clearer but it's actually much saltier.

Really nice and crunchy. I would definitely come back again just because they serve this FOC.

For my meal, I ordered one of the sets with half portion ramen and half portion fried as I wanted to try everything! I forgot the name of the set though.

Fried rice is okay, but not fantastic. It's not hot when served and looked like it had been cooked and left in the cooker for awhile instead of those fry when you order kind. The egg is bland and are pieces on it's own rather than sticking to the rice.

Don't recommend trying. I have had much better Japanese Fried Rice elsewhere.

I love their ramen soup base! It's a little creamy but not over-whelming, and not too salty. I was a little disappointed that I only had half portion cos it's really delicious! Will come back for more!

We also ordered a plate of Gyoza to share. It was okay, quite standard Japanese gyoza. But I think the sauce to dip was a little salty though.

Overall, I would recommend fellow OpenRicers to try the ramen, but you can skip the fried rice.

Men-ichi Kyoto located at Yishun's Northpoint serves one of the best ramen I have ever had. Other great Japanese cuisine on the menu includes a la carte items such as fried gyoza, sashimi and soft shell crab, and promotion bentos and value-for-money sets, which oftenly include a main, side, together with either chawanmushi or miso soup.The queue is a testimony for its popularity. Highly recommended.

My ramen craving is back! Come here with my friend for dinner, one bowl costs $16.I prefer Tonkotsu Ramen as the soup base is much nicer. This soup base is not as rich as Musashi Menya's, not very oily.Ramen was QQ, with 4 thick slices of char siew. The char siew was soft but the egg failed as it was not soft enough. After trying out so many ramen places, I find that Ramen Champion is still the best. Service was ok, waiting time about 15 minutes during dinner time.

There is a lot of items in the steamed egg. The chicken teriyaki tastes very nice. The assorted tempura seems to have been pre cooked as it is quite dry and hard. Served with juicy and sweet orange slices.

The ramen was good, had a nice springy texture, and I absolutely loved the way they cooked the egg, the yolk was really soft, and contained impeccable flavour, and for the spiciness, it was okay, as I asked for the spicy sauce to be separated, then I added it into the soup to my own liking. The Ichiban Don was raw salmon with thinly sliced onions and some seasoning on top and rice, and I think the raw salmon was very fresh, and I would recommend this to salmon lovers. The tori karaage was good, crispy, and not too oily, which is a good factor. The softshell crab was pretty good too, very crunchy!
The unagi had an extremely good texture that makes you just want to have more of it, soft yet firm, the kind of unagi that is cooked really well. The ocha was hot green tea, and was refillable too, not bad. I will come back here again in the near future.
